what are calm head wind landings on foot like compared to head wind landings. I would much rather have the added back up of wheels to land on so i can touch down at higher speeds if a head wind suddenly stops blowing on landing.
Do hang gliders fly well when there is no wind apart from the relative wind from the movment of the glider. WOuld you have to descend more quickly to keep the airspeed up. Can you cliff launch in calm wind? What is the descent rate of the glider in feet per minute in calm wind days.
@210482fmj That all depends on the glider. Beginner gliders have stall speeds around 10 MPH. If you were to jump off a cliff, you'd have to launch above the stall speed or you're fucked. Once you're off the cliff and there is 0 MPH winds, you will need to descend to keep your air speed above your stall speed.
@210482fmj Well, once stalled, you have little to no control over where you go until you regain speed. I'd say it depends on the position you're in when you stalled, but I really don't know. I've never flown anything in my life. The decent speed i think is around 1 foot per 17, but im not sure.
AWESOME

@vonzace could you get out of the stall from a cliff jump lauch if you steeply nose dived the glider
