Looking at your set-up and then listening to what's recorded is like two different things - the point of better mics is to have better audio, but you need to work a little bit harder to benefit - vocal pops and the like can be avoided by keeping just a little bit further back from the mic.
please helpme , my hard drive was broken and i lose all the programs of may HP, where i can download the softare mediasmart software? thank you please if somebody know helpme, cause nothing is working in my laptop, the remote control, tv NOTHING!! please help me is dv5 1235dx hp thank you
I heard ONE key word in this review that I told myself that I have to have it now. I was considering on getting one to hold my dvd collection that I have stored and play through my POPCORNHOUR. When I heard him say that he did it already and it streamed HD! I'm Sold!
I appreciate the effort put into this video. But I think this review should have been done by one person. The reason is it was very distracting to have to listen to two people talking over each other. How about working out who will talk about what ahead of time, and having a process in place to determine who the key speaker will be, and who will be supporting. Hope you don't take offense to this criticism. I think the show is great, just needs some fine tuning.
1. Dude, even my TV has an ethernet port. How the hell can these people make the drobo and not include an simple ethernet port. WTF?
2.Then, they want like $200 for a USB-to-ethernet adapter. For $200, I could buy a standalone raid system.
3. Why does no one make a Drobo card or free software that lets you mixed odd shaped drives so they can know Drobo out of existing. The should be shot for not including an ethernet port on the machine and wanted $200 to correct the mistake.
I like the Drobo because the storage is automatically backed up over the span of your discs so if one or two fails your still golden. I dont know if the HP Mediasmart server does that.
Oh that's nice I didn't know that about the drobo. I still haven't bought anything yet. I'm leaning towards the HP still mainly because of its online accessing capabilities.
Nice review. About to pick one up from Amazon (nice price w a rebate right now) without the Share. Curious, have you heard of anyone driving a Drobo with an Unslung NSLU2 or the like?
Erm... Isn't this from a previous episode from LAS? I remember Bryan saying the exact same thing, "Good food, good drink, and adequate data storage..."
stop talking over each other, let one person finish before you talk!!!

@aidanhill That was making fun show. Now without Bryan is just dry information.

Next time.. Please record the Audio in 48kHz, so it doesn't go out of sync... (that helps)
hopefuldespair1 2 years ago
The sample rate has nothing to do with "out of sync" audio.

Why not get an HP Mediasmart server? Seems like it does a lot more for about the same price if you add that drobo share thing to the price.

It was part of an earlier episode of LAS. This is just an extraction of that review.

I have not.. Have heard of people hooking it up to one of those HP WHS SmartServer units with success.

Every time Bryan slightly move/rotate the Drobo around, Chris's eyes just bug out. Like Bryan going to drop it. hahaha

Ya, it's just been posted here, outside of the show so people searching for a Drobo review can find it.

Kudos to you guys. I suppose this does improve the search ability of the LAS content. Thanks for the clarification.
