To ALL saying use Alt + F4. Doing that will definitely cause corruption in core game files loaded into your memory. You should never ever force exit out of a game that has loaded written and readable memory. Only use it if your game actually freezes.
@JuddMan03 My bad for not just saying you'll lose unsaved data. How do you think you lose that data? magic? lol. but yea I'm not talking about library or executable files being corrupt. :D
@PatJWmiller any game that corrupts save files by a forced exit is very badly coded. the only thing you shouldn't do is force exit or pull the plug while it's saving and even then it should only be able to corrupt the save it was in the middle of writing.
the first time i played AC i searched for the exit button....and searched...and searched...and searched... well, in those days i had a great hobby... xD
Glad you've shown this. I was literally screaming at my computer in frustration trying to find a way to exit it. Are Ubisoft mentally deranged!!! No amount of money spent on advertising is going to compensate the negative publicity of infuriating customers.
Sure it's a crap system of exiting, but surely even a five year old would have the sense to provide adequate instructions on how to do so. Why spend 10's of thousands developing a game and miss something so obviously fundamental. What Morons!
The first time I tried to quit it, which was about 10 minutes ago, I got only to the "Press any key" screen, I didn't even bothered searching the depths of the game for an exit button sine it was nowhere to be found. But the number of steps is not the problem, I'm sure a third of the games out there have as many steps to do.. the REALLY bad and annoying thing here is the fact that you have to wait for it to LOAD about four fucking different times, which takes a shit ton of time...
I literally had to alt+tab out of AC just to google "how to exit Assassin's Creed", since I was reluctant to alt+F4 it. Then, hilariously, after learning how to from this video (thank you for clueing my in that it's not even worth bothering) the game crashed when I tried to go back to it. Surprise, surprise.
I just got this game and when I had to click through all those menu screens.. menu screens that had to load... I thought I was doing something wrong and had missed a button somewhere.
When I ended up at the select profile I KNEW I was doing something wrong and googled for the solution. But no.. turns out this IS the way to exit the game the manual way xD
I'm pretty sure that the guy who was able to upload a video on YouTube doesn't need your little dumbass 14 year old advice about pressing Alt + F4 to quit.
@arlecchinasaurus in literally EVERY OTHER PC GAME THAT HAS EVER BEEN MADE you only have to press escape once then quit. There is NO REASON FOR THIS WHATSOEVER.
thats fucking nuts, quit to desktop should be 2 clicks at the absolute max. NFSU2 which is an ancient port handled it fine, press Q (or whatever you assigned to quit) the click yes.
Hilariously bad design and a pretty poor port. Well, that's pc gaming for you nowadays, watered down ports of even more watered down console originals. Nothing against consoles mind you, but they often fuck up pc gaming due to this bullshit porting, not to say you can't find good gaming moments on the consoles, cause you can, but poor ports and buggy implementations tarnish their image and reputation with pc gamers.
YOU COULD JUST CLICK CTRL+ALT+DELETE, SELECT TASK MANAGER, GO TO PROCESSES, AND KILL THE PROCESS OF ASSASSIN'S CREED I. ONLY 5 OR 6 PUSHES/CLICKS.
Ctrl+Alt+Delete>Start Task Manager>Click the 'Processes' tab (or it selected by default)>Click Assassin's Creed I process>Click 'End Process' or press 'Delete'>Confirm 'End Process' or press 'Enter'. Reduces clicks by 50% and reduces lots of time waiting for the loading screens.
Using the "power" button (PS button on the controller actually) has the same effect as ALT+F4, so you're just restricting yourself to have something to complain about.
...or you could just hit Alt-F4. It's right n the manual. Furthermore, Alt-F4 is not a "force quit" of any kind, it's a legacy key combination that many games still honor. Try it next time you're playing an MMO. Many of them bring up the "Are you sure" dialogue.
Really, how is it Ubisoft's fault you can't be arsed to read a manual... or did you not get one for some reason?
@townparkradio No. ALT+F4 is not a key combo that games just honour, it's a Windows shortcut for "Close Current Window". It is the least advisable method to closing down an Application. It's the equivalent to clicking the little red X on window'd applications.
@theNumberOne Alt-F4 is a legacy key combination. It comes originally from Xerox systems, starting form 1973, to terminate topmost applications. It is not and never ever has been an instant process termination in Windows OS. Unless you are using one of the MS "visual" languages, you have to specifically program your applications to respond to Alt-F4. Even if you are using one, it's still optional. It helps if you know what you're talking about before trying to sound smart.
@bladerunner12@townparkradio : Actually he's wrong, and I'll tell you why. I'm referring to the modern Windows, and I simplified my response down a little more. In Windows when you press ALT+F4, the OS interrupts the application and fires a Window Close event. Games can capture this event and handle it however they wish (shutdown the process, ignore the event and allow the API to kill the window, or question the user and deny the event, etc). I never said it terminated the application.
@theNumberOne I fucked up that first sentence. Im referring to a modern Windows OS, not Xerox, DOS, or any other legacy OS. My original response was simplified, but it appears that was a mistake when someone was expecting a more technical response.
@1JAMROCK1 They don't dumb down a game so that it fit a console, they are improving previous mistakes which led to many patches, errors, bugs and similar shit. However, the potential of consoles which are outdated isn't still matched up with a game that can do it. Quite frankly, I find it amusing that even after 5 years PS3 + Xbox 360 are in the pretty much same level like PC gaming, if not - better because of many great Japanese games. I also find amusing to see crazy PC snobs who never played.
Oh no don't get me wrong, I will agree to there being more and even better games for consoles than for PC - at least recently. But A good PC will have more raw power both CPU and GPU + RAM. If used correctly (see crysis), it can do wonders. Even most games, when you do take the graphics settings to the max on a PC, it will look better than any console and you could get even higher resolutions (2560*1600) than just 1080p.
@1JAMROCK1 I couldn't care less for graphics in games. Recently games being better for consoles? That's not true, sorry. I still remember how expensive was the PC up until 1997. year and games were scarce. After Half-Life things changed and thanks to the Counter-Strike people aggressively switched onto PC and many game places opened for it. Counter-Strike and Warcraft. However, i still remember Sierra era of gaming, best of all! New games are stupid at best.
@c1k4ml3kc3 Well Graphics does matter in adding to the realism and visual feel of the game. But PC games have been around and doing well even before HL and CS. Yea I have spent hours at lan cafe's running red alert cs unreal... but don't forget Duke Nukem, Doom etcc.. Yes PC's weren't as common back then. But a PC does provide for more options features and flexibility than a console if affordable. Personally I think there is room for them all :P And dude, new games are as good if not better.
@1JAMROCK1 In adding to the realism and visual feel of the game made a constant stupidity and vortex of games that look alike having only couple of great games for PC such as Magicka, League of Legends, Demigod & Portal 2. When I play a game I want to feel "Wow, I like", not to see same boring shit made into an over-hyped same boring shit. DOS games have soul. I don't care for option features when playing a game. Personally, I care about playing it rather than nodding it. No satisfaction in mod.
@1JAMROCK1 I'm pretty sure that PC gaming wasn't as popular as before Half-Life 1. Sure, Doom was around, but HL 1 changed everything!
However it's also unfair to say how consoles sucked back than, i still remember playing on Genesis as well as commodore 64 + Super Nintendo. No PC game can ever change the feeling that I had while playing all those great Japanese RPG's such as Final Fantasy, Shining Force 2, Chrono Trigger etc. A game needs to posses a soul, not pretty graphics.
@1JAMROCK1 It may be that gaming production went into huge rush, it became something mainstream for the youth. It amuses me to see that actual majority of World of Warcraft players don't even know who was Arthas before he was Lich King. These new games are boring, repetitive (cliche) and stupid. Even assassins creed. Was fun for a while but nothing else. Same goes for many more games because of the lousy companies who care only for money. Last good game that I remember was Legacy of Kain : SR...
@1JAMROCK1 You know, I want creativity and originality and I found both in playing console games, especially PS3. That's why I can't agree with your stupid comment how PC's better for gaming. I know that you said that while being in affect, but it's just wrong on so many different levels.
@c1k4ml3kc3 Two things: one, maybe you're just choosing the wrong games. Two, PC has far more variety with the indies taking up home with Steam and the like.
@RoboBalo Indie games are just fine. Try Dong dong never dies. However, I'm not choosing "wrong games"...there's no such thing as "wrong games". I grew up on games of all sorts and I don't intend to actually withdraw from playing certain type of games either. However, you're not providing any particularly good argument of why he games on PC are better. Quite frankly, I play on both PC and consoles and I disagree with you. Both are good in their own ways, regardless of taste.
@1JAMROCK1 And quite frankly, I'm sick of all damn PC snobs who talk shit about resolution as if it really matters for a game. I won't play a game because it's in hi-res, i will play the game not because it's a good eye candy but rather game-play, story, fun, something to make me have at leats a bit of experience, regardless of the system. Really, who gives a damn about resolution knows nothing about gaming at all. So, please, don't sell me that crap.
@1JAMROCK1 And, last word - Crysis was never meant to be for consoles in the first place. There's a lot of difference when trying to switch from DirectX system oriented game to an PS3 OpenGL. Game had to be rebuilt. I still remember PC snobs saying how PS3 and Xbox 360 could never run Crysis. When they run out of arguments they start with resolution and everything while maintaining a certain itch because they just don't understand why would anyone play games on consoles. Stupid fucks.
@c1k4ml3kc3 if you did notice Crysis 2 - maps wern't as large as Crysis and they refrained from using the dense forests and graphics intensive scenes. When the developers themselves have said the Graphics cards alone are holding them back, who are we to argue ? bf3blog.com/2011/04/dice-consoles-are-holding-pc-games-back/
@1JAMROCK1 Consoles are not holding PC games back. Developers can do whatever they well please. Thank THEM because they want more money, don't bash consoles. Whoever didn't play at consoles know shit about them. Whoever says that strategy and fps are better for consoles is an idiot. Whoever says that console controls suck is a moron. Et cetera... regards
This is why I didn't even finish the subhuman game. If I press escape and move my mouse over the Quit option, I want to QUIT the fucking game. This is like trying to figure out a corporate bureaucracy. Waste of time and effort. And an insult to my intelligence. But what do you expect from people who cater to console mental midgets?
@moizeus or because consoles have simply been made to be easier to figure out, if PC games was changed so that the Windows key etc led to another screen with a quit or hide menu thing they would probably have used that, its easy to see that Ubisoft didn't think this through but still its not the consoles fault, while some people doesn't see consoles as the future, products like smartphones have shown that products sell better if you simplify them to make them easier to use for the casual user.
@moizeus (part 2 of my comment), if you look at it in one way then PC games are lacking behind when it comes to gaming in general, most people just want to play games and in that case its easier to buy a console rather than buying a new computer and having to make sure the game you want to buy can run on it, they need to simplify while still keep the options for advanced users, its what Google have done with Android etc, keep it simply and hide but no remove advanced options.
@TheAlpeXi the PC's aren't lagging behind because really, how are you going to top a PC? the thing is ,as we should all already know, development. developers simply prefer working for consoles and pieces of equipment that won't be changing any time soon. therefore they target that set of equipment first, and port it to PC while often being sloppy due to deadlines. at least the tradeoff is that for PC games, we get the tasking games of the future, and some amazing niche games
@lostabyss when it comes to graphics then no the PC is not behind but when it comes to the causal user experience it is, most people can put a game into a console and start playing with very little learning but not everyone can do that with a Computer, if there was a universal exit button like in this case it would be easier to figure out, services like steam is already trying to make the install process a little easier i guess.
fear not pc gamers, even thogh big developers are getting dumbed down to consolitis. they will get their asses fired from their own companies, just ask kotic ... meanwhile true pc developers will get all the riches and independent developers are rising like a mountain of delicious pc gaming.
press alt + enter and then the game goes into window mode then press the X and it closes, yeah its a work around for a lame ass fix that never should have made it past development and then really really really should have never made it past play testing but hey what am I going to 2 not play a sweet game cause it HARD to stop playing (literally)
wow tell me about it the first times i was like okej WTF i can quit this is bull and alt f4 later i found out how to fing quit and i was like okej thay need to ad the hot keys for the task manager to the freeking manual or alt least alt+f4 warning label i mean god dam thats just to fuking long and when ur in a hurrri i mean wtf
Everyone please sign the ECA petition at my channel. GOODKyle1 We could possibly lose the right to rated M video games like this one, even if you're over 17!
It´s because not everyone is so stupid to buy a damnshit fucking Console only to play games, but uses a PC for many different other things like wathcing porn or something
There is no "PS"-Playthingilingy on a normal PC-Keyboard, so shut the fuck up and play with your PS
@Haarkloss Consoles vs PC. Hm. No installation. No RegEntry. No System Requirements. No bugs. No silly key-mashing of the keyboard with only three keystrokes one at a time. No silly Windows LIVE game shit. No silly waiting for game to initialize - open, put disc, close - play. Consoles are great technological masterpiece. When you make one, you may talk shit about them, fool. Up until than dream on about how consoles are for kids or are irrelevant to play games on. You know nothing about games.
Love the comedy music! Not just Alt + F4, then? Dang! I'd better stop doing that or Ubisoft will tell me off and say I've a corrupted save file or I have to sign onto Windows Live for life :@(

c1k4ml3kc3 8 months ago
@c1k4ml3kc3 Two things: one, maybe you're just choosing the wrong games. Two, PC has far more variety with the indies taking up home with Steam and the like.
RoboBalo 8 months ago
@RoboBalo Indie games are just fine. Try Dong dong never dies. However, I'm not choosing "wrong games"...there's no such thing as "wrong games". I grew up on games of all sorts and I don't intend to actually withdraw from playing certain type of games either. However, you're not providing any particularly good argument of why he games on PC are better. Quite frankly, I play on both PC and consoles and I disagree with you. Both are good in their own ways, regardless of taste.
c1k4ml3kc3 8 months ago
@c1k4ml3kc3 Really, they are better for gaming. Try Aquaria.
RoboBalo 8 months ago
@1JAMROCK1 And quite frankly, I'm sick of all damn PC snobs who talk shit about resolution as if it really matters for a game. I won't play a game because it's in hi-res, i will play the game not because it's a good eye candy but rather game-play, story, fun, something to make me have at leats a bit of experience, regardless of the system. Really, who gives a damn about resolution knows nothing about gaming at all. So, please, don't sell me that crap.
c1k4ml3kc3 8 months ago
@1JAMROCK1 And, last word - Crysis was never meant to be for consoles in the first place. There's a lot of difference when trying to switch from DirectX system oriented game to an PS3 OpenGL. Game had to be rebuilt. I still remember PC snobs saying how PS3 and Xbox 360 could never run Crysis. When they run out of arguments they start with resolution and everything while maintaining a certain itch because they just don't understand why would anyone play games on consoles. Stupid fucks.
c1k4ml3kc3 8 months ago
@c1k4ml3kc3 if you did notice Crysis 2 - maps wern't as large as Crysis and they refrained from using the dense forests and graphics intensive scenes. When the developers themselves have said the Graphics cards alone are holding them back, who are we to argue ? bf3blog.com/2011/04/dice-consoles-are-holding-pc-games-back/
1JAMROCK1 8 months ago
@1JAMROCK1 Consoles are not holding PC games back. Developers can do whatever they well please. Thank THEM because they want more money, don't bash consoles. Whoever didn't play at consoles know shit about them. Whoever says that strategy and fps are better for consoles is an idiot. Whoever says that console controls suck is a moron. Et cetera... regards

@1JAMROCK1 That's the way BF3 is being done.

BuxarooBanzai 10 months ago
this is because of faggy consoles.
moizeus 10 months ago
@moizeus or because consoles have simply been made to be easier to figure out, if PC games was changed so that the Windows key etc led to another screen with a quit or hide menu thing they would probably have used that, its easy to see that Ubisoft didn't think this through but still its not the consoles fault, while some people doesn't see consoles as the future, products like smartphones have shown that products sell better if you simplify them to make them easier to use for the casual user.
TheAlpeXi 10 months ago
@moizeus (part 2 of my comment), if you look at it in one way then PC games are lacking behind when it comes to gaming in general, most people just want to play games and in that case its easier to buy a console rather than buying a new computer and having to make sure the game you want to buy can run on it, they need to simplify while still keep the options for advanced users, its what Google have done with Android etc, keep it simply and hide but no remove advanced options.
TheAlpeXi 10 months ago
@TheAlpeXi the PC's aren't lagging behind because really, how are you going to top a PC? the thing is ,as we should all already know, development. developers simply prefer working for consoles and pieces of equipment that won't be changing any time soon. therefore they target that set of equipment first, and port it to PC while often being sloppy due to deadlines. at least the tradeoff is that for PC games, we get the tasking games of the future, and some amazing niche games
lostabyss 10 months ago

It´s because not everyone is so stupid to buy a damnshit fucking Console only to play games, but uses a PC for many different other things like wathcing porn or something
There is no "PS"-Playthingilingy on a normal PC-Keyboard, so shut the fuck up and play with your PS
Haarkloss 1 year ago 54
@Haarkloss
Rofl @ porn being the first of "many different" things you use your PC for.
tibiasuckness 10 months ago
@Haarkloss Consoles vs PC. Hm. No installation. No RegEntry. No System Requirements. No bugs. No silly key-mashing of the keyboard with only three keystrokes one at a time. No silly Windows LIVE game shit. No silly waiting for game to initialize - open, put disc, close - play. Consoles are great technological masterpiece. When you make one, you may talk shit about them, fool. Up until than dream on about how consoles are for kids or are irrelevant to play games on. You know nothing about games.
