I'm a Pens fan, and even I though Crosby was a diver and a whiner in his first year, something he has partially outgrown. Osgood provoked retaliation, so neither were innocent. okay, i play hockey and i know that goalies have about 5 inches thick of padding on their chest. ive been hit by sticks with regular player shoulder pads, which are about 2 inches thick, and it doesnt hurt at all. Osgood is just a fucking pussy and he was putting on a show so the dallas player would get a penalty. if you actually watch the video, you see that osgood hits the player in the face with the butt end of his stick as he skates by. THAT deserves the penalty.

First of all, Ribeiro wasn't even looking where he was going. All he saw was a career-ending hit to Lidstrom or at least to take Lidstrom out of the 2008 Playoffs, and possibly another Norris Trophy. Second, Osgood was just sticking up for his man because he knew what was coming. Then he retaliated by two-hand slashing Osgood in the chest, barely missing his neck even though there was a neck guard there. Did I mention he broke his stick over Osgood as well? That should have been a suspension.

Fist of all, it didn't hit his neck, and second, he Osgood had a plastic cover coming from the bottom of his helmet serving as a neck protector.

Osgood put out his blocker a little, i doubt he intended on his stick hitting him in the face. Should he have done it? No. Should Ribeiro have slashed Osgood in the chest? Hell no. I would have dived too. He deserved a suspension.

Does Osgood dive - yes, just like every goaltender in the NHL does, trying to get a call. I'm a Pens fan, and even I though Crosby was a diver and a whiner in his first year, something he has partially outgrown. Osgood provoked retaliation, so neither were innocent. Osgood needs to realize cheap shots will make you a target, regardless of the fact that he is a goalie. Riberio stood up for himself, though a throat slash is a bit out of line.

okay, i play hockey and i know that goalies have about 5 inches thick of padding on their chest. ive been hit by sticks with regular player shoulder pads, which are about 2 inches thick, and it doesnt hurt at all. Osgood is just a fucking pussy and he was putting on a show so the dallas player would get a penalty. if you actually watch the video, you see that osgood hits the player in the face with the butt end of his stick as he skates by. THAT deserves the penalty.

Check the stats-we always win series on the road. No panic-no pressure here. I'm glad we now have a series-this is playoff hockey at it's best. I believe Wings will eliminate Stars and if Stars can pull this off, then they're the better team. May the best team win! GO WINGS! And trust me, no way would we want Ribeiro. I don't care about the padding. I don't care about what Ribs was trying to do. Here's the facts. They both could've injured each other badly. If Ribs' stick would've been a couple inches higher where there were NO pads, it could've killed Osgood. Osgood could've killed Ribs' if it hit him hard enough and in the right place--or possibly caused blindness. It was unsportmanlike on BOTH sides. Nobody is in the clear on this one. They both made dumb decisions.

First of all goalies have immense pads on their chest that are designed to protect the goalie from 100mph chunks of solid rubber hitting them, let alone a slash from a stick that is not more than ten lbs. secondly even without the pads the slash didnt deserve the reaction it got. Correct me if im wrong but hasnt Osgood been an average goalie the last 13 years and Detroit's defense is making him look good? Playing Nashville and Colorado helps too... Osgood has a couple rings but I remember him playing backup to "The Dominator" and Mike Vernon. Im sure he gave a lot of moral support though from the bench. Dude! like I totally, like flipping agree man! These people all like totally suck and are like totally gay ass holes (two words?) Slashed out of the blue with nothing but his body armor on thats made to stop frozen rubber pucks that travel 100+ MPH. So what if Osgood butt ended someone for no reason at the end of the game and probably would still be picking splinters out of his ass if Hasek didnt have his groin duct taped together. Rajin, you must not remember the back to back Pens? You've had nothing to cheer about? You HAD things to cheer about...including one of the best players in the game...PERIOD (arguably two with Jagr...)...and yet the Pens couldn't fill the seats.
Ya...Detroit fans are spoiled...there's no doubt about it. But call it like it is...if you're not fairweather...then good for you. But 5 yrs ago the Pens weren't selling seats like they are now...

1990-91 and 91-92? Are the Sabres fairweather fans too then? Both almost lost their teams and couldnt fill arenas. Now theres waiting lists to get season tickets. I see what youre saying but hockey takes a back seat to football and most other sports here in America.

I highly doubt anybody is going to go out and start throwing off the gloves over this. I doubt the players are going to focus on this... at all. It would be dumb of Ribs to do it knowing that they have to win this game to beat the odds of a 3-0. The Stars won't risk a penalty just to beat up our players. If they did, they're basically throwing the series. As for Detroit, they can throw one game and take the series just fine.

You're just pissed Osgood isn't your goalie and he's that DAMN GOOD. IF Ribeiro did that to your teams goalie, you would have been begging for a suspension. Osgood was just protecting his player, Rafalski, from possibly a hit that would have taken him out of he playoffs, possibly his career. Tonight, McCarty is going to solve Ribeiro just like he solved Claude Lemieux for the hit on Draper back in '97. Don't hate the player, hate the game. By the way, Brodeur is one of the best goalies ever too!

First of all, Ribeiro wasn't even looking where he was going. All he saw was a career-ending hit to Lidstrom or at least to take Lidstrom out of the 2008 Playoffs, and possibly another Norris Trophy. Second, Osgood was just sticking up for his man because he knew what was coming. Then he retaliated by two-hand slashing Osgood in the chest, barely missing his neck even though there was a neck guard there. Did I mention he broke his stick over Osgood as well? That should have been a suspension.
