  • Well done, Justin.

Really, why don't you build motors (or have them built) to your own designs???

  • Wire + water +capillary effect = problem.

  • If there was no Justin on earth, we would have to invent one....

  • Thank you Justin for this seminar and posting it for all of us to see. Your systematic, scientific approach to improving eBike motors is greatly appreciated. Thanks again for widely sharing your hard earned knowledge. May the world be a better place because of your attitude towards life!!

  • The lack of resolution on the water damage problem is pretty troubling. You know... car alternators are ran in the open and never have a problem with rusting out. I think it is due to the coating on the motors. I am surprised this idea has not been applied to hubs motors.

  • Very interesting presentation Justin. I wonder however if the pressure difference is the only reason for water ingression as your control seemed to have a lot of water in it also.

It seems that they are going to be difficult to seal perfectly and i agree that at the moment you have to assume that it will find its way into your motor.

I drilled a small hole in the motor casing so i could spray some ACF50 into it and whenever it gets wet bring it indoors to let the moisture evaporate off.

  • Great video! You guys should start producing Canadian made motors. Sure they would be more expensive, but I'd be willing to pay for properly engineered products than shoddy Chinacrap. Keep up the good work!

  • Awesome stuff Justin! ACF50 is great at preventing corrosion inside the motors, I also use self amalgamating tape around the axle/cable connections and gasket seal the face plates, on my X5 and geared mac motors I have had no problems :-) both bikes stored outside too.

    Thanks for sharing
