Guns N' Roses. Sonic Youth. Dave Matthews Band. Stone Temple Pilots. Sublime. Oasis. Jane's Addiction. Foo Fighters. Bush. Bush. The Black Crowes. Korn. R.E.M. Public Enemy. @corebare Oasis always sucked cock. Black Crowes and Korn are inexcusable. And REM is okay, but Michael Stipe is a piece of shit, so fuck those retards.
@SwampThizzle wow, whats wrong with Michael Stipe. R.E.M are great to listen too. Good music to chill too. And Michael Stipe is an awesome singer, you have no argument.
@SwampThizzle Still didn't work for some reason. Though I googled the link with no spaces and it came up. Yeah, I can see how you says hes a douche, but first how much of that is true and while I'm not exactly disagreeing with you here, he has the right not to tip if he doesn't want too. And come on, would you pay a $400 tip for a meal, you'd normally be lucky to atleast get $10 with being a waiter/waitress.
well, why dont we make use of the internet... and explore the different kinds of music in the world... and see for yourself... if you like them, Great! support them... if not, then repeat process, Lol. Search your local music scene, I'm sure you will find alot! XDD
because, if you think they need support, you should... I'm just suggesting an idea... A movement. "great musical value" > "lesser musical value"
well, there are good bands even in the mainstream but still an "imbalanced" ratio between "crappy music" (crappy because I believe that music is for feelings and raw emotion, although feeling to get money or w/e is... it denotes a very selfish view so I think those kinds of music are of "lesser musical value" or simply "crappy"/"needs improvement") and "real music" which is of "good to great musical value" (because of it's creativity in emotion... Poetry with sound)
EVERY SINGLE DECADE OF MUSIC HAS ITS AWESOMENESS. IGNORE THE CRAP PARTS YOU DONT LIKE AND TAKE WHAT YOU DO LIKE.
its right there is no reason to argue over musical decades. my top three are the 60s the 80s and the 90s! Don't be so musically close minded people, you're only doing one thing: missing out on so much more than you could imagine!
Just a thought, but maybe arguing over which decade of music was better is a pointless argument. It seems to me that everyone here hates the Top 40, music video crap anyway, so what's the point of arguing? And arguing about which decade of music was better is all so relative anyway. Isn't it? And anyway, maybe some young Justin Bieber or Lady Gaga fan will read all these comments and decide to give the White Stripes, Beatles, Alice in Chains (or whoever) a listen and like it. Sounds good to me.
Every generation has great music. Not all of it is commercialized though. There's lots of great fucking bands out there right now, working. Bieber and Gaga just sell more pepsi or whatever so we see them on TV more.. There's a clue.. KILL YOUR FUCKING TV!! Get out to the scene and see some real music being preformed in your local town right now!
@Johnwr61575 lol are you a kid? Didn't think so. I hate all of over-exploited disney shit, Bieber, and Gaga. Not to say I hate those who listen to them. Everyone has their opinion and I can respect that, even if I don't always understand it. I've really started getting into chillwave which is relatively new. Washed Out- Feel It All Around is a pretty good song. There is still plenty of creativity, kids just seem to gravitate towards aweful shit. just be glad you weren't in highschool for screamo
The only people defending music from 2000 - 2010 are people who grew up in that era. Of course you're going to defend the music you grew up on. - I didn't grow up in the 1990's, but consider it the best decade of music ever. You can make any argument you want about how 2000 to 2010 had "great" music, but you can't compare it to the 90's. There was NOTHING revolutionary, new, or defining about that decade of music. NOTHING. And, 2011 - 2020 is starting off even worse. Way worse.
I grew up in the 90's and was a musician as well. I think there is SSOOOOOO much more great music today. There are a lot more scenes which can be a bad thing, but I just remember everyone that was young in the 90's being way too passive aggressive and it was boring. I'd rather be older and living now than ever go back.
@itowedin nice to see someone who actually appreciates some modern music. I don't care for scenes really, I'll listen to anything if I like it. I'm not gonna associate myself with any scenes though since I think that's lame. It's about the music, I don't care much for the following, because in the age of internet, the following has taken to the web :)
There is probably as much good stuff now as there was in the 90s. its just that with the advances in technology anybody can perform these days so the quality finds it harder to get thru the rest of the crap.
Its not that there aren't good bands and music now, there are. Or that up and coming artists aren't as innovative as those in the past, some are. The biggest difference between now and then (being the 80's and first half of the 90's) is that the mainstream vehicles for people to access music such as radio and MTV actually tried to one up each other in unearthing the "next big thing" -> and gave up and coming artists a lot of air time. Not so now ....
@JustOneMeatPuppet ANYTHING ON MTV,ANYTHING ON MAINSTREAM RADIO!!!I actually pity todays youth they dont know good music, all the #igg*r music and if its not ------music its white people who wish they were,a whole generation of kids with no identity being told by minorities what is cool, pick up a guitar or drum sticks learn an instrument and then preach to the choir.
@cottonfever1221 Dude, chill. What you're talking about is mainstream music, which tends to suck most of the time. But you forgot to mention the underground world of music, which has become bigger and more complex since the dawn of the internet. Obscure, but great bands can get more attention and fans, it's just a google search away. It's that easy.
Actually, I'm surprised you still pay attention to what's on the radio or on TV.
Yes well i was born in 70 and have heard a lot of music over the years but I just can not go past the 80's and 90s rock music , great song and great band ' TB '
Awesome. Remember watching this on "120 minutes". To think that people complain about how 90s music was rubbish... all they ever noticed was techno, probably.

People, stop dissing today's music, it's getting really annoying. Each decade has good music AND bad music, get a grip on yourselves

Awesome. Remember watching this on "120 minutes". To think that people complain about how 90s music was rubbish... all they ever noticed was techno, probably.

Yep, MTV once was a music channel. And it was damn good back in the days, they played all kinds of music. And then they fucked it up completely.
Money makes the world go... down.
