I'd like to throw in one suggestion: Search YouTube for "Mari Boine". She is a very interesting Sami (indigenous people from Northern Europe, Russia and Canada, they may be related to the Ainu people of Hokkaido) woman singer from Norway. I just found her yesterday and I totally am blown away by her singing. I understand a little bit of what she's singing, although the language is a little too far from mine for me to really understand it.

When people talk about AKB, its usually about how cute they are and rarely is it ever about the quality of their music because lets be honest, their music sucks. You take a bunch of hot girls, put them in skimpy clothing and get them to sing half assed for the masses and they're gonna sell records. Lady Gaga or Brittney Spears sell tons of records, does that mean their music is any good?
