Shaw has been much renovated and gentrified. There used to be 4 entirely empty blocks just north of the Mass. Ave. (empty) Library. Those lots were empty all through the 70s and 80s. Remember the shooting gallery at 11th and N? --And the nonstop sales of bam and D at 11th & O?

here's my concern of stuff like this....crime doesn't disappear. it just moves. these folks in this video will in no more than 10 years be forced from their homes because they will no longer be able to afford to live in Shaw, or Cardozo, or Mount Pleasant, or Columbia Heights, or much of Northwest. they are moving east to Anacostia and Prince Georges County...not cool.
