I love the sportsmanship between these two. The pat on the backs at the end after shaking the umps hand almost makes it look like it was a just a great practice match
i counted it 12 times in just under 10mins by peter fleming imagine how many times he said it in the full match which was a few times longer than this in terms of actual tennis play.
At 1:13 when Fed breaks serve in the second game of the match the idiotic commentator says that Federer finally breaks through.. I mean.. What kind of a moron would you have to be to talk such shit during a great match...
@addy72222 Well you hear about 1% of the whole match commentary in this video, there's more time spent not playing points in a match than there is playing points. The commentator is called Peter Fleming, he won loads of double tournaments partnering John McEnroe years ago, and I'm sure anyone that watches sky sports coverage of the tennis will agree he is one cool ass mother fucker, and one of the best commentators and pundits. Now, I'm going to watch this video for the 4th time in 2 days! :)
@slimjimmyg Beastly hehe, and yea I do know it's Peter Fleming, but he does get on my nerves a bit tbh :P, and yea, Can never get tired of watching Federer can we :)
@rodolfo220795 well the fact that on his tv it was in HD, doesn't make it HD here on youtube does it? SO its a fail, just change the name and stop bullshiting
OMG nadal... seems to me, that some aspects of his game might have improved till today, like serve or volleys, but i think his footwork has decreased... still an amazing fighter and player.
nothing is as insightful and profound as the meaningful quote as told by this tennis commentator that touches you deep down and gives you that warm fuzzy feeling of happiness and pure inspiration: "oh yes!"
I miss the Prime Federer. His best was better than anyone else's in history. There was no ball he couldn't get to, no shot he couldn't come up with, and every return was magical. Not to mention his ultra-dangerous serve.
Djokovic may have a win streak now, and Nadal may be 5 years younger than Fed, but at his best, on a neutral or fast surface, Federer was unbeatable.
@whutbrush I think that's the problem. He was so unbeatable that he didn't need to improve. Nadal and Djokovic had to incorporate things that Federer had (and most players had to start incorporating more all-court tactics into their strategies, more spin etc.). It's hard having an easy time at the top because you end up losing the drive to improve, and I think that's what screwed Federer over. A drive to improve could have canceled his slower footspeed.
@whutbrush Good point, I wish chair umpires had the balls to call out Nadal for his time delays. And other pros too, of course. It's stated very clearly in the rules that it's 20 seconds between points. If the players want otherwise, they just have to change the rules.
@Markiash : Nadal and Djokovic have improved quite a bit, but not so much that the best version of Federer still wouldn't beat them on his preferred surfaces. The guy was just plain magical at his best.
What we saw at 4:20 in this video was an example of what has made his match up with Nadal so difficult. Nadal beat Fed so many times on clay that he got into his head, and it shows. When Fed has opportunities, he suddenly blows it with errors. 4-1 2nd set 08Wimb, lost it. 4-2 1st 09AO, lost it..
@whutbrush the problem with fed is he can't play mechanical. His game built to toy and nadal don't buy this. He can be beaten by retreiving non stop. IMO he should play more direct, try to hit flat and lines on first stroke. He is hitting a distance from the lines, it is safe tactic against lower ranked players to prevent upset but not against nadal. Prime sampras can break nadal easier than federer.
@youziness bull shit, sorry but thats complete bull shit. Nadal is the best their has ever been on clay(except maybe bjorg). And he already has six french opens and hes only like 24-25. hell probably win 4 or more
@youziness totally agree....when you watch nadal play and then you watch red...you think ..hey this guy nadal can never beat fed.....psssh......someone said something about fed losing to nadal soo many times on clay....this is crazy..not the comment...nadal is in fed's head..and he knows it..i think he knew fed coould have beaten him at roland garros 2011....but rederer thinks he needs to play too well against rafa when he makes one erroe she chocks....sad to watch..fed could have had lik 24 sla
IMO, this is Federer's best match ever against Nadal. Even better than the 2007 Masters Cup semi-final. Some of the rallies in that match were unbelievable.
@Zozim57 Back then nadal play too far behind the baseline. He is a complete different playa now than he was back then. I would say nadal is the second best hardcourt playa behind fed. I would say djoko is the best hardcourt now. U must also understand this is indoor tournament. Nadal is not good indoor. I look on his record on carpet and it's terrible. Nadal was second best to federer on grass. Federer was second best to nadal on clay.
WARNING: when playing against Federer, don´t hit the ball to his backhand. consequences may be: severe feelings of being raped, depression, feeling like a complete useless piece of crap, embarrassment, or retiring from tennis. TIP: when playing against Federer, you should tape his hands and legs together, and chain him to a wall, in order to win. Desired results are not guaranteed, or may vary
hay, thnks, fed beat nadal, this is what im waiting for, from 2004 to 2006 i just checked their matches and i found this video, finally fed beat him. im not saying i do not like nadal, he is so good. i would say he can really beat and beat over and over again.

Zaneization 8 months ago
@Zaneization I know right? It seems that Federer is a shadow or his former self.
It's the common reasons though:
He's older now.
He has a family.
No more drive, now that he's won everything.
As a result, he probably doesn't put in as much time in training as he did before (very important), and a family consumes a lot of time and energy.
And finally, Djokovic and Nadal both improved quite a bit.
Markiash 8 months ago
