I'm now looking at a Valero and putting a brand new Merc 200XS ROS on it. This is the hull that was identicle to the VKings only the bow was flat on top and the interior was larger. Performance is the same. Some ppl say the Valero is faster but I'd have to see it to believe it. The world record btw in a VKing is 108 mph. These are the Ferrari F40's of speed boats in my opinion and only someone who has owned one can appreciate them and Howard Pipkorn.

I had a 79 VKing back in 82 with a 235 Evanrude clock by Florida Highway Patrol MPH gun 86 mph on 3 runs. I was turning a 28" chopper prop 5700 rpm on a trim jack and bobs machine shop nosecone. My buddy runs a VKing with a mod vp 2.5 FHP clocked 102 mph. You can get 100 too just need to set it up right. He had his 28" chopper prop double cupped and one inch of pitch added by Frank and Jimmys Pro Shop in Ft Lauderdale. He can spin his 6200 rpm.

my dad had an ol hydro stream that ran 102 top.....had that thing runnin nice...sold it and some idiot put an offshore powerhead on it and screwed it all up...top speed went from 102 to like 88 ...gotta love those hydro streams...best boats ever in my book

yup.there the little trim tabs on the btoom of the transom<<might have spelt it wrong.they stablize the boat at high speeds.

every one says they have owned this boat, and we get different storys on how fast it would run , some say over 100 with 2.5 merc, and some say not over 60 mph, we are in the middle 65 to 75 and we are still trying to improve it , hopeing to at least get into the 80`s. our vipers are already running in the 80`s . do you have any suggestions or storys about the old bully boat ? also are you one of the macclenny people that has owned it?
