This was brilliant. I recently wrote a paper on this very subject. The name of the paper was entitled "Profanity: The Suitable Synonym". There are a lot of words that we use in causal conversation today, that years ago were prohibited. The only way that these words lost their power was by the everyday use of these words in common communication. It is the same with all words that we consider profane and inappropriate today. For example, who decided it was ok to say penis and not dick. Thank you.
