The thing that most irked me was the bending. The bending, was so stupid, and had no correlation to the moves they were doing. Eg. Aang would do a bunch of fancy martial arts moves and then shit happens. This freakin annoyed, because bending was one of the coolest parts of Avatar, waterbending was supposed to be an extension of tai chi and breathing, & Fire was was from powerful kicks and punches of shao lin, this is what made bending look believable. & wtf, it took 6 earthbenders to lift 1 rock
M night said he got rid of Sokka's humour because he found it "unecessary", it made Sokka more "mature" and was that it was plain childish. Fuck Mnight
I have a video about the pronunciations. In regards to the Blue Spirit segment in TLA, did you notice the score? It sounded like it was taken straight from a Star Wars soundtrack -- very out of place. I was half-expecting to hear lightsaber sfx and C3P0 popping up. Anyway, that tiny scene you're talking about btwn Aang and Zuko, they actually inserted that NEAR THE END of TLA, after Katara freezes Zuko. Aang tells Zuko "we could be friends, you know." Obviously, it lost all its original impact.
@Zhaquiri I know exactly what you're talking about, to miss the opportunity of performing the scene from the show . . . having already done the work to set it up . . . was monumentally stupid. Instead, M Night thought it was a good idea to have Aang throw out that one line awkwardly after a battle, when making nice should've been the last thing on anyone's mind. Every change was worse, he simply destroyed the story and he's a nincompoop.
@kalin666 Haha! I know. It's like M Night deliberately ruined the title in every way possible; from the pronunciation changes, the "you're not meant to hurt anyone" bs, Katara being a weak, side character, Azula being a giggly schoolgirl, "the machines" being brought up as a threat but never addressed, this, etc. There is something seriously wrong with M Night dude, I'm sure of it. He sets up the scene but decides to leave out the most important part of the scene? wtf
haha you did this on my birthday...these names are pretty much made up...kataro is a Japanese name but katara is not. Roku means the number 6 in japanese( like 6th month of the year which is june which is in the summer which is the season of fire ;-)). Roku, Han,Suki and Jet weren't even in the movie!!!!! i mean i kinda understand Jet and Han but SUKI AND FRIGGIN ROKU!!!!! GAH! even if Night trie to make it his own it still sucked. good review....maybe u were too nice ;-) lol.
Question about religion...what is a relatively objective proof of religion? What about looking at prophecy? They come about or they don't. This is a jewish proof of if a prophet is true from Dueteronomy. Would you be willing to look at Baha'i prophecys to see if they have and/or are coming true? Written from 1844-1920 it would be the closest to objective evidence that you're likely to come across...sorry I don't have a webcam to do a face to face, but let me know if you're willing to look.
@aaronlee75 1) A deity demonstrating that it is real.
2) Telling the future does not prove a religion is true. A gospel author writing that Jesus rode to town on 2 donkeys at the same time because the wording of the prophecy was a little poetic and mentioned the same steed in 2 different ways is a good example of why prophecy is unconvincing. Events can be orchestrated at the time or in post to seem to fit.
@kalin666 Very well...I just thought I'd throw that out to you. Dozens of prophecies more than 100 years old coming true in the last 60 years up to today...(events that weren't orchestrated, btw) Other than telling the future, I don't know how you'd prove a prophet is a prophet. If you're not interested so be it. Peace be with you in life.
most? you mean 3? god damn your just overreacting and yeah its fictional so if its fictional its fine to change it! if it was based off of real people than it would be a big deal and sokka is an inuit name and its pronounced the same way in the movie! and im not even saying the movie was good im just saying thatyour over reacting on certain details
@stratisfire Sounds like your overreacting to his review.
Your also making up nonsense to justify I dont know what your point is.
The show is fictional, taking from but not based on reality.
The movie though is based on the series. Its supposed to be a retelling, and its one thing to rework a little to fit into a movie setting, but they took from another reality yet butchered it completely.
Its just like taking from historical texts, saying its a retelling, then butchering it all.
@stratisfire I dont get why you even wasted your time with the names issue as it was handled well enough in this video. Seriously, watch the video before commenting and if an issue is addressed, dont repeat the exact argument he countered.
By the way you can now upload 15 minutes of ranting, no longer limited to 10 ;) On a related note, I'm not gonna see that movie :l Will check out the shows though, at least the first season.
@NekaiiOnera that's a good start, I don't think you'll stop there. Paraphrasing a story I read on Reddit: "So I made my mom sit down and watch most of the first season with me, I had to work the next day so I left the DVDs with her thinking we'll watch the rest later that week. It turns out that she watched all 3 seasons in a 2 day marathon."
@Kuba022 I'm gonna have to disagree with you on The Happening, that movie is so unintentionally hilarious. It's bad but it's so bad it's good, for me at least.
Well, still haven't seen the movie(don't live in America). But If they EFF'ed up the blue spirit sequence, I'm going to shoot the guy who directed this...
@PenguinFactory yes they did, but the show did it better. In the show, Zuko puts both swords up Aang's neck, stops and stares just at Zhao. Simple single focus and calm unwavering intent. In the movie, one sword to his neck, the other flipping around and he keeps looking at the other soldiers and behind him. Anxious, wary, and uncertain. Same scene with 2 very different effects.
I'm feeling the pain just watching you struggling not to just explode at the horror that is the last airbender: Buttraped version of Shyamalan. This video is the best proof of some supernatural connection I've had since the mass-hypnosis years of devout christianity. You are reading my mind and releasing it on YT.
Really a shame. I've seen some clips of this garbage on youtube, I haven't watched the show but clearly the movie doesn't do it justice. I'm sorry you had to sit through that...
I think one of the worst things was the sound track... my optimism for m. night in this had totally overlooked that while his own movies can handle that music, air bender could not. it was horrible.
I hope there is a part 3, you touched on a lot more things that bugged me in this video. Have you ever seen videos by the user ColPicklejar? Your rant actually reminded me of him at some points, and believe me, that's a compliment.
Long live Avatar: The Last Airbender! The movie, not so much >_<

Do you think Aang's name would sound even worse if one were to pronounce it "Ing" (as in first syllable of England and English)?

Here's my quick rundown through Shamalamalama's movies:
Praying with Anger - crap,
Wide Awake - crap,
The Sixth Sense - surprisingly decent,
Unbreakable - boring, but saved by Bruce Willis,
Signs - terribly retarded crap,
The Village - crap,
Lady in the Water - crap,
The Happening - crap,
The Last Airbender - heinous crap... and I really didn't expect anything else.
