3:29 hey! it's not about origin, smart ass! that's all analog because this is an old plane. Modern Ukrainian planes have modern equipment. Check 'An 148' at least...
@svintsitsky - Since the plane was completed in 1988 and Ukraine wasn't an independent state at the time, it is obvious to understand Russia's claim on the plane. That is not to undermine Ukrainian ingenuity. As a Historian, I thought you would have recognized that. It is my belief both nations can be proud of this accomplishment. No matter the nationality, it is very impressive, that is coming from an American.
Hello sweetheart! I am Ukrainian-American and easily can talk and read Russian. There is no reason for you to teach me about Russian civilization, since I'm historian. One small remark to you, since you are a technician: always, always make a citation. If you are talking about such nonsense as "Russian engineers in America are constitute 50% of all" you have to make a citation, otherwise no one going to believe you. Such as I am. And yes Ukraine is not a part of Russian civilization, although
Im asking you to notice that this plane is Ukrainian. One more time- Ukrainian. Not Russian, not made by Russian/Soviet engineers, nothing of that sort. Antonov company is Ukrainian company, which based in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine. A lot of Russian people here misrepresent this machine as a Soviet/ Russian built, that is NOT true. Please keep it in mind. Thanks
@svintsitsky one big remark. Russians are every body who can talk and think on russian language. Mother Russia is are heart and soul of this planet. Lot of engineers of the world from Russia or have Russian roots. Ukraine, Belarus, Georgia, Yugoslavia and many other countries is Russian civilization! English language will never give you a chance to uderstand that, THIS is truth. In US 50% or more Russian engineers! And... my name is Anton, i'm Russian engineer. From Russia with love ;) Remember!
That's the amount of power the engines can produce. A combined thrust of 300,000 pounds means that this is the force that the engines of an aircraft generate together to push the aircraft forward by ejecting compressed air and exhaust at speed.
@2013branth A second airframe was partially constructed around the same time this one was built and plans were made over the last decade or so to complete it but work has been put on hold by Antonov several times due to funding problems.
You are all donkeys! A great country Russia! Our technique can work another 25 years and it will be nothing! You have not seen our bombs that are in storage for 50 years and are ready at any moment could fall on your head!
@Nick0920 It came from Soviet Union. It just coincindence that Antonov was located in Kiev. The general designer Oleg Antonov is from Novosobirsk, Russia where another airplain builder factory located today.
@tunkunrunk yes dear , you are right ! i like even GALAXY C-5 , AIRBUS A380 , BOEING B-52 and 747-8 , and of course ANTONOV AN 124 RUSLAN , and I LIKE SR71 , X15 , B1 , B2 , and TUPOLEV 160 ....and F117 STEALTH .
Too bad the engines only produce 50,000 lbs each (300,000 lbs total thrust). That is why it needs six. If it had modern western engines, say a GE90, it could get by with 4.
@SlavaSvarogu lol? Was designed and built at Kyiv (Ukraine) mechanical factory. Equipped with six aircraft engines of JSC "Motor Sich" (Ukraine, Zaporizhya city), electronics and navigation are also created in Ukraine. Of course there were also Russian equipment, but it was not much (December 21, 1988)
BUT in 2001 was completely renovated (new turbines, the new French and Ukrainian electronics and oth)
Biggest Ukrainian plane :)
Ukraine is now building a second AN-225(70% Completed)
if the Russians want antonov well as Russia! they also have to by name "MIG" SUkoy "(Russian-ukranian) because these planes were also built on the " CCCP"!
I dont think Russia can build these kind of Aircrafts anymore, most of their engineers have left to the west...same Russian engineers are the managers of Airbus A380 and Boeing projects now. They use same technology used to build this Antonov aircraft.
"It's not exactly state of the art" ... the plane is build in the late 80s - how exactly "state of the art" can it be in 2010 ?! that's 25 year old technology and it's the only plane in the world with such characteristics !!!
I hate how the west media has convinced all western people that if it doesnt have disco balls on the rear view mirror and leather seats with 42` plasma screens with PS3 - it's not GOOD...
@Cnupoc The B-2 was built it the 80s also (probably older). Its pack with crazy tech (no mods) that you will get shot just getting near the aircraft without the right clearance. Its not because its 20yr old tech it cant rival or even surpass some of our tech in 2011. Also the AN-225 is not the only plane that uses old school analog tech today. The B-52, still on service, uses older avionics. Trust me, I work on them. But i agree on your last statement about how other people perceives "GOOD".
@Cnupoc to be fair, yes, this is a one of a kind amazing lifter... it can do something no other airplane can. However, I fly the 747-200, which gets on with a 3 man crew, 1 FE and two pilots... the technology on the classic was designed in the mid 60's and was in production thru the mid 80's.. In the mid 80's we went to the 757/767 style 2 man cockpits with electronic systems controls, and haven't looked back.. The technology was more advanced in the west.. that is obvious.
@CE750 sure, it was more user friendly in the west it's obvious but to be honest comparing a passenger jumbo jet with a one of a kind unique cargo lifter is also obviously not appropriate. The standards for passenger jets are different. The An-225 is a six-engine design with tremendous wingspan and unique avionics equipment, which of course would require lots of other different equipment, so the crew requirements would be different of course. Never the less i agree the US planes are advanced.
@CE750 Just think about it. The plane has 32 wheels. I bet the FE somehow tracks the pressure in every wheel. That's 32 analog dials for just the tire pressure :D if it would've been digital screens it would still be an awfull lot of digital screens for the FE to keep track of.
@Cnupoc well, that's not really true... The older 747's and C-5 military transports have 18 and 20 wheels respectively and use a small 3x5" space on the FE's panel to monitor wheel temps... the newer 747's (like the -400 and -8) use a background monitoring system... unless a wheel reaches a yellow temp, there is nothing even displayed for the pilot... or, should the pilot insist on monitoring the brake temps manually, he can select the wheels/brakes page off the "systems display" screen...
@CE750 i'm talking about the an-225's wheels... it was just an example for the difference in the two technologies you were talking about in your first comment. Also the Russians do things differently than West engineers. It's just RUSSIA. Russians were always practicle and will remain such. And C-5 Galaxy ? dont compare such planes again man, you're like saying look at the light weight champion he has the same body and brain as the heavy weight champion...
@punkrockr912 Lol it's exactly that of what he's talking about. So, for example, Vivaldi is not art? A 42' plasma screen is just because it looks modern? Seriously...
@punkrockr912: That's right. This plain isn't the last word in aircraft-technology, but it does what it's build for: Taking a SHIT LOAD of cargo into the air and bringing it to it's destination. Typical Sovjet-style: It's not flashy, but it WORKS!
Wether it's +50 degree's celsius, or -50 degree's. These plains don't give a shit. And so is the crew. Personally, I like that. I like that very much.
@shadowhunter388 well that depends, H4 has 10 meter more wingspan and 6 meters more height but it loses ten meters in length and 70 tonnes in payload.
Spruce goose "flew" empty and was mostly made of wood, hence it was not half as heavy as the An225. Not to mention the Hercules H-4 (Howard Hughes himself HATED the name "Spruce Goose") still was in ground effect mode and merely left the water, but never flew higher than that. Later, more powerful versions may have flied as intended, but WW2 was already over and there was no need for a cargo plane to avoid the German submarines on the Atlantic anymore. Hence the H4 never flew
I dont get why the fuck people claim this plane as being ukranian,it was built during the soviet times when there was no such thing as ukrain,no such thing as the ukranian language.Everyone was russian, yes it was built on the land where it is called ukraine today, doesent mean it is ukrainian.
Guys, stop listen some people, who always wanted to enslave Ukrainians and our country. They will always say that all the best in former Soviet Union were made only by Russians. An-225 was really made by a lot of engineers: from Ukraine and Russia, because it was one country in that time. Maybe we'll stop this ethnic contradictions?
It is Russian plane because it was desained by russians and made by russians BUT in Ukraine because at that time it was a part of Russia and not Russia part of it...
Btw no need to reply if u want to call it Ukraine airplane then let us just meet on, that it is the airplane of CCCP ( USSR)
like how at about 4:02 when its going to take off in the back ground....just between the background and the foreground...you see none other....than an airport fire truck :P
@Neonspinnazz30 It's OK. Sorry me for too much emotions. Just russians are pain in the ass, all time they are saying that Antonov 225 is their plane :)))
@MrRuSSagent Still awesome plane nontheless, if something unfortunate ever happened to it I'd probably cry myself to sleep every night...Maybe Antonov should finish that fuselage sitting at that warehouse...
thats alotta difference between Vr and V2 gosh!!! it rotated like almost 6 seconds 0.o id tailstrike!!! and the cockpit is such a sign of the communist brand!! its just junk! think about the fuel consumption 6 engines gosh!!! -100 efficiency, beluga is way efficient... my old 767 is better :)

Wether it's +50 degree's celsius, or -50 degree's. These plains don't give a shit. And so is the crew. Personally, I like that. I like that very much.

Spruce goose is bigger but since it only flew once this is considered "Bigger" XD
shadowhunter388 1 year ago
@shadowhunter388 well that depends, H4 has 10 meter more wingspan and 6 meters more height but it loses ten meters in length and 70 tonnes in payload.
skks666 1 year ago
@shadowhunter388
McLarenMercedes 1 year ago
@McLarenMercedes I mean't wingspan and height. It actually flew but not so high up like you said but it still became airborn ONCE.
That would be so awesome though they could build a replica and make it with more up to date powerful engines for attraction lol :)

I dont get why the fuck people claim this plane as being ukranian,it was built during the soviet times when there was no such thing as ukrain,no such thing as the ukranian language.Everyone was russian, yes it was built on the land where it is called ukraine today, doesent mean it is ukrainian.
Lvieru96 1 year ago

@MrRuSSagent Still awesome plane nontheless, if something unfortunate ever happened to it I'd probably cry myself to sleep every night...Maybe Antonov should finish that fuselage sitting at that warehouse...

@MrRuSSagent thank you, its Ukraine's. BUT personally i think its both of theirs. Russia designed it, Ukraine manufactured it, IN UKRAINE.
