The saddest part about Alien 3 killing off this great character, Hicks is that there are interviews of Michael Biehn, talking about what happened and why his character was killed off in 3. He looks legitimately upset. I think he was welling up over the pain of being killed off without good reason. That's nothing against Michael. I just think it sucks. Biehn was that into this role.

Its been 25 years since this movie came out and the only other action or sci-fi movie that even comes close is T2. Even with all the technology and millions of dollars we still get ripped off in the theaters year after year. I have a feeling I'm going to be 60 years old still waiting for something great again.
I like the other one better with the still photos, I just didn't like how the music ended before the pictures finished on that one and also the fact that your last picture was of him shooting himself with a needle. It just didn't seem to fit a tribute to Cpl Hicks to show him doing that.
The director had no say in that. The writer and producers had the final say as to whether Hicks was returning. The director of Alien 3 that was responsible for the final product you saw arrived late in the game, and had his cut of the film butchered by Fox execs, which is why Alien 3 does not have a directors cut in the quad, he refused to return and do one.

Got to stand up for you! Yes Alien 3 is really dark and depressing, but it really is the rightful ending for the saga. I, personally don't hate it, because it stays dutifully with theme of the first two films, but takes the agony and darkness to a whole new level. It's a pitch black film. But I admit that I miss Hicks, Newt and Bishop so much that I don't feel like watching Alien 3 ever again. But every time I do watch it I can't fall asleep because of the terror. It's an impressive film.
He would HAVE to die, Burke supposedly sabotaged all of the marines freezers (you know the bit where he was gonna get Ripley and Newt impregnated, it was never said he didn't already do it.)
Did anybody else know (and this is true) that the original idea for Alien3 was to keep Hicks alive and kill off Bishop , Newt & Ripley ?

Alien3 was amazing, the only reason people dont like it because it was too depressing! It was the perfect end for saga, anything after 3 was DOGSHIT!

Got to stand up for you! Yes Alien 3 is really dark and depressing, but it really is the rightful ending for the saga. I, personally don't hate it, because it stays dutifully with theme of the first two films, but takes the agony and darkness to a whole new level. It's a pitch black film. But I admit that I miss Hicks, Newt and Bishop so much that I don't feel like watching Alien 3 ever again. But every time I do watch it I can't fall asleep because of the terror. It's an impressive film.

He would HAVE to die, Burke supposedly sabotaged all of the marines freezers (you know the bit where he was gonna get Ripley and Newt impregnated, it was never said he didn't already do it.)
