I'm loving these videos, but the whole "games come from Japan" thing irks me. Gaming as it is today originated in Japan, and Japanese games still have an important presence in Western gaming. However, there are lots and lots of major Western developers now as well; personally, I play more Western games than Japanese ones. Western games are influenced by Japanese games, but only in gameplay mechanics and such. Anything cultural in Western games (like racism) obviously has no Japanese influence.

Didn't the game actually turn out to be what everyone was scared of it being? I haven't played it and what I've heard about it has been kind of scattered.
I've spoken about something like this with my friends, I mentioned how kids are meant to be "the future" but many parents end up teaching their kids not to befriend, for example, African (happens a lot here in Malaysia, and I'm African). The kindergarten in my school has African (or foreign) kids seperated (supposedly for language difference, but many have heard that parents asked for it as well). (I also mentioned news and it's way of breeding hatred on two "opposing" sides...)
Ok so let's establish something no one else has noticed. In an earlier video he was against the "Valley of the Wolves" which negatively portrays American white people in the military. Hypocrite much?
The problem is not that they're black but that they're ALL black, hideous, acting like animals and are being gunned down by a federal (looking) agent who is Buff, healthy, handsome, intelligent and WHITE. Capcom could have counteracted that by just showing normal civilians running from the hoard and allowing us to interact with more black characters than just Sheva and Jacob(?) or Maybe making one of the big bad guys black, because it does end up looking like racial cleansing.
While you're mostly right about the Jews, there are legitimate complaints to be made about Asians. The Japanese, for example, are some of those xenophobic and racist people around. There are STILL places in Tokyo which have "No gaijin" signs outside. Also, the fate of the Final Fantasy series post-FF6 is their fault. They should do something about it.

My opinion is that the English language should be treated with more respect and people should learn to talk. It's not much to ask really. Eliot was my best character in DOA4, err to be fair I was almost as good with Gen Fu and kokoro. But yeah he was my best lol. Sorry, I wish he looked cooler or was a hot chick, but damn he was just a good character. His move set was a little small but he could close a gap, albeit in a predictable manner. Had lots of fast attacks, and enough top down combos to keep your opponent guessing. Nothing approaching brad wong though.

What kinda annoyed me about RE5 wasnt the fact the infected victims happened to be black africans [there are white and brown, black is just the majority] its the fact that Capcom went out of its way to tell the media not to mention things like the tribal costume for Sheva or the bloodlustful Natives. If they had just come out and said: "Look its in Africa, and the events of RE5 play out as if it were to affect the population living there like it did in RE4, and that includes the local natives."

Great vid. Reminds me of the Southpark episode "The F Word", where the kids use the word "fag" as something other than a homosexual male. That's the natural evolution of those types of situations. Honestly, though, when I was little I thought Mister Popo was awesome. Think about it. He does a much better job of portraying black people as a positive force than, say, 50 Cent, or any other rapper. Mister Popo wanted to help save the world while having wacky hijinks. Mainstream, or the vast majority of rappers, want to shoot cops and then support prostitution rings that abuse women. Yeah, I'm stickin' with Popo.

to me it has always been just as racist to identify this as an issue. Meaning that if you look at something that isn't really racist like RE5 and jump up and down and call it racist, you're the racist one yourself, you're the one putting a race, whether its yours or someone elses in a box and saying "this group of people aren't allowed to have this happen to them because they're different". I think the problem is that we are too quick to point at things that involve race as "racist" whereas the things that are racist are too sly to be seen.
Take for example, rappist. From a early age in school on you're pretty much taught to avoid strangers (unknowingly to you to rape or kidnpa you). Yet strangely enough, 95% of rape, theivary, or kidnapping victims are victimized by people they know.

All the african countries I've traveled only have a moderate amount of whites in the major cities. In the rural areas the only whites I've seen are in an occasional doctors without borders post.
Admittedly I haven't seen all of africa but I'd say you're grossly overgeneralizing about an entire continent.

the accusations of racism made capcom change the game drastically even though they said it would not effect them,but it did the game is very different from the early trailers in a bad way, the co-op doesn't work well with the game because it wasn't meant to be a broke ation co-op with shitty AI. there are so many more horribly offensively racist games like Border Patrol, Ethnic Cleansing and anything else made by resistance, why not them? probably cause there not famous enough ?

I enjoy that no one brings up the RE5 context of the "racist" African tribal village chapter. everyone regards that part as where the game turned racist but in actuality it is explained quite thoroughly through a diary that is easily obtained in the same level that details the reasons for the village acting that way (in a nutshell the the evil cooperation infected their population causing the villagers to become more aggressive and see all outsiders as a treat and or prey. just clarification.

RE5 was never racist. It involves a man (wgaf if he's white?) trying to protect himself from people that are trying to KILL him (if you try to protect yourself from a man of a different race, is that racist?) While simply trying to extermibate a virus that has no problem possessing non-blacks.

Eliot was my best character in DOA4, err to be fair I was almost as good with Gen Fu and kokoro. But yeah he was my best lol. Sorry, I wish he looked cooler or was a hot chick, but damn he was just a good character. His move set was a little small but he could close a gap, albeit in a predictable manner. Had lots of fast attacks, and enough top down combos to keep your opponent guessing. Nothing approaching brad wong though.
