TFF is incomparable :) they have an eerie reaching-into-your-soul sound that I don't understand but go completely nuts for. This song's one of my faves from TFF, I have this on CD, in my ipod, and I still love watching this vid. Must be Roland's dancing and the way he sings that get me hypnotized :) I just love them.. TFF completes me :)
Ihad bought a cd of them containing 13 hits, and thought i´d seen, (better say) heard all the best fromTFF. That was until yesterday, when I accidently found this "can´t-take-it-outta-my-head" song! Ab Fab!!
@nigelguliver22 Many of the best songs aren't "hits". You should consider buying the albums...not just the greatest hits. I feel a little sorry for people who are Tears for Fears fans but only know the hits. They have albums that are brilliant from beginning to end.
@nigelguliver22 You should check out "Saturnine Martial and Lunatic" which is a collection made in the 90s, it includes their more obscure ones like Schroedinger's Cat, Ashes to Ashes, Sea Song, and others. If you like this album, you will love it. It is probably available on Amazon.
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOttt!!! I can't believe it- Suffer the Children live!! - I didn't know it existed... :) :D :D :D
I wondered if Caroline was going to make an appearance for one wild moment.. :) :)... apparently she did the 'child' vocals... does anyone know if that's true?
the beauty of this song is the lyrics .songs in the 80s pop charts were usually frivolous affairs but TFF lyrics were deep and emotional, and usually not in in the "boy loves girl"way.
i grew up with this shit, stolen record at carrefour, teenage years, absolutely swear by it. now why don't you try out some charly garcía songs to go with these same years?
'the hurting" was and is and will always be a class album, curt and roland had two different voices thats why tff are the best 80s band in my view, love the end of this song with curts ex doing some lyrics.
Really? I didn't know that. Dang. I wish she had been there live becuase I've been trying to catche a glimpse of the lucky lady for a long time! But I suposse she values her privacy... crazy.
Exactly angeldixie. Curt and Roland have two different voices that blend well together in harmony, and each has amazing vocals in their solos. Together, they were absolutely sensational.
Such a beauitful song, telling a story of their rough childhood, but still passing it off as music. Tears For Fears are geniuses, one of the many 80's bands that are. 70's and 80's music is the reason I live, not to mention Roland Orzabal (faints at name), today's music is nothing but rapping and people that can't sing, utter crap!
why , why couldn't i have been there, or any other place that i discover now, only to realize i have missed out on so much, being born in '85!?! it should've been '65... just my thought...
Love this song. When I was young I always hoped I would not turn into on of those old farts that listen to nothing but old crap. Now in my 40s I find myself listening to a lot this old stuff. I want to listen to new artists but I just can't get into this corporate garbage they pass off as music nowadays. And they wonder why their sales are steadily going down.
Don't feel bad man because all of the old stuff is way better than the current music that is out.I'd take the music from the 80's and 90's than this mellinium shit any day.
I think Tears For Fears would be wise to get back to more of an electronica-based sound if they are going to do another album. This stuff is terrific.
I taped "Suffer The Children" off of WLIR-FM (Long Island, NY - yeah!) years ago; it was part of the King Biscuit Flower Hour. Roland chastised the Bat Cave right before they broke into doing this. It remains my ultimate favorite of that concert, and it's super to see your video. Thanks so much.
I discovered this song by accident and I was baked and I swear it was magical..

no other band comes close to the passion of their music.. unbelievable.
"suffer the children" really is the base or beginning point of Roland Orzabal's direction in music

@melissastrawbridge- That's true. Apparently Caroline's vocal samples were used sometimes for the live performances of this song.

I was looking for 'Suffer the Children' with Napalm Death, I had no idea that Tears for Fears had made a song with the same name.
Not what i was looking for but not too bad either. Maybe I should get myself a Tears for Fears album :)
