I just wanted to mention that scheduled deviations can also be helpful to folks for whom weight loss is a metabolic issue as well and not just for "food addicts". According to the experts, having one or two "cheat' meals a week can help boost your metabolism and keep it from slowing down as the metabolism does when you diet. Some food for thought!
Loved this video! That's exactly how I view Thanksgiving....not something that's going to derail me or throw me off plan, just a day where i probably eat more than usual.
I love the jewish accent, they always nag don't they! Great video Greg, very informative! Hmm never thought of just "eat whatever!" like that! I like when you get really sassy and yell, ok not so much yell but cope the 'tude ;)
Greg- I love your attitude! You just amaze me! I cannot believe how much weight you have lost. Thanks for the tips. I really wish I had the same mindset as you! :D Write me a self-help book?
This video made me think of all the people that whine and cry about how guilty they feel. "Oh, Greg, I messed up, what do I do?" Watch his other videos, geez! Whining and crying about one day, about one dinner is counterproductive.
After dinner, I'm going to run as far as I can without stopping, walk for five minutes, and then DO IT AGAIN because I KNOW I CAN! It's all mindset, it's all about the relationship you have with food. Great video, Greg. :)
so true! Thanksgiving is part my plan too..wow a deviation day for the first time for me...yeah
One meal with all the high(man-made) carbs, no seconds...and then left overs will be low carb. and getting back into Ketotis will be exciting to see how long it takes me.
I have a plan beyond Thanksgiving. I start a walking regimen the next day and know that I planned ahead
I don't want the insulin spikes nor will I allow it!
I love that you said that you KNOW that Thanksgiving is coming months away... if you plan for it, it's not a "cheat", it's a scheduled deviation. LOVE LOVE LOVE that!
She used beef meat not pork and she actually made mine with potatoes and beef meat only (no fats...you know I do not mix fats with carbs...potatoes carbs...the cheese would have been fats).
Unfortunately I did not know and ate out of the one with cheese. S**t. Just came back from the "fast walk" which was for an hour only because the wind f**ed up my umbrella (it's an annoying rain with small drops).
But now I will workout this beautiful body and I know I'll feel better.
This video is amazing! I keep hearing the words "scheduled deviation" all over this community and I just shrug my shoulders. Definitely understand the dual phase insulin release and glad that you're using science to maintain! Have a great Thanksgiving!
Oh yes, I know you said no more punishments but I need those 2 hours of fast walk, I need to know I did something about this shit, else, this day, this day's workout is nothing but a waste of time.
So Corina, my wife sees me exercising the entire week, walking to and from walk place, grabbing my ipod and deciding to juuuust walk for an hour the days I did not "walk" to work place (my free days).
Today...Sunday...she decides to cook musaka (a fod made of potatoes and pork meat). I knew I will crave for some and asked her to make a diet version of it (meaning she just had to put the chopped pork meat and potatoes together and cook them). She did, but not before adding some Romanian pressed
Greg, thank you for this video- it's exactly what I wanted to know! Funny, I just read about the biphase insulin release- had never heard about it before last week. I'm going to try this and see how the cravings/ addiction goes as this is my "issue". Again- thank you- great video! ML, Jades
that is pretty much what I do for holidays. I say I can have what I want but not all day not all week, and not all month. I think I only have a scheduled deviation when I know we are going for sushi... but I keep it in my calorie range :)
i love your game plan; all of you WLLs have had great advice this week. it's just hard because i'll be working and basically alone of the holiday so i have some planning to do.
i believe once i begin to look at food from a healthy perspective, those deviations will be necessary and be like my own little reward.
Greg!!!....This was a blessing!!! Im not close to scheduled deviation yet, but I hear ya!!!

Greg, after your scheduled deviations do you have cravings- or does keeping the deviation to 1 hour help combat those addictions? Gracias amgio

no addictions. That is the whole reason behind the one meal.

Greg, during your scheduled deviations do you still stay within your maintain calories or do you just eat whatever within that hour?
danceistheawesome87 2 years ago

Love the "scheduled deviation". We know the holidays are coming so I plan on busting my butt until thanksgiving and then just... enjoy.
I HOPE to make some "healthier" sides but c'mon... its the holidays people!!! haha
Enjoy the day but then know you will be back on track ASAP.

And why the hell am I telling you all these? I have no idea.
Oh and I know the answer to the happiness you showed in that video you were telling that whenever you feel angry or down you just workout.
It is the endorphins. I love them, I adore them and can't hardly wait to get them though before starting i feel like crying.
It's been no break since 1st of Nov, everything is in pain...my bod gives up on me..but hey...there will be better days.
Again, I don't know why I am telling all these to u!

cheese, a very fat cheese. This way she made a decent food a calories bomb.
I ate, now I will juuuust walk 2 hours plus my regular workout.
There are moments my wife turns me into a man with murderer thoughts.
