  • You and your keymagic made me go purchase a second hand Roland XP-30. XP-30 was my first ever synth. Can't wait to get it (back).

  • @Robbinsffxi Have fun with it!

  • basic...

  • If you were to plug one of these into a computer via a midi cable, could you save edited sounds and re-amp them? If so what program would you use?

  • I have 3 of these ....If there was one box I could have... it would be one of these ...

You make great demos Michael !!

  • @dgcmusi Thanks.

  • 1.27 sounds nice balearic guitar)

  • Fantasia is definitely Janne Wirman's sound right there. =D

  • The fantasy bell sounds or waveforms on the JV 1080 are actually very good.

  • great playing as always. does this synth come with any good factory pads or strings?

  • @culturaleyes I think so. All of the patches in my JV1080 demo videos are factory patches. There are additional sounds available via the expansion cards.

  • Hello. I have an Ensoniq VFX-SD. I do need more sounds, and the sounds on this synthesizer is symply amazing that I would love one. The only thing is, can I use this with the sequencer on board the VFX-SD?

    Thanks,

    Jonathan.

  • @gerbilplay4 Just for the benifit of others, I done some research and yes I can. Great playing by the way!

  • @gerbilplay4 Good deal, thanks!

  • @gerbilplay4 I've been using a JV-1080 with a VFX-SD for >10 years. The VFX-SD can't send bank change messages, which is a limitation; I usually keep the sounds I want in the user bank. The VFX-SD seems to have a different velocity curve than Roland typically uses; I often re-program the JV's sounds to compensate, another reason to use the user bank for sounds you want. But those are nitpicks, the combination works wonderfully.

  • You sure didn't have a whole lot to say about Grungeroni at 3:16, lol

  • Does This Patch Fantasia, at sec 0.38 comes on the original rom? how likelly is to do D-50 impressions and patches with this Synth? Thanks for posting!

  • @coatipanama All these patches are from the original ROM. I am not familiar with the D-50.

  • @coatipanama yes all these sounds are the JV synths own preset sounds.

  • This sounds better then any VST i used.

  • @Dzoni73 Well the JV synth is different to VST instruments, to be honest the expansion boards are overated. Theres room for both JV synth and VST instruments.

  • hehe i could buy this thing just for the raverborg patch

  • So it the thing making the noise the midi box in which you can plug into any keyboard to control?

  • @bashten Yes.

  • @keybdwizrd Would even an old casio keyboard house a roland midi?

  • @bashten It depends upon the Casio. It would need to have MIDI in/out jacks on the back of it.

  • @keybdwizrd mine does, so i would be in business if i were to buy one eh?

  • @bashten Yes, you would also need a MIDI cable to connect the MIDI OUT of the Casio to the MIDI IN on the JV-1080. And amplifier/speakers for the JV-1080.

  • where can you buy this?

  • can i play a yamaha pss (old keyboard with the sounds of jv 1080?

  • @korgpadude if it has midi then you should be able to

  • The nylon guitar sounds realistic, the other sounds are very rich and the bell chime sounds are sweet

  • That's awesome! I have a Yamaha PSR-2100 arranger keyboard, which has 824 authentic instrument Voices, (338 Panel, 480 XG,16 Drum/SFX Kits),

If I hook this up to it, will it be LIMITED to the 824 voices OR will I have full access to what's available on the JV1080?

  • You would have access to all sounds in both instruments.

  • Can anyone in this world tell is the 2080 that warm like the 1080?

Or do thay have the same sound engine?, I don`t care about the effects

    Are 2080 and 1080 sound same ?

  • Can monophonic mode be used by this module?.

I want know if it is possible to do a sound as the jens johansson's lead. Kinds regards!

  • Offhand, I believe there are some mono patches in the JV1080 and most synths have a mono mode. But you may want to see if there's a manual available at the Roland website.

  • what a great demo.....thanks for player.

  • techno expansion has new sounds? like trance leads, synth basses etc?

    how much include??

  • I have a Roland XP-80 and the sounds are almost the same, it's like a rack version of the XP-80.

  • You are abslolutely right. They are exactly the same, except the XP-80's multiple outputs.. The XP-80 is actually closer to the JV-2080 with it's larger LCD screen.

  • i like the raverborg

  • That Pulse Lead 1 was blatently used for Final Countdown.

  • I got rid of my jv1080 for 600 pounds. it had all the expansion slots filled, which must have helped.

My rationale was id used it to death since 1994, and the multi samples were starting to sound a bit coarse.

My replacement for this titan was a motif xs and an m3, to accompany my voayger, system 100, mopho, arp2600...soundtrack work rocks! ;-)

  • what the song that you played on the wave bells patch? is it in f minor? thanx by the way, i mayby forced to buy the jv.

  • Nice demo's mate !! Cheers for posting !!

  • love the sound of the first melody

  • No expansion boards are used in the JV-1080 demos.

  • so the JV-1080 comes preloaded with all of the sounds you show in your demos?

  • Yes.

  • Are these basic sounds that come with all JV-1080, or do you have to buy expansion boards for some of the sounds

  • Wow, for an old bit of kit the JV1080 still has fantastic sounds. More so when you can pick one of these up and a controller for most entry level synths.

  • You videos are really awesome demonstrations!

Any tips you would give someone like me who's trying to be as fluent on the keyboard as you?

  • I guess we are just supposed to know how to play :(

  • Well, I took regular old piano lessons for 15 years, and have been playing regularly for more than 40. If you do something long enough, I guess you can get it right now and then. :)

  • the tendons that control my pinky and ring fingers are fused on both hands :(

    no speedcore for me.

  • awsome stuff man keep it coming more vids but u should make it longer like make a sick song for all of them

  • This is no performance, it's a short introduction to the sounds.

  • Performance? Your melodic material is ripe for further eXploitation. I am frequently inspired by it and run to my keyboard.
