  • Ian has no bad song...... He sang this when I saw him play in Kitchener with my dad about 15 years ago...

  • This is so beautiful, he does it perfectly !! As I was listening to it two doves flew down to my bird feeder, made it a very special moment in my day !! I just bought his book The Long Trail last week and am enjoying reading it !! These nice things make me happier than I have been since last night when Russia beat the Canadian Juniours ha ha !!

  • I just heard Ian sing this on CBC radio after an interview with Michael Enright (sp?) and had to run hone and see if it was on here. Although Israel K. doe s a lovely job of singing it, he messes up the words and they make no sense. Ian eally makes the words come alive for me.

This is lovely, but I really liked the version with just two guitars that Michael Enright played.

  • so so touching~

  • WOW

  • It just does'nt get any better than this. Thanks

  • this is fantastic

  • A favourite song sung by Ian in his flawless way. I love him, I thank you for sharing this. from an old Canadian cowgirl who appreciates the authentic.

  • I've heard a recording of him doing this song before, but this is a gorgeous version.

  • Wow! I listen to this and I have to remember to breathe. He sings and I forget everything else.

  • highnrising must be missing something here. This is how this song was meant to be sung!

Bravo, Ian! I'm still always blown away by this guy's voice and ability to interpret meaning to vocal art.

  • I listen Ian sing this song when ever I am down.

    What a beatuful rendition.

  • Ian is really great. he sings great cowboy songs.

  • Wow! a beautiful version of this song. Thanx for posting this rutebeuf2.

  • I do also find it amazing Ian Tyson recorded this song. Michael Buble did too..another surprise. I never heard of Ian 'til my friend Dynobil did some of his songs on YT, What a fantastic voice Ian has!! A lot of talent is up there in Canada!!

  • I never would have dared to dream that Ian would hav an interest in something like this. Guess even old cowboys have dreams and memories

  • yes, he once said in an interview he'd like to do an album of like material, but the copyrights would cost too much.

  • Yes, cowboys dream too. We are like everybody else.

    steven

  • Beautiful video of Ian Tyson singing a Judy Garland classic . Oh, and thank you for releasing the videos of Ian and Sylvia!

  • When I joined YouTube, less two years ago, there was almost no Ian or Sylvia Tyson related files, aside from some covers of "Four Strong Winds," many attributing the song to Neil Young. Thanks to you and others we have a chance to see some of their performances, a thrill for a longtime fan who never saw either of them. Thanks.

  • i plan on eventually uploading a bit more, being from Canada, CBC has occasionally played a few montages of some old clips from the 60s, not a super lot exists, but some. Wish there was tons more. they're treasures.
