i have been fascinated with tornadoes since i was really little (probably around 5 or 6). I live in Australia though and thankfully on one part we don't have them that often. I would still love to see one for myself though
...but still please tell me no one was in that house at the time
@Ah19934 Thank you for watching. Unfortunately there were two people in the house at the time. Linda and Randy Robbins took shelter in their cement reinforced basement and thankfully were totally unharmed. Their house was rebuilt even better than before.
I've lived in Oklahoma all my life and every time I hear those tornado sirens, whether it's on t.v or outside my house, I get chills. That's just a sound you can't get used to.
@pokesfan92 I can imagine. The only time I hear them is when I'm out in Tornado Alley. I live in NYC so needless to say lol, we don't have tornado sirens here. We do get them on occasion, but not frequent enough to warrant sirens. Out on Long Island however they do have them.
@JJCC117 Yes they were! There was a couple taking shelter in the basement which thankfully was concrete reinforced and they were totally unharmed. Thanks for watching!
@krazedgunner man that must of been an experience the one tornado that hit lambert airport went right over me and my family at the movie theatre. If it us we probably would of died
I live in tuscaloosa and i was at least 200 yard away from the april 27 tornado, man foundations got ripped up so did plumbing. I saw white tree cause all the bark was stripped of them. we hid under house under steps, if it was direct hit we would of died. my mom was closer 4 houses from death. she said it was the wierdest feeling ever, she screamed for someone and couldnt hear herself cause of the sucking sound, the houses window bursted and the house breathed and expanded, the pressure was sik
@krazedgunner Oh wow, really glad to hear that you made it out all right! Your family too! Truly tragic what took place in your neck of the woods. All the best to you and your family and I hope you can get some sense of normalcy back soon.
are most tornadoes like that? everything seems to be so peaceful around it with this huge column of destruction tearing things apart? it's like there's no sound, no rain, nothing, just watching the tornado go across the horizon.
@svu3elliv All tornadoes are different, and the sound the emit, and the sound you actually hear depends on several factors. Your proximity to the tornado, wind direction, and what's being carried inside the tornado. This tornado was over an open field but we did hear it. Sounded like a big waterfall. Thanks so much for watching!
@svu3elliv It is eerily quiet until the storm cell passes over you whether theres a tornado in it or not, then its deafening. Thankfully no tornados in the storms I saw.
@troyb0509 Most storm chasers don't get paid anything. We pay for everything ourselves and then try to recoup some of the money we spend through DVD sales, etc. Some of the chasers that do get paid are on the Discovery Channel show Storm Chasers. Most of us though aren't that lucky. So it is VERY expensive needless to say. Thanks for watching!
yea a lot of the income comes from TV Specials, selling it to news channels, still time lapse photography can also be sold to newspapers, magazines, etc. My nephew is in college and over his spring break he went storm chasing through texas and has made a few grand from news papers and magazines using his shots from tornados and lightning........very exhilarating he says.....i took him skydiving and he said to be within an 1/8 of a mile from a twister takes the cake
Storm chasers are crazy. I've been in one and seen 3 and that was enough! Each time I hope it never happens again. But it's people like you guys that help us understand. It's all too scary.
@darlingdino I hope you aren't in any more tornadoes ever again. Sounds like you've had your fair share of them already! Thank you for watching my video.
@tornadovideostock The sad thing is that the ones I've seen and been in were in Ohio and PA. These people are so shocked around here when it happens because they think it only happens in the midwest or deep south. The biggest one I saw was an F2 5 miles from my house (where I used to live) last month. Doesn't this ever scare you or is it just a huge adrenaline rush? I'm obsessed.
@darlingdino Oh I definitely have a healthy dose of respect for mother nature! I never underestimate the power of nature and I take precautions when I'm out chasing. Still though, there is no way to remain absolutely safe but we do our best to stay safe. I'm completely fascinated by the weather and have been since I was 12 years old. As you know, once you see a tornado you never forget it
@draggon7799 The home was partially destroyed and had to be rebuilt. I have to say, I went back a year later and the house looked amazing! The family who lived there totally rebuilt. They were home as well when the tornado hit but took shelter in their cement reinforced basement. They were unharmed thankfully!
Your video has really done a lot of success in France, she was passing in a program and even in a film she appeared I hope you will soon have more views because you really deserve thee with great video you madeus
@90999999999999999990 Hi! And thank you so much for watching my video. That was an amazing chase day indeed! Thank you so much for the kind words. All the best to you!
@JOHNBASS117111 Ha ha yeah living in the midwest means living with and dealing with these types of storms. I'm here in NYC too! Queens to be exact. By the way, I accidentally deleted several friends requests, yours being one of them so I'm sending you one now :)
Our home was narrowly missed by the Feb. 02,2007 F3's that were the first to be rated with the new EF scale. 20 plus people died in a mobile home neighborhood about 1/2 mile from us.It then traveled about 6-7 miles into DeLand and hit my wifes workplace directly, totalling her Highlander and destroying the Dunkin' Donuts that she worked overnight at. Spring is a dangerous time weather-wise here in North-central Florida,we learned firsthand to beware of the NIGHT-TRAINS! They always come then.
@porcupineinteruptus Oh wow! So glad that you and your family were all right. But so sorry to hear about the fatalities in your area, that is horrible. And yes, night time tornadoes are the most dangerous as many people are asleep at that time, and are unaware of severe weather approaching their area. One of the main reasons that a NOAA weather radio is so important! Thanks for watching and commenting
kgirl998, I was gonna say that, but you beat me to it. Weird to see almost all tornado activity without much surrounding wind, rain, lightning and of course, HAIL. What class of tornado was that which tore up the zoomed in house? An F1 picked up a mobile home 2 lawns down from my parents' home and wrapped it completely around the electrical pole across the street. They, mother and son survived the hit. The mother, Autumn Sparling and her son were guests on Oprah and received from her a new home
@PMFshoeder Thanks for watching!! This particular tornado, the one that hit the house was rated an F2 (this occured prior to the EF scale). That's fantastic that Oprah bought another home for them after the tornado destroyed their other one.
@dragonridley Actually there were two separate tornadoes near Attica that day. The first one (rated F2) was the tornado that hit the house on the east side of Attica, then the storm cycled and produced another, stronger tornado east of the first one and that one was rated F4 as it hit one house near the town of Harper, which is east of Attica.
@MrClemensN Yes, definitely agree with you there! This is something that we never want to see happen. I'd be perfectly happy if every tornado I see from here on out is just over an open field. But unfortunately they do hit towns on occasion. Thanks for watching and for commenting!
Beautiful video guys! I really appreciate guys that will put their lives on the line to capture these works of art. I know how those guys in that house feel, I hope they're all right. My house was hit about a year ago by an F-4. Scary as hell. Came out with a busted up leg though. Our house fell inward and our cabinet fell on my leg. Talk about pain, like i said, i hope they're all right. Poor people. :(
@animalslayer1200 Thank you so much for watching! Oh wow, so your place was hit directly by an F4? Yikes!! That had to have been really scary. So sorry to hear that your leg was injured, but all things considering I guess it could have certainly been much much worse. Hope you're fully healed up now.
And yes, the couple that was inside the house at the time the tornado hit were unharmed. They took shelter in their basement and that's what saved them for sure :)
Amazing video- that must be a once in a lifetime catch (and let's hope the inhabitants of the house were safe). We never seem to get anything this interesting around Madison or Chicago, and the rare times we do I'm working or in class. I'll have to put a trip west on my to do list sometime...
@mmjurczak It certainly was...and yes, the couple that lived in that house were unharmed. They took shelter in their concrete reinforced basement and rode it out there. Don't feel bad though, lol....I live in NYC and our severe weather is nothing like it is out on the plains...Thanks for watching and commenting!
when i lived in indie we always managed to get a few tornadoes love the sound of them but freaky as hell in a double wide lol tried going out to film them but never managed to capture any and never seen a reenforced car either hahaha every1 wants one of those i bet
@fightpilot1 Oh yeah, having a re-inforced car would definitely be nice! hell, even mine isn't "re-inforced" but I do have hail guards on the glass to protect them from the large hail that we encounter from time to time. And yes, Indie gets some violent storms no doubt! Better than what we usually see here in NYC where I live :) Thanks for watching!!
we had a tornado yesterday busted up 2 houses and flooded tipton county crossed my street so close to hitting mine but moved forward i was stupid to be looking out the window
I grew up in Plymouth, Michigan (about 12 miles west of Detroit).
We didn't get as many tornadoes as Kansas, Oklahoma, or Nebraska, but we did get enough for some good stories.
I remember 8 close calls between 1965 and 1985, and the night storms were st scariest. I was 5 years old when I saw my first tornado. I've been fascinated ever since.
@bookworm1960 Glad you enjoyed the video! And yes, all it took for me was one massive storm rolling through my area back in August 1985, and I was hooked as well! There were several tornado reports in my area, and golf ball size hail too! Something we don't see too much of here in the NYC area. Sounds like you've had your fair share of severe weather as well while you were growing up. Stay safe and thanks again for watching and commenting
Since the PREVALENCE of tornados in Tornado Alley is frequent enough to cause repeated problems, bermed housing ought to be more or less standard, there, if people INTEND to live by Reason and Rationality.
@shechaiyah Yeah I hear you.Tornadoes are extremely localized and over my many years out on the plains chasing storms, I've spoken to folks who have lived there there whole lives and have never even seen one. So because of that, many people figure "ah, what are the chances". But yes, I agree that folks who live in tornado alley should have severe weather safety on the mind. I'm sure the folks who have been affected by tornadoes never thought they would be either....you never know..
I live near Kansas City, Kansas, tornadoes touch down in the county every year. They always seem to hit the same spot though, going between leavenworth and kansas city. They get a lot across teh river in platte on the missouri side.
@Cubensis2009 Kansas is definitely overall a hotbed of tornadic activity. I'll be heading out to the plains again in a few weeks in search of storms once again. Stay safe this season and thanks for watching and commenting!
If I were going to live in Kansas, I would live in a bermed structure designed to ride out storms like this. Conventional housing construction is insane in this area.
@shechaiyah It's tough to build a structure to withstand these types of forces, but what is more crucial is having a safe place to go to when one strikes. A concrete reinforced basement (which this house did have, and that's where the couple in the house took shelter. Thankfully they were unharmed) or an underground storm shelter. Thanks for watching and commenting!
@CashfloKustoms LOL...yes that is a strange looking thing. That's the TIV (Tornado Intercept Vehicle). It's showcased on the Discovery Channel show "Storm Chasers".
Nice video... ill be glad when winter is over and we get into mid/late april... hopefully this may turns out alittle better than last year haha i was so frustated when i took my vacation and everything died. the day i had to go back to work was the first time i chased anything during my entire vacation lol
Me as well! I'm pretty tired of the cold already, lol. And yes, last May was very dismal, hopefully this year will be different. All though all these cold outbreaks in the south have me a bit concerned about the Gulf cooling down too much. If she does, it'll be tough to warm the waters back up in time for April. Hopefully we can snap out of this pattern soon!
it has been a weird winter, I think the south has had more snow than we have here in sw mo. We have had more snow this winter than normally but tx seems to be getting hit left and right with it. southern tx at that. :S
Glad you enjoyed the video! It really was the perfect ending to a long chase day. Nothing is better than sitting back, relaxing and enjoying an incredible lightning display.
lol....nope, definitely not like the movie "Twister". But I will agree with you, it is an entertaining movie. In reality there's a LOT more driving and more times than not, little or no rewards at the end of the day. But, I love it regardless and will always be out there chasing. Thanks for watching the video! I'll be posting a lot more chase videos so if you want to, subscribe and you can stay up to date :) Regardless though, thanks again and all the best
Very nice compilation! Those tornados at around the 4th and 5th minutes are changing very fast. As the velocity of whirlwinds rises, the pressure drops, the funnel coming from the cloud raises and the moisture condenses doesn't it?
Yes, as the tornado gets stronger, it picks up more and more dust and debris off the ground, and that along with the condensation creates the funnel itself.
Great video. I had a 4 tornado day on May 24 2008 around the Hennessey and Orlando Ok area. It was my third chase day and I got on a cyclical storm. Got 2 of them on video, but the other 2 I missed out on filming because one fizzled out as I was pulling over and the other got rainwrapped to the point my camcorder couldn't pick it up. I'm just trying to be patient right now as I wait on the 2010 season. Winter sure seems extra long since I started storm chasing.
Chasing storms is one great adventure. The traveling, the small towns, the people, and of course...the storms! it's all great :) Glad you enjoyed the video!
Ah that is the early version of what is now called the TIV. Tornado Intercept Vehicle. That thing is featured on that show "Storm Chasers" on Discovery Channel.
That shot of the house is unbelievable!!! We were in front of it and it started to rain insulation on us... We never saw the house go up though... Great Video!
Thank you so much Nathan :) I'm glad you enjoy my videos! I'll be posting more in the coming weeks too. Looking forward to seeing you out there as well one of these days!!
The Attica day certainly stands out as one of my most memorable ones
I have seen this video all over the place! Just about on every weather related TV program!
This is awesome!!! My favorite of the videos that I have seen from you! But I will not take nothing away from your other captures because they are great too!
I love your work very much, and I don't mind saying it, I look up to you with all that you do capturing amazing footage and how you chase these storms out in the midwest! Thanks for that!
Thanks for your comments VeganaExPuta! And yes, most chasers will do their best to help when they witness a home or business getting struck. My chase partner Dave and I have radioed in many storm reports over the years, and most chasers do the same. We are also trained Skywarn Storm Spotters as well and by calling in reports of severe weather, it helps get the word out to the public.

@roland4123 WOW! Glad you are all right. Yes, the past few days have been very bad regarding severe weather. Thanks for watching and commenting

Great Video, Thanks.
I've been fascinated ever since.
bookworm1960 1 year ago
@bookworm1960 Glad you enjoyed the video! And yes, all it took for me was one massive storm rolling through my area back in August 1985, and I was hooked as well! There were several tornado reports in my area, and golf ball size hail too! Something we don't see too much of here in the NYC area. Sounds like you've had your fair share of severe weather as well while you were growing up. Stay safe and thanks again for watching and commenting

Since the PREVALENCE of tornados in Tornado Alley is frequent enough to cause repeated problems, bermed housing ought to be more or less standard, there, if people INTEND to live by Reason and Rationality.
shechaiyah 1 year ago
@shechaiyah Yeah I hear you.Tornadoes are extremely localized and over my many years out on the plains chasing storms, I've spoken to folks who have lived there there whole lives and have never even seen one. So because of that, many people figure "ah, what are the chances". But yes, I agree that folks who live in tornado alley should have severe weather safety on the mind. I'm sure the folks who have been affected by tornadoes never thought they would be either....you never know..

@tornadovideostock
I live near Kansas City, Kansas, tornadoes touch down in the county every year. They always seem to hit the same spot though, going between leavenworth and kansas city. They get a lot across teh river in platte on the missouri side.
Cubensis2009 1 year ago
@Cubensis2009 Kansas is definitely overall a hotbed of tornadic activity. I'll be heading out to the plains again in a few weeks in search of storms once again. Stay safe this season and thanks for watching and commenting!
tornadovideostock 1 year ago
If I were going to live in Kansas, I would live in a bermed structure designed to ride out storms like this. Conventional housing construction is insane in this area.
shechaiyah 1 year ago
@shechaiyah It's tough to build a structure to withstand these types of forces, but what is more crucial is having a safe place to go to when one strikes. A concrete reinforced basement (which this house did have, and that's where the couple in the house took shelter. Thankfully they were unharmed) or an underground storm shelter. Thanks for watching and commenting!

CashfloKustoms 2 years ago
@CashfloKustoms LOL...yes that is a strange looking thing. That's the TIV (Tornado Intercept Vehicle). It's showcased on the Discovery Channel show "Storm Chasers".
tornadovideostock 2 years ago
Jesus! I saw this on television a few months ago. this is a part of tornadoes I just can't get used to...
TornadoChaser612 2 years ago
Agreed. The best tornadoes are the ones that stay out over open country.

Nice video... ill be glad when winter is over and we get into mid/late april... hopefully this may turns out alittle better than last year haha i was so frustated when i took my vacation and everything died. the day i had to go back to work was the first time i chased anything during my entire vacation lol
drft4life 2 years ago
Me as well! I'm pretty tired of the cold already, lol. And yes, last May was very dismal, hopefully this year will be different. All though all these cold outbreaks in the south have me a bit concerned about the Gulf cooling down too much. If she does, it'll be tough to warm the waters back up in time for April. Hopefully we can snap out of this pattern soon!
tornadovideostock 2 years ago
it has been a weird winter, I think the south has had more snow than we have here in sw mo. We have had more snow this winter than normally but tx seems to be getting hit left and right with it. southern tx at that. :S
drft4life 2 years ago
And it's looking like they'll be more on the way too. I'm starting to hear rumblings of more southern snows!

Wow, great video! I loved the ending there, with all the lightning!
LightningFever86 2 years ago
Glad you enjoyed the video! It really was the perfect ending to a long chase day. Nothing is better than sitting back, relaxing and enjoying an incredible lightning display.
tornadovideostock 2 years ago
is it anything like the movie "twister"? hahah im just super obsessed with that movie
mstrawther 2 years ago
lol....nope, definitely not like the movie "Twister".

As the velocity of whirlwinds rises, the pressure drops, the funnel coming from the cloud raises and the moisture condenses doesn't it?
csengeri 2 years ago

Torn80cj 2 years ago
You got that right! lol, when you start chasing the winters do seem especially long. Glad you enjoyed the vid!

I love your work very much, and I don't mind saying it, I look up to you with all that you do capturing amazing footage and how you chase these storms out in the midwest! Thanks for that!

great video, that second storm looked crazy ! what a day it must have been
Jamiesyme999 2 years ago
Thanks for your comments VeganaExPuta! And yes, most chasers will do their best to help when they witness a home or business getting struck. My chase partner Dave and I have radioed in many storm reports over the years, and most chasers do the same. We are also trained Skywarn Storm Spotters as well and by calling in reports of severe weather, it helps get the word out to the public.
tornadovideostock 2 years ago
Terrifying as all hell, and yet captivating. Thank you for the risks you took to capture all this for the rest of us to see.
And thank you for going back to that house that "came apart" to make sure the people were safe.
As this video begins circulating, you're bound to get tons and tons of really great compliments, all deserved.
