  • this is the only style i ever knew and im riding like this for 25 years...i hate carving

  • This doesn't look like any fun at all. ride sideways.

  • Ahh, the classic hotdogger style of the 80s. This is how I was trained, the tight skis, paper width apart, Christy skids on every turn, and never let your upper body come off the fall line. Drive the tip down for initiation and push the tails out to get the skis to move.

Looks great, terrible way to ski. You have to JAM the tails into the hill on every turn, burning off your thighs. Completely exhausting, especially in the steeps.

Let your ski do the work. It's got a sidecut for a reason.

  • What type of ski is best for this type of skiing ?

  • @30azzazel Slalom skis.......they are short skis around 160cm. You dont need to ski like this anyways because only a skilled professional can do it.

  • @lannlann Skilled, sure. Professional? No required.

  • @30azzazel 20 year old straight skis with rear entry boots.

  • There are children viewing this video, working on learning and they do not need your smut. Nasty stuff, and you should be ashamed of yourself. It is easy to be a smutty loudmouth on the web, but I bet you would not be so daring in person. You need to wash you mouth, and keyboard in strong lye soap. If you do nto like what the skiier is doing, go somewhere else!!

  • @SqueesitPlease That comment was definitely the shittiest comment I've ever seen in the history of youtube. Can someone quote a shittier comment so that I can stop thinking about how shitty this guys comment was?

  • @kardona91 Man Im really sorry.

You don't happen to wear sunglasses when you ski do you?

Do you make tight radius turns with consistent pole plants?

If so, you need to remove that dildo from your loose ass hole and consider the fact that this looks ridiculously stupid.

  • @SqueesitPlease Oops, grammar police just rendered your comment incomprehensible.

  • Beautiful!

  • Подумаешь! я тоже ТАК умею! :-)

  • This looks not that old school turns for me.

  • I work really hard at this style of skiing. I pick the fall line, keep my shoulders perpendicular to the line and hold the corridor as one writer terms it to no more than 12 feet. I'm basicallly trying to "push the mountain down the hill" so it requires a tremendous amount of energy and stamina. My goal is to always ski with a speed such that I can stop within one turn if necessary. I have found this style totally useless on ice. Comments? My solution to ice is called Apres - starting at noon.

  • This is how to f***ing ski!

  • @myspamaccount12345 In 1986.

  • Note; Meant to state it will NOT happen on some skis.

  • this is part one of six. part six is short radius pure carved turns. What you miss here is the instructional exercises for development of this and the other 5 stages.

  • Thanks for the great video of short radius turns. Correct me if I am wrong, but when I see the push of snow off the ski at the maximum torque of the turn, is this not pushing and skidding, not edging and carving?? That is, are these turns basically a way to control speed by pushing down on the snow at the maximum force point, more a zig zag than a curve or carve.

  • @busapp its called a brushed carve by many, the turn is mostly completed by tipping the skis and flexion/ extension, the push is extension flexion is in the transfer between turns, he is not "pushing" his skis out of the groove, rather the skis are at the limit of grip

  • It would be good if the skier now puts on the video in slow motion, and then gets really up close. Then describe in words what he is doing. However, these are good shots of good skiing.

  • very helpful just to see the short turns in action

  • not one turn is a carve

  • @Il0vekramer thats why its called classic sillyyyyyyyy!!!!

  • @Il0vekramer Short radius turns cannot be carved.

  • @jimidee33 of course they can. leave traintracks from top to bottom. u can see them in the video...unfortunately, they arent from him

  • @Il0vekramer It depends on the radius of the turn. If the turn is too short ala short swing the mechanics of the ski don't come into play. To carve a turn the ski has to have enough room to use the skis design. So if the ski is short enough, then yeah it can happen, but if one shortens up the turn too much it will happen on some skis It also depends on the steepness and type of terrain.

  • @jimidee33

Thx for this explanation - good to keep in mind 'cz I've skied (too) many supershort skids until recently.

  • @YogisAAA You're welcome although it is hard with words alone to explain about the shape of turns and how they relate to a skis design. Generally for carving skis, shorter skis carve shorter radius turns. Longer skis need more room as they have a larger built in radius. And as I noted terrain steepness and snow conditions come into play as well.

  • @jimidee33 They can be

  • @mooseling1 Yes, if the turn has enough radius to allow the mechanics of the ski to come into play. "Classic" short radius turns are not carved.

  • @jimidee33 Within a narrow corridor of say 2 metres i agree it is impossible to carve short turns, at least properly, you see many people doing long radius short arc carving turns to stay in the corridor. But from personal experience, with a good set of slalom race skis it is possible to carve (comparatively) very short turns. It all depends on how you are defining 'short' turns....

  • @mooseling1 I agree completely. And you have put it very well.

  • Those are great turns, very advanced shovel edging skills and clean finish/transition. Those turns can be made in any conditions and in any terrain.

  • This first guy is pretty smooth but is sitting back a bit too much for me. You can see it between turns as he doesn't keep the skis on the snow and many times he picks up the inside ski. I'm wondering how old this is.

  • 역시 베르게가 짱이야! 정말 쩐다, 쩔어.

  • Valgus Malalignment

  • Awesome skiing

  • Excellent skiing! Wonderful form.

I would love to see the same video, reshot, on an icy day! Now THAT would be impressive.

  • A++ turns... I wish i could turn like that :/

  • The best feeling in the world...

  • ...good point...something to aspire to though...

  • This is some nice snow, its harder on icy /hard snow.

  • This is skiing.

  • sugoi

  • Richard I really like your skiing, best on the internet.

  • Now were talking very good turns and high in the c. If we add absorbing and extending we are skiing moguls. Excellent

  • Bajar así es el sueño de cualquier esquiador... ¿ Alguien puede decirme como conseguirlo?
