If you look back through the history of the sanfl and vfl, you'll see that Port Magpies played a handful of games throughout the 20th century against selected VFL sides and won them all. PAFC are the most successful professional sporting club in the history of Australian Sport.

John Cahill has said there were a number of players in the Collingwood team when he coached them in the 80s that would have struggled to get a game in the successful Port sides of the late 70s early 80s

Port Adelade and Collingwood were at one time both the Magpies? How could they both do that and when did PA become the Power?

@fullmoondrivein Port Adelaide were the Magpies in the SANFL, and Collingwood were and always have been (and always will be) the Magpies in the VFL/AFL. When Port joined the AFL they couldn't be called the Magpies because obviously the name was already in use. So they called them the Power.

The one tiny grudge I have with this sport is that the coaches are up in a box like some fans in a box seat. Can't we have coaches near the pitch so that coaches can have these celebrations all the time? I want to see the coaches screaming at the players during play? and how does the siren get blown? Well, they deserved the win in that there was no fault within the game. But, the Lions list was badly damaged. Just about all of them were carrying some sort of injury. They had to play the prelim away unfairly the week before.

Brown and Lynch could barely walk, just about the whole list excluding Power, Notting, Akermanis and Bradshaw were clearly hurt. Second half, after being infront at the end of the first half, they just ran out of steam.
