  • Oh you Americans shut up!

We watch all of your movies and even they aren't out in every country. It's an Aussie movie, can't you leave it at that? :\

  • ei isn't that caitlin stasey in disney's sleepover club???

  • I live in Victoria tx and I can't find this movie anywhere...eBay here I come . Can't wait to see it also waiting for red dawn remake hope they do it some justice I would really hate to dislike that flick

  • @TheJoevela Can't wait either for the remake of red dawn! expect it though to be released close to July-August, it's been delayed for a long time!

  • I liked the movie, and I am excited for the sequel, I just found it abit stupid how noone helps Australia except for New Zealand (in the 3rd book I think), even though all English speaking nations are treaty bound to help, Would have loved to see the British, Canadians and Kiwis to liberate the city. xD

  • @11Cheesewaffles Apparently though, even though our close allies don't all contribute in the actual fight, they do supply us, like Japan & America, but also for some reason PNG sends troops, apparently!

  • This is my all time favourite Movie and book series. They really need to make all 7..

  • This movie kinda reminds me of the game Homefront.

  • 7 Chinese soldiers versus girl guides and boy scouts. Well not bad if you take away the terrible acting. Could have been done easier. The Wiggles dance and sing. The Asian army flees Australia.

  • OK they need to make a second movie, this is one of my favorite movies and I both hate and like how it ended. There just needs to be a sequel to the first, oh and they need to air it in the U.S. Like this post if you agree there needs to be a second movie. :)

  • @Chalek8742 there is going to be, patience!

  • SEQUEL?!!!?

  • The trailer isn't very promising. The movie was just WOW.I enjoyed it.

  • If you loved the movie you guys need to read the book from which they based it on.- It's AMMMAZING! Seriously. "Tomorrow series" by John Marsden. HE also wrote "So much to tell you". He is my new favourite author

The best book I've read so far, and the movie is a good adaption of it. It exceeds my expectation.

  • shitty movie

  • I liked this movie better when it was called Red Dawn.

  • Yesss!!! Finally a film where an Asian guy hooks up with a White girl!!! Yessssssssss!!!

I am also an Asian guy who loves White girls. Hell, I check out White girls more than Asian girls. The thing is, a lot of White guys love Asian girls Lol.

    White guy / Asian girl

    Asian guy / White girl

Asian + White = UNITY = ONE LOVE

  • Saw this movie. It's basically Red Dawn without a hint of charm or reason for character investment.

  • uhm who are they fighting??

  • @EnvelTheTrader Koreans I think.

  • I have always wondered if the author knew of Red Dawn. The movie though is much better then Red Dawn though it covers much of the same gorund. In Red Dawn, the kids get picked off one by one. You really do not learn much about them. But Tomorrow was much better in giving the kids a personality. I thought it was well done.

  • Read the book. Didn't like it. Poor writing. And you can still write elquently to a teenage audience so don't hate.

Dragged to see this movie. I think the director had to right to change alot of things to make it somewhat realistic. There's entertainment, and I love alot of B-movie because they are purposefully not trying too hard. This movie however expects me to believe a Christian girl picking up an AK and can kill 5 soldiers with one clip. That just doesnt treat an audience with respect.

  • This movie is freaking CRAP! Just my opinion. dnt hate :)

  • THIS FILM IS AMAZING. Why isn't there a sequel >.<

  • @AcousticPlusOne i think they're starting to film it this year

  • this movie look cheesy like hell

  • you have no idea what i would do to get this movie. Make me walk from canada to sustralia, just so i can get this movie, fine i'll do it. make me climb mt. everest, i'll do it

  • RED DAWN!!!!?? They're making a remake for it this year.

  • I love this movie

  • Sorry...I saw the trailer and also said red dawn..so sue me. Anyway didnt an asian guy get the white girl in the walking dead???........I'm just say'n. Relax people... your all getting crazy on here.

  • it was kind of confusing how they went away to camp and when they went back home the Chinese people just suddenly took over their town or whatever. But great movie, I love the action and some of my fav Australian actrors were in it!

  • @IndigooChilld The main characters go on a camping trip into "Hell" instead of going to the local show. Their country town, Wirrawee, is meant to be valuable to the enemy (can't quite remember, but I think it's valuable because of the nearby port or something). The enemy seizes the small town when most of the locals are at the show.

Hope that makes it a bit less confusing for you.

  • @squirttle92 oh, i understand a bit now. Thanks for that

  • Good Book and Good movie. Worth to read And watch!

  • finally a film where the asian guy gets the white girl

  • finally the asian guy getting the white girl

  • :OO ZOMG!! ITS Lincoln lewis from home & away! :D

  • i always get chills when homer starts screaming..

  • red dawn?

  • Tomorrow When The School Began

  • i like the way the trailor didnt show all the fuckin movie like every other trailor

  • What a great movie!

  • the movie was alright but seriously, how stupid does Australia have to be to not notice a fleet of ships until they are right outside their door steps. ive never read the novel but if there was any form of offensive intention towards Australia by other nations, i think the gorvenmetns would have known it. most countries are monitored by satellights(most are american) 24/7. so if a gather of this amount of force was to happened, it would have been long known and the governments would take action

  • Today this movie is just a movie, tumorrow it is reality

  • I am so asking my mummy if I can watch this 😁

  • I think this movie is amazing! Love Phoebe Tonkin, she is especially fantastic in the new series The Secret Circle. I will definitely see part 2 in the theaters :D It's a shame that the movie did bad in The Netherlands... probably because of the bad promotion.. :(

  • This movie is the best!!! one of my favs! :)

  • i want to see this cuz of phoebe tonkin

  • I read this book as a kid! Hell yeah!

  • mouvie is for the age of like 5 to 13 or 14 years audience..for me it looked like parody..

  • @supernover8781 Agreed. Did you read the books?

  • I have been waiting for this movie since fucking 1999! Hell yeah!

  • how do you even pronounce wirrawee? is it like 'where are we'?

  • @kramit1967

Um this movie is based in the book Tomorrow when the war began by John Marsden.

It has nothing to do with Red Dawn whatsoever.

    Kthx.

  • @Xxhorses4evax

Yet it resembles Red Dawn in almost every way. The only people saying it's not the same as Red Dawn are people who've never seen the movie......Red Dawn. In fact they probably weren't even born when the movie came out, so how would they even know?

  • who is even attacking australia?

not even wikipedia mentiones a nation

  • @Panzerfan93 The book never states the nationality of the attacking country, either. I think this is to aviod alienating or offending the said country.

  • @Panzerfan93 It is an asian nation so almost certainlyChina/ North Korea. They are refered o as the coalition in the movie so it coould be both.

  • @11Cheesewaffles Vietnam too?

  • This movie is from a fucking book.

  • im reading the book.

    i want to see this.

  • I f* LOVED this movie!!!!

  • This is a red dawn rip off,and not a very good one.

  • This movie was a thrill for me. Just one problem, it ended :/ Fuck all you U.S film dick huggers. Australia and New Zealand make great films. I mean, Nania was filmed in NZ and so was Lord of the rings and King kong. I could have 2 lists of the shitty films the U.S produce.

  • @supernover8781 Couldn't agree with you more, Australian and New Zealand movie's are so underrated, they deserve a lot more credit than what they are given.

  • @supernover8781 uhm most foreign films are AMAZING, foreign films arent just a copy of older movies they make great stories and acting. its quite amazing.

  • @supernover8781 Narnia, Lord of the Rings, and King Kong were all filmed in NZ but they're all US produced films and considered American movies

  • shittest fucking movie ever to be made, yeah whole army invades a country okay... and couple teenagers save the day okay..... get fucked wankers

  • it was a great movie the only thing for me i mean the only thing is who were they over run by? Thats it but it was awesome

  • @SteelJohnny1 On all of the attacking soldiers helmets had red stars on them also they were all had Asian backgrounds. It could be either North Korea or China, maybe even Vietnam. The movie didn't actually say who they where up against otherwise this movie would have too much controversy and discrimination.

  • Who is the enemy?.

    A. China

    B. Japan (self-defense force that is capable of annihilating south-east asia and OZ/NZ.

    C. Indonesia (this country doesn't trust OZ and thinks OZ likes to see Indonesia being "balkanize")

  • @Billabongs122988 i think its japan from watching the film a while ago

  • @Billabongs1229881. The Japanese lost WW2. Which means they cannot build Long course ballistic missiles and more advanced weaponry. Also Japan has no need to take out SEA.

    2. Indonesia's army can be fought off by the Australian's. With Australians weapons and Air force plus navy. Indonesia's army is out classed in every way.

    3. China is the only country with an economic strength to afford an attack on AUS also China has plenty of man power and is in dire need of Australian resources and land.

  • @Billabongs122988 Indonesia would be decimated by us, despite the troop numbers difference!! and hell they couldn't get off their islands anyway, we could! Japan never would, we have such close ties, economically & militarily with them! China wouldn't because they know the US would come straight in and kill them!

  • hmm this won't happen

  • Stuart did a great job at director and the cast were fantastic and hope there will be a sequel or two and hope all the cast have a bright future in this business

  • shitty movie.

  • no suprise we got invaded; energy rich resources, small army (only 59 tanks!) but incredibly strong! and yet we have this big struggle and america doesn't intervene....why?

  • @j0noStrIk3r A reason that Australia can have a small military is because if anyone dared attack it, The British, Americans, Canadians and Kiwis, would go apeshit. (New Zealand intervenes in the books)

  • @11Cheesewaffles in the books, they were set more than 15 years ago, fyi :D today, even indonesia could invade and occupy New Zealand. this is in terms of modern day, so count on New Zealand straight away! Our closest and most reliable allies are the Americans, British & Japanese, maybe South Koreans!

  • @j0noStrIk3r I wouldn't say reliable, These day's way to much politics and back room deal's.. Wouldn't put it past some wankers to sell out an 'ally' for there own gain. Then again seeing how close our tie's are with the yank's and many other countries, And there armed forces, Wouldn't be surprised to see some troop's going AWOL to go fight the good fight.

  • @11Cheesewaffles Australia only need's a small military cause realistically in real life no one can invade Australia successfully, We are to far away and are far to large for an invasion, Even by any one of the world's super power's to be successful.

And us Aussie's can all way's count on the Kiwi's, As they can always count on us, We are both brother's till the end. We would rather die together then stand apart.

  • Red Dawn

  • I was just counter arguing what people were saying.....I wasn't intending on writing an essay about firearms, my message was brief and to the point

  • Now that they've put the bug in their ears...

  • Great movie! One of the few good ones I've seen in a while. Going to order the books.

  • worst movie ever

  • WOLVERINES.. no wait KANGAROOS

  • Loved this film! Loved the books too! <3

  • I am live int he states and I watched this and thought it was a great movie with good young actors. I've seen much worse movies made in the US. So everyone who say its a rip off or a concept that has already been done. That could go for vast majority of films in hollywood!!!!

  • fuck off with all the red dawn comparisons.. the film is essentially a concept, you could argue that every shitty zombi movie ever made are huge rip offs of each other!! not to mention all the Americans ranting on about the teens handling the guns with ease if you read the book you will notice they are all farm kids and have been brought up around fire arms..Also they use AK47'S which are famously known for being easy to handle

  • @bdom1000 You're right, almost about everything: ak47s are easy to fire, not to handle ;)

  • @bdom1000 Most light firearms are easy to operate.

  • @bdom1000 watafak... there is NOOOO AK47S

  • @bdom1000

And Red Dawn had farms kids in the midwest brought up on hunting rifles. It's the same damn movie, just 25 years later. Can't tell by the trailer but if it has Russians attacking then it's fucking RED DAWWWWWNNN!!!

  • I thought it was a fantastic movie! really enjoyed it =] ,worth a watch

  • fucking bad ass movie i loved it

  • this movie was hugely dissapointing. Very poorly made. Felt like a Michael Bay film with impressive visuals and awful, cliche script

  • what is the name of the song start at 1:01 min? please tell me!

  • I take it the aussies never saw red dawn because they have nicked it and red dawn is being remade

  • favorite movie.

  • i saw this yesterday, and i know the film essentially asks the audience "what would you do in this situation, how would u handle it?" i think i took it a bit further, i started to imagine how i would handle the situation if i was iron man or batman. Has anyone else done this? or it just me...

it is rather nerdy of me thinking that, but it was fucking badass to imagine :P

  • i have this..

    bloody awesome movie.

  • This should never have been a movie, it would have been EPIC as a tv-show. At the end where they deside to go kick some real ass, the movie ends. Two of the girls are just tooo hot for thr role. And the drug dude should never have been in the movie, he plays no part in it at all. And soliders invading a country do happely fire at a tank truck, they dont let them drive away. And finaly, if that bridge where that importent........comon...........they would have guarded it much bether. Epic fail!

  • @LaShagma75 The invading soldiers who would "happily fire at a tanker" might think twice about it, considering on both occasions they were standing right next to it... it IS full of fuel ;)

  • @VFS112 But they got away, so at one point the tanker is not that near. And its not a small target. So would they realy miss it? Its a bad directed movie. It would have been awsome as a tv show. There is too much happening in the book for one movie. (Sorry about my bad writing)

  • @LaShagma75 Of curse they would miss it. Rule #1 of films: the bad guys can never aim a weapon properly ;) hehe

  • film was pretty amazinggg!!!! I loveeee Phoebe Tonkin and Ciatlin Statsey <33333

  • what is the name of the song at the beginning?

  • @LolliPopPop96 temper trap fader

  • just watched this movie yest ... crappest movie ever !!! !even operation kingfish can beat the shit out of tis

  • @BBradshawProductions And in Red Dawn, the American high school kids had the benefit of familiarity with firearms thanks to the 2nd Amendment, whereas in Oz, firearms are not as prevalent [I think], so you're right that it's highly unlikely that a small group of teens could pull of a resistance movement. DVDs are out now... Otherwise, from what i see of the trailer, it's not too bad a movie. From the AKs and humvees, looks like China are the invaders to me.

  • @croatian47 It's hard to say... Yes, it's a more global society & economy now, but borders are still more difficult to remove. Look at the Euro, it's a good idea to build a unified economy but see how it's dying now? Too many cultures w/ different ideas of how money shld be spent, selfish agendas, etc. Look at the UN... Lots of ideals & hype, but lots of corruption & abuse of power too. Only way you're going to have a united world govt is either an external global threat or a unifying dictator.

  • omg omg omg. I loved the books. Can't wait until this movie comes to Swedish theaters!

  • don't let that asian dude touch that white chick ffs

  • will they make movies out of rest of the books ?

  • australia is a so quiet-peaceful-and-no-one-interested-with country...so the writer or whoever that is started their funny imagination...

  • I dont get it what kind of idiots likes this shity movie. Its a total waste of money and time . The Acting in this movie is pure shit , This is bad publicity for Paramount . Why didnt they just named it Red dawn II they both crap anyway .

  • Yet another Pew Pew Bom Bom movie....

  • I love the movie and the books

  • thay didnt need to fight thay should of just waited for the british come and help them

  • i am reading the book for one of my classes and in the book it made the characters sound like black ppl but this is how i pictured the charcters like this(not to be rasist.)

  • this is an awesome movie hahaha my cousins live near where they were filming!!!

  • I don't really care for the movie. I will only watch it for Phoebe Tonkin!

  • I love how Americans are complaining this is a rip-off of Red Dawn (even though they're made from books), while America just copies and remakes every single successful foreign movie (and make them worse). Hypocrites.

  • @elysiumx2 that is the funniest thing and truest thing ever written. I'm still mad about Dinner for Schmucks!

  • @elysiumx2

    *American*

XDDD Dude, you are so right.

  • @elysiumx2 yea they are making a remake roght now :)

  • @elysiumx2 haha thats such a good point

  • @elysiumx2 yeah thats why every little bitch in the world watches our movies and makes praises it you fags can only wish that you had our technology and vision so go fuck ur self

  • @fazawood81 We only watch those movies because 95% of the movies are from Hollywood and are just forced upon us. Foreign movies aren't distributed everywhere. America does have the technology and vision. Now go make good and original movies with it.

  • @elysiumx2 lmao we do go see lord of the rings and basically any top movie just google it and look for ur self

  • @fazawood81 Dude, did you even read my comment? We are seeing those movies because they are basically the only ones we can watch. (I'm not saying LotR wasn't good) My point is that (a lot of) Americans need to get their heads out of the ground and notice there is a lot more out there than your crappy remakes. (like EVERY japanese horror movie)

  • @elysiumx2 noooooooooooo your saying the grudge was a crappy remake man it was better then the orginal

  • @fazawood81 Well, imo, it really wasn't. But oh well, it's quite obvious that Americans will always support their version. Whatever.

  • @elysiumx2 nooooooooooooooooooooooooooo im saying it from a neutral perspective i seen both of them and i can tell i knw its hard for u foreigner to accept but its ok, why cnt we all be friends

  • @fazawood81 Hahahaha if you're saying something is crappy, then it's not a neutral perspective, unless you're a professional film critic. And I'd say as someone who isn't American/Australian/Japanese it's perfectly clear! I also just want to make it clear that while America has lots of remakes, Australia has a lot less, and this isn't even one of them. It's NOT a rip-off. And I don't even find it that bad.

  • @fazawood81 Lord of the Rings was made in New Zealand... just so you know...

  • @elysiumx2 what foriegn movie did "americans" copy and make remakes of ?

    just wondering.

  • @dsjj251 So many I can't name them. Of course not all of them are that bad, you know. The Ring, Grudge, Pulse, Godzilla, Taxi, Let me in, death a funeral, dark water, the uninvited, one missed call, the office, skins, the eye, quarantine (rec), vanilla sky, funny games, the girl with the dragon tattoo....

  • @elysiumx2 yes, I see what you are saying, but that isnt the same as what you tried to say in your comment

the things you posted are simply american versions of a foreign entity, where as this looks like some one slapping a new name on Red Dawn and trying to act like its brand new.

also " I love how Americans are complaining this is a rip-off of Red Dawn (even though they're made from books) "

the Red Dawn movie came out 7 years before the Tomorrow, When the War Began book

  • @dsjj251 "The Young Guard" (1949): Nazi's occupy Russia. Teenagers rebel. "Hornets' Nest" (1970): Germans invade Italy. Teenagers rebel. Red Dawn (1984). What did you say about "slapping a new name on it" and "trying to act like its brand new"? Do you know how long invasion literature has existed? Clearly it has its similarities, but one who saw the movie and one who read the books know it's different. PLEASE don't be so ignorant to think because the main plot is the same the movie is a rip-off!

  • @elysiumx2 first off, both the films you just named are films based on reality about actual events that follow a fictional story line.

Red Dawn and Tomorrow are not the same type of film/books as they follow completely fictional events.

second, I never said i thought it was a rip off, and said is it LOOKS like as in " its the reason people are saying that "

and even if i did say it, it still wouldnt make me ignorant as there is enough similarities to make the claim.

  • @dsjj251 Red Dawn hardly starts realistically though. No country in their right mind would start an attack on US soil with a bunch of paratroopers at a high school.

  • @VFS112 its a mass invasion, the reason they show the high school is to set up the storyline, its a much bigger invasion than just what you see on screen.

  • @dsjj251 Fair enough

  • @elysiumx2 though the poeple here critecize know its the direcot whos aware of his knowledge these poeple are ignorant(uninformed) of this information though no offense on anyones part

  • @elysiumx2

I guess what bounces off us sticks to you hmm?

    Hypocrite.

  • WOLVERI... I mean uh, KANGAROO'S!

  • the book is better i think

(sorry for my bad english im from holland)

  • @yorbenmac99 you shouldn't really say that because almost everyone's english is crap on youtube. nobody cares.

  • @ematj

    *(E)nglish.

  • @codownni hahaha yeah whatever also *You and *Nobody cares!

  • I dont even wanna watch the trailer right now. I'm just gonna watch the movie. You know you're a patriot when you cry in this movie.

  • I loed the book, I can't wait to see the movie!! <3

  • So a Red Dawn rip off, except it is not the Russians, but the Chinese invading Australia.

And somehow a bunch of preppie teens with no military training can beat trained troops with superior weapons?

It's almost 2012 and I see no dvd for this, so I am guessing it was a flop.

  • @BBradshawProductions you fail. its based on books, not red dawn. its not the chinese (we dont know who it is actually) and the teens dont win, at least not by themselves. and no its not a flop. in fact they are making more

  • @054martinm Correct on pretty much everything, but it's quite a safe assumption that the Chinese were represented in this film. It mentions a "Coalition" (maybe North Korea or something? Just by the star symbols :P)

Apart from the soldiers being from an obviously Asian origin, their fighter aircraft are Dassault Mirages (used in the Chinese Air Force).

And before anyone starts with the "they chose a random aircraft" argument, they researched well enough to know the Australian fighters correctly.

  • @BBradshawProductions If you read the books then you'd know that these kids are all farm kids so they've been brought up around guns, they know how to handle them. And again if you read the books you'd know that alot that they get away with is purely from them being lucky and the fact that they dont have anyone to report to, they can do what ever they want.

It was a good movie, and a successful one in terms of Australian Cinema which generally doesnt have all that many successes

  • Anybody here also get the "Red Dawn"(1984) feel w/ this one. Haha...

  • one of the worse movie i had ever watched
