Well you can't blame him too much, It wasn't what Datsyuk planned to do, he just wacked at it and happened to connect. Niemi went down for the save and didn't figure he would back up (Which is illegal btw, but what ever.). He figured he would shoot it the first time and it rolled up his sticks. Goalies expect it to come clean off the stick and it didn't. It appered weak, but understandable.

Every NHL goalie has it in the back of their mind obviously when he goes in for a shoot out. So in fairness to the kid it's a lot tougher for him to try it. No goalie expects this from anyone other than Omark so it's not surprising Pavel scored. Personally I think you need to give credit where credit is do instead of bashing the kid.

If you watch carefully, Datsyuk is setting up for his signature dangle breakway; THAT'S the genius of this move. The goalie is TOTALLY compensating to his left. Remember also that moves glorified in replays are rarely created by the one that made it famous. As an example, it was frequently known in practices that Gretzky could do the 'behind-the-net lacrosse move' but never did it in a game because he would have been crushed in old time hockey.

The Datsyuk goal was sick. Only a handful of NHL players are capable of scoring a goal like that, and it really demonstrates the skill of a player like Datsyuk.

As a Canuck fan though, I've seen the spin-o-rama done by a half dozen players including Ryan Shannon and Mason Raymond.

To be honest, I'd rather they eliminated the spin-o-rama as it's borderline the puck maintains a continuous motion as well as the interference that often occurs with goaltenders.
