The only people defending music from 2000 - 2010 are people who grew up in that era. Of course you're going to defend the music you grew up on. - I didn't grow up in the 1990's, but consider it the best decade of music ever. You can make any argument you want about how 2000 to 2010 had "great" music, but you can't compare it to the 90's. There was NOTHING revolutionary, new, or defining about that decade of music. NOTHING. And, 2011 - 2020 is starting off even worse. Way worse.

There are a lot more scenes which can be a bad thing, but I just remember everyone that was young in the 90's being way too passive aggressive and it was boring. Its not that there aren't good bands and music now, there are. Or that up and coming artists aren't as innovative as those in the past, some are. The biggest difference between now and then (being the 80's and first half of the 90's) is that the mainstream vehicles for people to access music such as radio and MTV actually tried to one up each other in unearthing the "next big thing" -> and gave up and coming artists a lot of air time. Not so now ....
