Actually. Rikimaru goes into meditation. Wich alows his shoadow to roam freely. In wrath of heaven his shadow gets meh oh's sword, and rikimaru passes through the portal.

one of the best video games of the 90's beyond a shadow of a doubt, definitely the best ninja game until birth of the assassins, then that was the best until wrath of heaven came out and so on and so forth.
