In his 1st graphic novel, "It's a Good Life, If You Don't Weaken", Seth pays homage to the wit & sophistication of the magazine cartoon.Disaffected by the crassness of contemporary culture,Seth takes refuge in a quest to uncover the life & work of Kalo,a forgotten New Yorker cartoonist from the 1940s...
@thisschisthappens LOL...good point. The funny thing is, Im not sure why I was so gung ho about it. Im from Pickering! LOL. Drunk most likely. Anyway, for the sake of useless musical knowledge, after doing research, it was recorded in the Dirty ol 'Shwa at some place called the "Parkwood Estate". Wherever the hell that is. Oh and Uxbridge kicks ass, I have family that lives on Lakeridge just above Lakeridge Ski Resort. Beautiful area. PEACE. \m/
After the cartoonist Gene Byrnes drew the panel It's a Great Life If You Don't Weaken, which was syndicated by the New York Evening Telegram from 1915 to 1919, the phrase became a rallying cry for American soldiers during World War I.
This band is one of the most signifagent ensembles in music history. Whether from Canada or from the Moon, important music has been shared with the world. Personally I am forever grateful for both the poetry and the music. Most probably are not aware of what an extensive and diverse catalogue has been produced. Lyrically, as important as Leonard Cohen, musically, on par with the best of the best. What The Hip has never overlooked is that great music is not about notes, its about the space nbtwn

It's about the dichotomy of staying true to your ideals versus "selling out." The Hip are playing a private party in the video to a bunch or bored, disinterested rich. For a "good life" they weakened and sold out. It's the fight against weakening that is the issue. Discuss.
They're certainly not needed at this posh backyard-court party playing to rich dummies who wouldn't know good music if you plastered it to their forehead. The Hip are the 'people's' band, and by gosh I love 'em.
i notice you post something bad about the hip in alot of their videos you must be really jealous of how great Canadian icon they are and no one knows you
I've always loved all the bare trees in this video...the ones in the beginning and the ones used as their stage backdrop; they seem to go with the song.
