They used to use this opening on CNN Newsroom. Now CNN Newsroom doesn't even have an opening. It's just drums going "da da da" or a weird "DAA DAAA DADADUM" and then comes boring Kyra Phillips, Randi Kaye, and Suzanne Malveaux to put you to sleep with repeating the Top Stories every 5 minutes and talking to you like you're stupid.
You need to develop a strong channel branding and personnality to succeed. That's not what I see. To me, these graphics and themes just make this show looking like all the others on CNN. It's generic. They use the same themes (from videohelper) since 2001 here and there, without any constancy. I'm not an hardcore fan of FOX News, but at least they developed a brand for each of their shows.
It's only an interim show. What do you expect-- custom score and graphics?
As for the branding of the entire channel, they used to have that iconic musical signature with the voice of James Earl Jones in their idents, but those idents and that signature aren't really part of the channel anymore.
And Fox-- I can't think of any strong sonic branding for them off the top of my head, other than that awful guitar track for the O'Reilly Factor.
