  • he looks like phil anselmo dude! haha! you're great!

  • Check out my cover of Rock The Funk on my channel! :)

  • Awesome. Hella reminds me of Guthrie when he "plays outside"

  • clean and clear! cool!

  • superb playing Martin and totally kickass phrasing screw the noobs commenting.

  • Cool. Wish I could do that.

  • What did you plug into to get such a delicious tone good sir?

  • Very Good!!!

  • Stellar playing as always Martin!!! Any chance of seeing you at Monkeyfest later this year?

  • Wish you the very best Martin, it's what you deserve ;)

  • nice playing..

  • Wow!! fantastic and inspiring!

  • I see you've been studying a bit of Guthrie.

  • I didn't know that Gavin Harrison has a lost brother who played guitar so good ;)

  • You sir are amazing. You've achieved some serious skill !

  • this guy has serious skill

  • 1:25 ... The lick (not really impressiv but it's what I prefere, the most cool to listen)

  • Wow!!! That was quite amazing!!!!

    Killer playing!!

    Rock on! ;D

  • that was seriously clean playing. great technique.

  • Please do not forget that guitar has to be melodic and sensitive...

  • @Shaedmusic

GUITAR DOES NOT HAVE TO BE ANYTHING SPECIFIC to be good!

Here's a tip: When you hear fast phrases, don't immediately dismiss it as UN-MELODIC! Just because YOUR EARS can't process the melodies, does NOT mean it's unmelodic! Yes, Martin's style is generally busy, (as is Govan's, Shawn Lane's, and Holdsworth's) but that does NOT detract from their excellence!

BTW, a song need not be an "emotive vocal-with-acoustic, in G-major"

    [ I - IVadd9 - iim - V -etc.] to be MELODIC!

  • @billmeedog What were Beethoven, Chopin, Pagannini, Liszt and BACH if they weren't virtuoses... it's also one important thing of being a musician, so don't bother conviencing stupid people... have you ever listened some jazz(not like fusion but jazzy jazz)? there are more shred then anywhere else...

  • @DiamondDimebagDarrel,

First of all, I wasn't addressing you! I was replying to a comment by Shaedmusic, OK?

Secondly, I am very aware of those Classical and Baroque artists you mentioned, as well as traditional jazz (I say all the time that there is shred in just about every style/genre of music: Chopin, Mozart, Gillespie, Coltrane, DiMeola, Brad Paisley, Shawn Lane, Tommy Emmanuel, etc. I can name names buddy...Melody and sensitivity CAN BE important, but NOT MANDATORY as he said!

  • @billmeedog yeah, i was trying to say that you are right! melody is important, but that melody can also be presented as a fast passage or "shred"...so don't get me wrong, i'm on your side... for example, Antonio Vivaldi - 4 seasons... the melody of the summer storm that everyone knows and ,i assume, they like is one very fast "lick"...so melody can also be fast...

  • @DiamondDimebagDarrel,

    Cool.

Good examples you cited too! I agree.

  • That. Was. Fucking. Amazing.

  • Ja, me likee, pressed thumb up after 20 secs.

  • Well executed! Looking forward to more videos from you! Definitely a lot of jazz influence (Pat Martino Rules :P ) as well, as some fusion/funk players.

By the way guys, when someone says that it sounds like Guthrie, it is a fucking compliment! Guthrie is the top right now, and yes funky phrasing and bepopish lines are rightfully associated with Guthrie! Well, that still does not change the fact that Martin is great and unique player.

  • I can hear a lot of Pat Martino influence on your lines, superb bebop phrasing!!, i hope people start to realize how good and original your style is and stop the unnecessary comparisons and hatting!!.. that intervals lines and the sudden use of sweeping and tapping passages makes your playing so interesting and melodic, musical and technically tasteful!! best of luck Martin! :)

  • absolutely kick ass!!

  • Is it really funk? Sounds more like a fusion to me

  • I hope people realize that there's a whole jazz vocabulary that goes back years. I'd say there's more influence from Martino, Metheny Montgomery etc. than Govan. 'Fusion' is a fusion of genres more so than a genre in itself, which I think some people forget. This guy doesn't!

  • @Mattieval Thanks a lot, you got it :)

  • @ElWischi My pleasure :)

  • gutrie govan influence

  • I don't like the tone, but absolutely great playing

  • no way i could play those fast runs but it will be hard to not buy this!

  • Amazing and tasteful playing. Definitely hear the Metheny in there. Time for me to get transcribing!

  • That was cool! Great licks!

  • Holy Shit! That absolutely kicks ass! Martin, you are getting to be monster player, just unbelievable! BTW, I love to listen to people's videos who criticize such talent, it's uproarious!!!

  • parabens

  • wow! that lick around 1:12 sounded like guthrie's wave intro! awesome!!

  • @maldo95able Well Gambale or not I still think Martin's a great player. I'd rather see him play over a few of the other guys on this channel, atleast.

  • such a clean playing, wish you good luck!

  • Nothing but the best from you, Martin.

    SO impressed!

  • Ooh, nice!

  • Scuse me... Where s the funk?

  • now that dude knows some scales! awesome. keep on rocking! :P

  • @maldo95able You got me there. :D

  • I'm a little bit surprised about how upset some people get about a harmless little piece of guitar playing :)

    Greets,

    Martin.

  • @ElWischi YouTube fusion = serious business

  • @ElWischi They are not used to seeing/hearing such beautiful style and incredible speed in the same package.. It scares them.

  • @ElWischi Rest assured I thought it was awesome! =D

  • @ElWischi Probably, dear Martin, because, they're completely unable to play half of what you can...all of them It smells strange when someone not liking something keeps coming back posting comments....As far as I am concerned, as a guitarist myself, you are immensely talented. Killer chops, phrasing and musicality. Keep going dude!!

  • This

    Is

    Wonderful.

    You are an awesome musician.

  • Martin is a seriously talented player, I'm shocked to see people comment negatively.

  • @NickGuitarify Welcome to YouTube, I guess.

  • @NickGuitarify And that my friend what is called jealousy.

  • @NickGuitarify probably those responses are from funk purists who are not getting a metal-infusion of a mainly funky backing track... but im just specualting

  • @NickGuitarify Wow Impressive

  • @maldo95able Anonymous kid with zero videos to his credit posts a negative comment out of the blue.

  • Yes, exactly! Great player and super great person too!!!

  • suhr sounds great!

  • Surprised to see so much hate for Martin here! This isn't just some kid, check out some of his other videos.

  • My great friend Martin!!!!! I love him! :-) Great player & great person too! :-)

  • sounds like guthrie haha

    amazing!

  • Martin is so amazing!!!

  • i thought my metronome click has more funk.

  • sur <3

  • Improve his tone. Then have him jam with Alex Hutchings!

  • Martin is the MAN!!!!!!!!!! stunning playing as always. Love this guy, can't wait for his soon to come album!

  • in fact, it's like you killed the funky part of it with your playing.

  • Tasty.

  • there should be a rule that youre not allowed to comment negatively if you can't physically do what this guy can do.

  • @aphexlane Music is not about what you physically can do.

  • @boyoboyySH Music is about criticizing musicians who are better at every aspect of guitar playing than they are. Keep up the good work, you'll get far with your YouTube comments.

  • @YngtchieMusic First of all, you don't even know my level of ability at guitar. Secondly, I don't need to be as good as or better than him to have an opinion about his music. Thirdly, I wasn't criticising his ability, I think he's a great guitarist. And finally, go fuck yourself. I don't need you to tell me what I should and shouldn't say on the internet.

  • @boyoboyySH youre missing my point.

  • that's great from martin but honestly I prefer Tom Quayle to play in this sort of track

  • @thegreatgarry Personally I think Tom Quayle is as boring as Martin MIller. Rick Graham too. They all have a very similar style of playing, and tone, and it's just dull IMO. British guys playing fusion on Suhr guitars....... Give me Alex Hutchings any day over these guys.

  • @bingefeller martin isn't british,he's german

  • Who disliked this? 'Twas great.

  • Comment removed

  • why exactly has it taken you this long to put martin on the roster? hes better than most of your team

  • Static-chord improvisation is so hard to make interesting

  • @CobHatecrewNor Effing true that -_-

  • LOVE MARTIN MILLER.

  • MOAR LIEK DIS.. Also, hurry up with the Tom Quayle, and get Rick Graham on board.

    this comment will get upvoted

  • I find this guy's playing boring as hell. He bombards the listener with too many notes. Good technique but lacks taste.

  • Suhr is my dream. The best guitars I've ever heard. And Carvins are good too

  • his chromatic runs remind me a bit of Guthrie. Nice playing!

  • amazing sound and skils..

  • Everyone should know scales like you do.

  • por que os cara coloca uma cordinha lá encima do braço da guitarra?

    perto do capotraste?

  • @ghabryell100 serve de abafador de cordas

  • did u allso play thr bass

  • Até q enfim deram uma oportunidade pra esse cara no Jam Track central... cromatimismo no estilo PAT... rsrs Massa!!

    Martin Miller Muito talento.

  • IT should say "Rock the Funk" porno.

  • @Shredsomemore Fuck the Ronk?

  • and greg howe!

  • love the martino/stern like bebop licks

  • @jakeguitar132 THANK YOU! You spotted some of my main influences (Stern) there. It's a bit easy to just go "sounds like Govan" when there are so many things that turn you into what you are. Greets,

    Martin.

  • @ElWischi no bother man! Definately more stern than govan, i didnt hear much govan. Some of the wider interval stuff was class

any chance you'd check out one of my tunes?

  • i see govan there

  • nice playing. I like!!!

  • That is incredible!

It's like a Jazz solo played like a rock solo over funk!!!

    GENIUS!!!!

  • Lol Martin Miller at bluesjamtracks! Really good!

  • yep ... this guy rocks !!!

  • There's a thin line between influence and complete rip-off

  • @boyoboyySH there's a thin line between a guitar hero and a complete moron

  • @Zimbaue10 u mad?

  • @Zimbaue10 : Sorry, I don´t understand you... MORON...why? Martin is an excellent young guitarist. He is already playing at a high level. Envy is not a friend of humanity and has no place in music. IMHO Martin deserves respect for his work! All the best to you all...and a fANTASTIc Happy nEW yEAR!

  • @MUELLMUSIC Don't worry he was talking to me.

  • @MUELLMUSIC He was talking to boyoboyySH, who has some guitar hero video's on his channel, hence the guitar hero bit.. :p A good respond me thinks lol.

Oh btw, I completely forgot, amazingly played! :-)

  • @Oblivion104 Wasn't exactly a refutation of what I said. This music reeks of Guthrie Govan. This guy is a great player though, I don't deny that.

  • @boyoboyySH Yeah I can see your point, but if I hear his playing without seeing him I'm not really thinking ''Hey is that Gutrhie.....?'' Bit of a mix I guess.. Guthrie is just on some other strange level with feel and note choice and all that.

  • @boyoboyySH Is Guthrie automatically associated with fast chromatic runs now? His style really doesn't sound a whole lot like Guthrie's to me.

  • @OneTimer1127 You can't hear very well than. From 0 :32 to 0 : 54 it is exactly the same as Guthrie, take a listen.By the way he is great overall.

  • @tuljan142

To back this up, see @ 2:30 mark /watch?v=-yPEewaalik

  • @OneTimer1127 No, everyone who owns a suhr and plays anything remotely in the style that Guthrie does is associated with him.

  • @Oblivion104 Thanks mate and all the best!!!

  • Amazing Martin!!!!

  • guthrie Govan influences in some licks.....Great playing

  • @victotvictorvictor thought the same

  • voll super

  • Finally! Can't wait for Martin's packs :)

  • Martin Miller: THE BEST!!!!!

  • martin miller is amazing

  • sick!
