Quick question... I had an unfill about 4 months ago after not being able to stay hydrated for 36hrs. I feel that I could use another fill but I'm terrified of feeling that way again. So MY question is: did you have another fill after your unfill and how did it go and what was the experience afterwards?
i believe im having this issue now & like you said i fear an unfill. im a week away from hitting 6months & i got this fill yesterday & FINALLY restriction. im so excited about being able to drop some more lbs bc ive been stalled for 2months+ ... but ive PB'd everything i ate today. its been horrible. even water is a bit of a struggle. i really am scared to get an unfill.
Thank you so much for your posts!! They always help and you give such great advice especially when you start talkin' bout things i've experienced and it continues to be a learning process everyday! :)
Thanks Mel for this video...I was experiencing this. My surgeon took out 1 cc now I gained 3 lbs of the 18 I lost in 3 weeks. He plan to put 1/2 cc back in 6 weeks. Not happy about it but I was really miserable. I guess I have to deal with it and work out harder. Any other suggestions?
It's bad when you have an over fill, as you can risk your band slipping if you are overfilled and keep throwing up.
It's the smart thing to do to get an unfill done if you are constantly throw up, my lap band doctor doesn't want me throwing up more than once a week.
Happy Friday to you also but it is Saturday lol I am so behind on videos :( You look awesome my friend I can say that everytime cause it is so true. You help so many people with your information and this is something I will bring up when I teach my class cause I have so many banded people the only way I can help them is by learning in the seminars but also watching you and many others thanks girl
Unfortunately, my copay for fills (and unfills) is $100 each. I only get a fill when I'm sure I need one and only a very small amount like a quarter cc so I don't have to run back for an unfill.
Great info Melanie. I was at goal wt by 9 months and have NEVER PBed...never had food stuck. I have had 4 fills, no unfills. I have cancelled fill appointments because I knew I was at a good level of restriction. It shows that you DON"T have to be getting food stuck to loss wt. LIke you said, you have to be smart about what foods you eat. Great topic!
"That look"!! LOL!! My kids have become familiar with that look when something is stuck!! It is funny to hear you say it because they have told me about it only happen twice but it was one too many times for me!
I really needed this video. I actually posted a comment to your channel. My doctor TOTALLY refuses to unfill my band. I rushed to the dr and he told me if he unfilled me I will gain my weight back. That is my fear..so I have been sticking to shakes and soups...really whatever I can get down. SMH To date I throw up at minimum once a day. It is what it is...I guess. Thanks Melanie!
@Joysmommy817 I cant imagine an doctor not complying with your request for an unfill. Is that even allowed? He can get in some serious trouble if something ends up happening to you - like being hospitalized. That is by far the craziest thing I ever heard. I think you should bring to his attention again.
@skymoon1982 I thought so too Melanie...but he told me that I am at the right restriction level and the problem lies with me. As in I'm not chewing thoroughly enough or I'm eating too fast. I've slowed down and I still throw up at minimum once a day. It is crazy. I keep losing weight...but at what cost?
I'm so glad you talked about what amount your band holds because I thought something was wrong with me because my band only holds 6cc as well and I found this out when they cut my band off and I had no food or water for 14 days and ended up in the hospital and lost over 25 pounds in 14 days. So since the unfill I feel so better.
first to view! great topic and something that needs to be discussed among we bandsters. CHEWING is also KEY! and i stay away from corn (on my surgeon's do not eat list) and i remember watching your video and being scared to death. no corn for me! great video. we all need to be aware of the band, work with it and not be scared to USE It to HELP us not HURT us. looking fantastic in that red and as you know i LOVE those curves of yours. i hope people listen to your words and follow advice
