@sascha1352 I hate how the world media and rec companies get to choose where to release artists...like in France, for example, we get to listen on the radio only the BIG pop hits...not to mention that French music is relegated inside of its own territory, France!...the problem is that we´re being controlled by this few ppl. who own media vehicles...
I don't understand how all this talent from Canada like Ian Thornley, Serena, Headstones, Tea Party, etc etc are not huge it in the U.S. Wait, yes i do, we idolize image here and not real talents anymore. Thank God for Canadian music.
@golaudydd I here ya!!! The music sucks here and I'm so glad Canada has remained true to good old rock music. I really like Danko Jones now too. Artists like Serena Ryder just get it. Sure you can here some Neil Young in her music (bit of Johnny Cash too in "Dark As The Black" imo) but she adds her own prodigous talents to her influences. In the US, on person writes a hit and people copy the formula verbatim. US pop music makes me sick.
Great vocals, exceptional guitar, perfect sound, lush visuals. The 3 videos in the series featuring this talented lady, encapsulate the true essence and reality of good music video. A real lift for the soul. Thanks. Steve
i saw her at the Horseshoe Tavern opening for The Skydiggers...she had no instruments, no band, no mic and she blew us all away with that voice...simply amazing!~
Bravo to CBC. I first heard Serena about 10 yrs ago on a CBC program that I cant remember right now,but she was proforming live at ..I think ..the Black ...something inn in the Ottawa valley.Serena did a version of Janice Joplin that made the hair stand up on my body(a good thing), Praise to Janice...BUT move over for Serena !
undescribable!she has one of those voices that pops up every so often like stevie nicks or mellisa ethridge, talent pure, raw and true...this is NOT education and theory...this is heart and soul that nobody can copy and she is gifted enuff to channel it out vocally.truely a beautiful thing to see and hear!
Glad you got her on the show, Gian. I've been waiting for age.......ges for this special Q moment. Loved her voice since I first heard it years ago. She just keeps getting better.
Simply my favourite artist right now...

@RhoadsLynch You're my favorite! I hate that the US has used Auto-Tune and questionable beauty over actual beauty and talent.

Why is "Is it OK" not out in the US yet? It seems like a looooong lag between the Canadian release and the US release. Why?
