About the black hair salon, it takes so long because black women be too damn slow, they wanna talk, take breaks, they book too many people, not enough people to help, etc. I won't go get my nails done at a black nail salon because I'll be there all day. I'll go to the asian nail salon because they'll be done with me in an hour, at a black nail salon, I would be all day. I gave up on black hair salons, I rather wear a wig.

About the black hair salon, it takes so long because black women be too damn slow, they wanna talk, take breaks, they book too many people, not enough people to help, etc. I won't go get my nails done at a black nail salon because I'll be there all day. I'll go to the asian nail salon because they'll be done with me in an hour, at a black nail salon, I would be all day. I gave up on black hair salons, I rather wear a wig.

You know what the thing is, most of these racial perceptions are true and this is coming from half black half white and native american girl(though i pass for full black ). It makes me laugh because no matter where in the world you are most black/africans act the same, most whites act the same, most asians act the same, and so fourth. People from the SAME culture tend to be alike, but people from differently cultures are NOT, reguardless of race.An Egyption does not act like an African American, a German does not act like the French, Chinese do not act like the Japanese.

Naturally Chinese and Japanese cultures are similar in comparison to comparing theirs with a English person for example, yet an English person may have similar traditions to an Australian, which is what i'm saying. Egyptians and African Americans are both African but i don't think you can compare the two because African Americans don't share any African traditions/values etc.

If anything, SOME not all black people bleach their skin b/c the media & today's society has proclaimed European features (light skin, fine hair, waif like body) as beautiful. Darker skin, has more negative connotations throughout the world. What I find funny is that SOME white ppl try to adapt to our music, dance styles, & try to get darker. It's a crazy world, but I'm damn proud of my race.

And secondly, african american skin comes in a variety of different tones. Some have brown, light brown, tan, white and even pure black skin. I just happen to be dark brown-the same color as a chocolate bar.

When I was an undergrad I actually witnessed a white girl ask my black friend if he can tan. He's a first generation Jamaican, Senegalese. Needless to say he is dark. She thought that because of this dark skin, he lacked the ability to tan. LOL!

Yes its they are stereotypes, but like it or not there's some general truth to every stereotype. (I did not know the story behind why so many Asians own nail salons and beauty supplies.) Its funny but learning the history behind these stereotypes is very insightful. This is one of my favorite Tyra episodes. I learned so much.
