Stephen, I tend to think Cruz will get this -- she seems like the safer choice. My own preference, though, changes with the rise and fall of the sun. Each of the three of you present solid cases for either Cruz, Tomei or Davis. I actually feel Adams's role was the most difficult and that she delivered. I'd be happy to see any of them win except Henson. I have nothing against Taraji, but the role seemed underwritten.
It's Penelope Cruz, who has been nominated before for her THRILLING performance in "Volver" two years ago. I don't think the Acamey liked "Doubt." It was NOT a best picture nominee. And Woody! In Supporting his Actresses have a history of winning, Mira Sorvino for "Mighty Apfhrodite" and Kate Weist wonTWO awards in different years for "Bullets Over Broadway"&"Hannah&Her Sisters." Michael Caine also won a SuppActor Award for "Hannah." That's a lot o' winners!
I do agree, Stephen. On the other hand, the Academy wasn't exactly crazy about Vicky Cristina, either -- not so much as a screenplay nomination. In the end, though, Penelope was a force of nature here, and her previous nomination increases her odds, as well as the BAFTA and other recognition she's received thus far.
and Stephen had it right!

This category was very interesting. Everything was wide-open. I knew Penelope was going to win and she deserved it.

I also think it will be Penélope Cruz, BUT I would definitely prefer Amy Adams, I think she made such a great performance!! She deserves it.
