Your voice isn't flat, you just need more practice to strengthen your control, and yes, diaphragm. It's exercise; better muscle tone makes for better control. I believe that singing (and most art ) is good for your soul.

i like nature and music and art and a lot of things. but theres nothing wrong with killing animals for food, that's nature and every omnivorous or carnivorous creature in the world does it. I live in red neck ville out here and am one of the very few with a computer (i also live in the smartest family in mailes but don't tell anyone i said that) and out here humans are a vital part of the food chain and without us hunting all the deer would become overpopulated and die. also, I like to ramble.

Beautiful song. Reminds me of the old union songs. I like folk music because it captures a moment in a song.

As far as the singing goes, your voice suits the genre quite well and you've got a nice tone....

but if you wanted a direction to improve in, I would work on some breathing exercises to strengthen your diaphragm and then you'll have extra umph and air if you'd like to ornament.

In general, I believe people drawn to the engineering field are predominately logical, pragmatic, and creative in a way that usually does not come out as songwriting or funny videos.
