I had to read this book for English1.this is all i've seen of the movie, and this one part seems to make it much more appealing.well,im in 8th grade0a book like that is hard to understand for me
I was never a fan of Richard Harris until I saw this film. Both he and James Earl Jones were *outstanding*.I've had an interest in South Africa since one of my teachers (a Catholic nun) would talk about it in class during the 60's.I visited SA a couple of times during apartied so I feel that I know a *little* something about how things were.Great, great film.
I saw clips of the movie and begged my mom to go out and get it. We watched it together and at the end we both sat on the couch sobbing. Incredible work.
You really have to read the book; the film does not do it justice. Alan Paton was a prophet as far as S. Africa is concerned, and his vision has implications for the United States.
And today in 2009 in South Africa we are STILL crying. There is still such a long way to go before Paton's vision is realised. I wish only that our leaders and people would remember the messages in this book.
Does anyone know what the song at the start of this movie is called? I would really like to know the title, it seems to be the "theme" for the movie? Thanks.
This film is a model adaptation of a great novel. I am a huge fan of the book, and I must say that this is one of those rare films which truly does justice to its literary source. This is a magnificent, moving, inspiring work of art. I hope everyone gets a chance to see it.
I know there is only about 3 seconds of the ending song, but could please someone help im trying to find out who plays it, as it is such a beautiful song
Would the poster of this movie, by any chance, be interested in being wooed to post the rest of this movie, or at least the key scenes? I hope you would understand that many people are in need of it. Truly it is such a wonderful movie; the book is absolutely fantastic as well, of more than stellar quality. Many thanks, my friend, we count on you for being understanding, and are very thankful for your kind deed of simply posting this ending scene. :)
If u love this movie and the book by Alan Paton, 1948...watch and read Cry Freedom, Biko by Donald Woods. It's a true story and so educational, inspiring and sad.
Most beautifully written book I've had the privilege of reading.

I finally read the book and then saw this movie. Both were equally awesome. They are excellent. I am not worthy to say more....

Is it me or it reminds me to "Dances with the wolves" soundtrack? I know, same composer, same style... Same wonderful music. RIP, John Barry.

The scene where his son was taken to be hanged, that didn't happen in the book, just the part where he goes to the mountain to pray, but that's it.

What is the song at the end of the movie? It's the first song in the credits, if anyone remembers. I'd REALLY appreciate it, thanks.
