Im unsure, but i know from several RCMP officers that they HAVE done this many times. I think they may be legally obligated to stop him at any cost. Also he has already performed an assault on an officer on hitting the cop car (even if it was empty). he was caught on tape for that and im sure its automatically guilty then.

In Canada , law enforcement officers (police , special constable , PI's and LPOs) are allowed to use as much force as necessary to apprehend someone , they also are allowed to use any equipment / tool provided by the government , since the car is part of there issued tool ... they may use it . its (Plus 1 force is generally the rule)

The police officer is not only allowed to, he is obligated to stop the individual. In this situation a citizen is justified in stopping him as well. Most of the time potential grievous bodily harm or death is met with lethal force.

@MRSWS338Lupua I have been an auxiliary constable with Coquitlam RCMP for 2 years and I saw that not all cops have long guns (carbine/shotguns). At least you have serve like 6 months- 1 year probationary period to carry them and AR-15s are still pretty rear among regular RCMP patrol cars. Most of them carry the Remington 870 shotguns and AR-16s are usually carried by supervisors or ERT members. City police like PMPD, VPD, NWMP are usually better equipped than the RCMP because of more fund.
@MRSWS338Lupua they might carry shots or ar-15 but it is still very different than in the states. many american cops carry ar-15 or shotguns right next to them. they are usually located between a driver seat and passenger seat and they can pull them out whenever they need but almost all canadian cops carry them (except erts) in the trunk and they are usuless when an immediate reaction is needed. You have to go all the way back and open the trunk and they are only useful in a standoff situation

I called him suspect because I dont personaly know if it he was a convicted criminal running on the streets. I dont know if he was convicted or not.
Even if he was a proven criminal on the run, are police officers technically allowed to run over people to catch them.

Was it a cop in the dark vehicle that hit the suspect ? If not I hope that person was charged and has to share a cell with that idiot. And if it was a cop it's assault with a deadly weapon, if not attempted murder. He was on foot there was no reason to hit him with a vehicle like that, only fools would defend such excessive use of force.

@MRSWS338Lupua I have been an auxiliary constable with Coquitlam RCMP for 2 years and I saw that not all cops have long guns (carbine/shotguns). At least you have serve like 6 months- 1 year probationary period to carry them and AR-15s are still pretty rear among regular RCMP patrol cars. Most of them carry the Remington 870 shotguns and AR-16s are usually carried by supervisors or ERT members. City police like PMPD, VPD, NWMP are usually better equipped than the RCMP because of more fund.

@MRSWS338Lupua they might carry shots or ar-15 but it is still very different than in the states. many american cops carry ar-15 or shotguns right next to them. they are usually located between a driver seat and passenger seat and they can pull them out whenever they need but almost all canadian cops carry them (except erts) in the trunk and they are usuless when an immediate reaction is needed. You have to go all the way back and open the trunk and they are only useful in a standoff situation

They only show ONE police car in this video being hit but he did in fact hit THREE police cars... He fully intended to kill any police officer in his way... It should also be required of the RCMP and any other gang of cops to follow the exact same laws they've "sworn" to protect. Should they break any of said laws, they should face harsher penalties than any other citizens. I was just born here, so I respect and follow the rules set around me and feel that those "in charge" should do the same, otherwise, how can we trust their judgments?
