The problem with immigration is that the immigration bureaucracy is so dense and unnecessarily restrictive. A society that was structured in such a way as to allow for completely open borders would be preferable. This would mean more private ownership of land and a different tax structure. Ending the "war on drugs" would free up enough man-power and money to take care of any violent criminals. Actual "citizenship" would be required for privileges such as voting, but "rights" belong to everyone.

I do not see overstaying a visa as a serious crime, although it is a clear violation of the law. Yet didn't the US take by force a huge portion of Mexico's national territory? I'd call armed robbery a serious crime. Americans do not know what it feels like to have large sections of homeland absorbed into a foreign country. The 'fortress America' mentality is unfortunate for its lack of historical perspective and compassion, but I still think Ron Paul is the man.
Those in the States 'illegally' would include people who came in legally and overstayed. Of course, there are those who never bothered with formalities in the first place. There is no way to fight "illegal immigration" without doing away with the Bill of Rights. The Bill of Rights is totally incompatible with a war on "illegal relocation". Deportations of peaceful individuals (who have committed no harm to any other individual) can only exist in a police state.

The problem with immigration is that the immigration bureaucracy is so dense and unnecessarily restrictive. A society that was structured in such a way as to allow for completely open borders would be preferable. This would mean more private ownership of land and a different tax structure. Ending the "war on drugs" would free up enough man-power and money to take care of any violent criminals. Actual "citizenship" would be required for privileges such as voting, but "rights" belong to everyone.

I do not see overstaying a visa as a serious crime, although it is a clear violation of the law. Yet didn't the US take by force a huge portion of Mexico's national territory? I'd call armed robbery a serious crime. Americans do not know what it feels like to have large sections of homeland absorbed into a foreign country. The 'fortress America' mentality is unfortunate for its lack of historical perspective and compassion, but I still think Ron Paul is the man.

Those in the States 'illegally' would include people who came in legally and overstayed. Of course, there are those who never bothered with formalities in the first place. The vast majority of 'illegal aliens' are seeking a better life for themselves and their loved ones, and are doing it in a manner far less violent than the Anglos who 'legally' stole the N. American continent from the indigenous peoples.

I am very happy I'm able to write all after being nearly killed in a head-on with a drunck driver. Any language is difficult for a person living with a brain injury. Yes I agree with you 100% on Ron Paul. But you sound like a Mexican advocate that did not know his facts and as for the Mexicans having it had that is there Goverments problem. The Chicontepoc Mexician Oil field is one of the 24th largest in the world at 12 billion barrels a day.

I am an advocate for whatever I believe is fair and just, and that means weighing the facts from both sides of an issue. The war with (a very weak) Mexico was based on a border dispute. It was supported by pro-slavery expansionists looking for an excuse to conquer. 'Manifest Destiny,' right?
Yes, Mexico is a mess, I agree, but its people have a deep cultural and familial bond with the old Mexican Cession. Some may be 'illegal,' but I do not see any as intruders in a broad historical sense.

We expats do not necessarily renounce our citizenship. Our absentee votes can determine election outcomes. I believe a Ron Paul presidency would improve my life as an American living abroad.
As for illegal Mexicans, if American governments accept taxes from them, how is it possible to write the whole lot out of the social contract by characterizing them as 'takers,' and at the same time deny their cheap labor has any value for the general consumer?

If they are not self-employed, Soc. Sec. is automatically deducted from their paychecks, as are state taxes where applicable. About 8 million illegals file personal income taxes with the IRS - not all, but most - in naive hopes this will somehow gain legitimacy. Wouldn't using their money for a 'guest worker' program solve some of the problems? "Taxation without representation" is as unAmerican as you can get.
