sie haben das gemacht, was linken park so berühmt macht, mal was verändert. man merkt das aus der spaß domäne auch ernste töne klingen können, ob das nun was mit der scheidung zu tun hat oder nicht ist dabei eher nebensächlich. hauptsache ist, dass die musik zwar anders, aber dennoch nicht schlecht ist und es sind doch auch ein paar "alte" klänge zu hören.

I don't mean this in a bad way, but its hard to believe its the same band. I mean, listen to these songs, then go back and listen to "All She's Got", "In Too Deep" or "Another Time Around"! Its crazy! The only things that resemble each other is Derycks voice. Other than that... its just so wierd. But they're still awesome, SUM 41 FOR LIFE!

it's called maturing. every band goes through it. people are hating on this album because they expect it to sound like an exact replica of AKNF, DTLI, or Chuck. if people expect that for each release they'll be in for a massive disappointment.

another similar band you can look at is blink-182. check out buddha and then listen to their s/t album. there's a huge difference.

@crazybaseballdude12 Yes, I'm aware of that, but Sum 41 matured in a rather different way to the way blink-182 did. Only the first 2 albums of Sum 41 sounded similar, every album following was almost in entirely different genres. Blink, on the other hand, seemed to keep a similar style going from Buddha right up to Enema of the state. Then Take Off Your Pants And Jacket, while still having songs resembling previous albums, introduced new elements before changing entirely for the self titled, IMO

Very true. However, I think the lack of Dave is what is causing their change. Infected and Chuck were much heavier. They started to get lighter when he left the band. The only difference blink really had was replacing Travis Barker for Scott Raynor (following Dude Ranch). They went in a more mainstream direction when Travis joined. Judging by the four songs I listened to, I'm expecting this to be a huge improvement from UH and bring them back in the right direction.

@crazybaseballdude12 Regardless, I preferred blink's style from, and including, Dude Ranch. As for Sum 41 and SBM - you don't have to worry, its a bajillion times better than Underclass Hero... I actually have the album... lets just say I didn't exactly get it legally, but I genuinely couldn't wait, and my local music store only stock crappy r'nb now,so I'd no choice. SBM may be one of their bests. I still prefer AKNF (call me oldskool!) but SBM is a definate second for me. You'll love it, man.

I really wish people would realize Sum 41's music being different every time happens for a reason. They're influenced by real-life experiences. That's what makes them a great rock band I think. And for those of you who wish Dave Brownsound was back in the band, you might as well just forget about it. Dave left for his own reasons, and he won't come back. He's still friends with the guys anyway. It's not like he left because something bad happened to him. He just wasn't happy. I know, he told me.

I only like the songs with alot of heavy shit like 'Jessica Kill' and 'Holy Image of Lies'. Everything else sounds really pop and melodic. Another thing is, alot of the songs sound poorly mixed, it made it sound like they were in a hurry to get it out. And alot of songs arent original, it feels like ive heard them before. I love Sum 41 but this new sound doesnt fit Sum 41... :P

But "What am I to say" "Time for you to go" and "Baby you don't wanna know" sound very poppy, which is why I am not fond of them so far but I'll wait until I can hear the full songs.

I don't think it sounds anything like mcr, maybe the singing sometimes (a LITTLE bit) but the sound is like chuck, DTLI and UH mixed together with some "different" sounding parts. Apparently this album has a lot of changes of tempos, chord progressions and styles all in one song; like soft to heavy, fast to slow, dark to light and the changes happen when you least expect them to; none of that happens in pop music. This album won't be as poppy as mcr.

but yea everyone has their own opinion....personally the only album's from sum 41 that i like so far are DTLI and Chuck...but this new stuff sounds pretty legit so far.....

I'm Excited for allll the songs and love what i've heard for everything except two parts;

The first is the last part of holy images of lies (The first parts awesome)

First off, I'm SOOOO STOKED for this album. God this album really does has a thousand sounds! ANd these 30 seconds Definately don't nearly give a full impression of the songs. I mean look at blood in my eyes. The whole break down and the amazing riffs aren't included. All i'm saying is if the previews are this good, they must be hiding pure gold :D Oh and "what am I to say" really sounds like something that would get a lot of radio play for a slow song. We shall see!
