  • Sir, you have all the hall marks of an excellent teacher. Wishing you every success with your school.

  • @8palmsofpower I agree and me too.

  • sucks I'll stick to ninjutsu

  • Ninjutsu's good but with that attitude you won't get far. If it's nothing for you it's fine but Bagua does not suck.

  • good way of teaching.

  • ba gua quan or ba gua zhang

  • can i just ask about the thumb position i do wing chun and i've had it drummed into me to keep my thumb in a tooked in position at all times to prevent it being broken is there a reason for the thumb being stuck out waiting to be grabbed or punched???

  • not 1 finger nor joint is just left there dead & waiting to be grabbed. Each & every joint in internal art is relax & has internal strength flowing into it. Bagua focuses on 8 different changes- meaning what seems like a single palm all of a sudden changes to another kind of palm energy. Its this whole body synergy that gives internal arts its incredible versatility, flexibility&strength

  • Hi FillyH, I come from a southern Gong fu background, and so I still carry over the "tucking the thumb" habit, the shuto knife hand position. Honestly I can't tell you why it isn't used in Cheng & some other styles of Bagua. But the continuously changing aspect of bagua would make it extremely difficult to catch that lingering thumb to be broken. Yin style Bagua (from Luohan quan) used the tucked thumb in their Ox-Tongue palm position.

  • 5 STARS!

  • why is it called pa kua chuan, if there are no fists in the forms? just wondering. thanks for posting...

  • Chuan doesn't just mean fist; it's more comparable to the term boxing, which is why prior to the twentieth century, most kung fu, karate, muay thai, etc. practicioners were mostly referred to as boxers.

  • It is usually known as Bagua Zhang or Pa Kua Chang, Zhang and Chang being palm . Quan can mean fist or form of fist or boxing

  • Who is this Sifu? I really like his teaching style.

  • I really appreciated the simple explanation instead of some mystical, super-fast, performance.

    Thanks a million!

  • great explanation and excellent teaching skills!
