    TAKITANI TAKU TOA!

    TAKITINI TAKU TOAAA!!!

  • @PolynesianGirl13 Hey cutie mind translating please (:

  • @hawaiian96chence "Ehara taku toa i te toa takitahi, engari he toa takitini" is a proverb, or in Maori "whakatauki." The translation is: "A warrior's strength is not his alone, but that of many warriors." There's a lot of ways it can be interpreted, but it basically talks about unity: how working together can bring more success than working alone and also how everyone's contribution counts. That's what I think anyway.

  • Hawaiian up in here!!

  • @TheTroyinater Go get some Tan in a Can !!

  • @TheTroyinater be proud of yr color man! Be Proud To Be White!

im not racist or anything but you should be proud of who u are and not wnna change

  • @gimigalt

White people have the Teutonic Tribes, Gaelic Tribes, Scots, Norse warriors...all of them just as tribal in culture as the native Americans and islander cultures. Hell, if you don't like that, then you still can't forget the Spartans...

Asians have their own. Mongols, especially, are still considered tribal.

No such thing as having no roots like that. No such thing, ever.

  • @tristienm only whites broke out of their tribal clans way earlier than islanders. :D

  • @tristienm wtf are u talkin about?! i just said he should be proud too be who he is? ... bloody hell '' if you don't like that'' did i ever said anything about that shit?

  • great movie and love this song. I don't know why this film wasn't more popular

  • And Mahogany Rush isnt that far fare from Little wing if you can see/read patterns..

  • chur

  • Sounds like Little Wing...

  • ...builds a sort of timeless resolve.

  • I remember this maori kid at my school played this song at assembly, fuk he was the man after that.

  • I'd also like to know the lyrics.

    Can anyone help me please?

  • aroha mai whanau @evolgamer below is right song comes from Mahogony rush's Madness. Altho i dont think he was around then. But I remember them from the late 80's they were'nt very well recieved cause we all thort they were copycats of Jimi H. Anyway I think even they took the tune from a band even less popular then them.

  • fuk yer dis is crazy sum1 neeeds to remix dis

  • Does anyone know where I can find the chant to this? What is the man saying in the background, to which the group is replying? Please help me- this is for a project.

  • jake the muss is a very good actor in this movie. and proves that us maoris know how to make a good based on a true story film. :)

  • Great movie and song

PS in swedish "toa" is a slang word for toilet :P

  • @Moshlav : It means "warrior" in Maori.

  • TOA

  • TOA

  • mean maori mean tuhoe all the way

  • fuck this song is wicked love billys guitaring new zealands version of hendrix

  • @evolgamer, the name of this song, before the theft of it, is Madness. It's an early MAHOGANY RUSH song from 1972. Like everything else, you'll find it on youtube.

Search it and check it out.

  • I remember trying to see this movie 3 times at the movies & everytime it was booked out, Finally we got to see it & there wasn't a dry eye in the theatre, I guess it hit home to everyone, not just moaris. The acting is a bit dodby but one of the most powerful movies of it's time.

  • @ajbondi : I remember seeing this movie when I was younger.

I was stupid and didn't understand its true depth.

Even so, it touched me back then.

Even now, I feel it more.

This movie is truly one of the most powerful movies of all time.

  • @mofo4shoable go die in hole

  • mofo4shoable - sicko !

  • humans,we are tainted.......?

  • IM PROUD TO BE MAORI

  • and i'm jelaus of you

i'm not shame of my race

but aztec warrior insignias fall long ago

your toa still here, fighting for your people

    thats why i'm jelaus

  • I love this song, need to watch the movie, what's the song called? Anybody understand what he's saying?

  • Excellent movie, very powerful. Of course it doesn't point soley to violence within Maori families or even violence within New Zealand. Domestic violence is a harsh world reality people still don't understand the extent of unless they've experienced it first-hand. Another great New Zealand film tho.

  • The movie isn't about domestic violence, the name "Once were warriors" gives a clue to what its about

  • Actually, the main focus is on domestic violence. While it also makes references to the old traditions of the maori people and the way society has changed the some of the traditions and beliefs this is only one of the issues adressed. Perhaps you need to rewatch the movie a few times.

  • Great fucking film.

  • too damn lippy too damn smart ur a bad example for the kids

  • jack the fury is live: un mito spacca tutto e tutti ah ah ah

  • I love this film! I frikkin love this theme song aswell!

  • what's the name of this song?

  • Maori Tama Renata - once were warriors

  • Gracey was so cute

  • @Kanold Poor Gracey :'(

  • @Kanold real talk tho!

  • real talk tho!

  • @Kanold UNCLE FUCKING BULLY

  • gosh i luv this song but it always makes me ab bit sad

  • those wer the days we had sum good times too.i hated sitting in the car outside the pub

  • It just blowed my mind away O.O AWESOME SONG! i never saw the movie :(

  • I really like this song. The movie is so rough and sad, but I prefer the movie than book. I think it's just too much what Jake did to her daughter in the book...

  • my mate can play dat on da electric guitar

  • go edge rock that guitar out

  • This is a great song, i like the way the haka blends with the electric guitar, You won't find that in many maori songs

  • i cant find this song on lime wire what is it under?

  • This is a truly awesome musical piece, and maoris are great people. Thankyou for posting this.

  • wtf no1 could have done what jake did man...btw jus to clarify uncle bully is a nob cheese

  • whos playing the guitar in this?

  • i think his name is tama renata but i could be wrong, its on the end credits, he was in the movie too as the guitar player which is pretty cool.

  • Yeah bro dats the man, Tama.

  • plzz..send me this song:)

  • awesome film if someone raped my daughter id do the same thing that jake done

  • If someone raped my daughter I wouldn't bash him I'd kill him. And just for the record in the novel Jake rapes his own daughter. The movie was changed because they didn't want to hurt "jakes" career. Funny that "uncle bully's" career went from strength to strength.

Moari Rock hard. They'd rock harder if they believed it

  • gr0ss in tha b00k JAKE! rapes grace!?

  • In the first book, everyone thinks Jake raped her, and because he is so drunk, he can't remember either way. But it ends up that it wasn't him, if you read the second book.

  • I must admit that I haven't read the second book. The first was enough for me. Thanks for setting me straight. I appreciate it.

  • it was uncle bully

  • in 48 years iv never met a nasty mauori gental giants unless ur playin rugby. no offence ment if i spelt mauori wrong.great film great people!!!!!

  • too much bro

  • Great movie, absolutely haunting performances byt the actors.

  • Love this piece of music, ultimate film too.
