I'm a liberal. I just finished Marshall McLuhan's "The Gutenberg Galaxy". I doubt you could understand a word of it. I also recently finished reading the "Meditations" of Marcus Aurelius, the famous Roman Emperor. I found his writings to be very educational, although I suspect the source for much of his wisdom came from the East (Buddhism, Taoism, etc).
As for politics, Aristotle's "Politics" is STILL the best book ever written on the subject. De Tocqueville's Democracy in America- also great!

no, communism is a system of egalitarianism where goods and services are divided equally among the people- and nobody owns private property.
It CAN have a stong govt, but it could also have NO central govt.
The Native American communities that existed in the USA before whitey killed them all- those were essentially communistic communities- where everything belonged to everyone.

I'm a liberal. I just finished Marshall McLuhan's "The Gutenberg Galaxy". I doubt you could understand a word of it. I also recently finished reading the "Meditations" of Marcus Aurelius, the famous Roman Emperor. I found his writings to be very educational, although I suspect the source for much of his wisdom came from the East (Buddhism, Taoism, etc).
As for politics, Aristotle's "Politics" is STILL the best book ever written on the subject. De Tocqueville's Democracy in America- also great!

I don't hate her PERSONALLY, although I think her divisive rhetoric is offensive and anti-intellectual.
I hate what she stands for- a person who knows nothing about issues,repeats superficial partisan platitudes, and is taken seriously by millions of people because they "identify" with her- either they have a mentally ill baby, or worship the same god, whatever.

first of all- Alaska was ranked 4th in federal dollars received- for every dollar they paid in taxes, Alaska received 1.83 from the federal govt. They are a highly subsidized state with a very small population.
But here's the real kicker- Palin couldn't even FINISH HER TERM.
You can buy whatever bullshit excuse she peddled- but this is the fact: she wanted to catch the gold train while it was leaving the station.
She's getting 115,000 to speak at the tea party convention.

It is fear Troy. I speak to many leftists 5 days a week. I work with a large number of them and myself, being a former Democrat for 40+ years can tell you, these people are TERRIFIED of her. It is obvious to me that most leftists don't do a lot of reading, including the words the MESSiah wrote because the constant denial of the mans own words is proof. Sarah Palin is a smart and savvy woman who is driven by a set of core beliefs based in decency and honor. She will be a big part of history.

Sarah Palin was in a nationwide televised debate with long time Senator Joe Biden, and she held her own. She's been a mayor, a governor, and I think she'll make a fine President. She's the only politician in American politics that got something done on energy. She negotiated a natural gas pipeline down from Alaska to the lower 48. Name another politician who has any accomplishments in the energy sector.

Good, she helped get a pipeline going, which is a good thing, But from the way you hear people go on about it, they act like she personally designed and built it herself. The oil and gas industry practically run Alaska by providing the bulk of state tax revenues. It is easy to be popular when no one pays taxes except the mineral companies.

In the U.S., there are factions against each and every alternative energy source including wind (kills birds), and solar (covers too much area) and shale gas and gasified coal. So, we import our energy from the dictators overseas. Those oil corporations you don't like make a pretty profit off of that, and so do those dictators overseas.

Supply and demand. The U.S., the biggest user of oil, is on the demand side. It doesn't matter if we get most of our oil from Canada, it's part of the world market. Specifically with natural gas, the U.S. pays much more for nat gas than any other nation which is ironic since we could be self sufficient in natural gas if the liberals and the oil companies weren't opposed to it. Ironic that the oil companies and liberals take the same stand, eh?

I don't care for Palin.. she seems shady, the first one to call me a RINO for this earns a nobel prize, but she more or less imprisoned her daughters.. former fiancee, or was it husband, she misused power.. and I don't trust the lady.
Personally, I think shes quite attractive for an older woman.. but thats it, she doesn't seem brilliant or real to me.. just manipulative, fake and vindictive.
