I just found out that Crash Test dummies (Brad roberts) have a new album(called ooh-la-laa) was written almost entirely on the Optigan-so I had to come and see what it sounds like
never heard a $99 casio with drum sounds that dope. The sound this thing produces is great and some people dig the lo fi gritty sound of vintage hardware.
EBAY, never knew what this was until 10 seconds ago when i found an optigan disc for sale and i came here to check it out. Still no idea how this works but seems like a cool instrument
@ChronicBudInc "Optigan" is a portmanteau of optical and organ. The optigan used transparent, Record size discs that had optical recordings of the drums, rhythms, and the lead instrument that would be played back via the buttons and the keyboard.

They are still using the optigan.... they used it for the recent chrysler commercial... dope music.... great breakbeats....
