  • perhaps a simplified explanation is needed. this is your eye without a brain to flip it over.

  • Commercials on Youtube SUCK !!!!!!

  • This used to happen to one of our rooms when the sun was at a certain height and the blinds partly open - rather a shock the first time I saw it.

Thanks to earlier commenter re. science in the ancient Muslim world. That beautiful architecture didn't happen without scientific foundations.

  • @kitabwalli Maybe that is how it was originally discovered, it makes sense to me

  • Vermeer used this to paint his paintings ^__~

  • 30 sec exposure and 4000 ISO is what you need to see it like that, I don't think the human eye will be able to see that .....................

  • Lets put some Duck Tape on the Gas Prices! :P

  • what did i just watch

  • Kinda like pinhole photography :)

  • @ixivietqtixi this is pinhole phtotgraphy, ecxcept super sized ;D

  • does this work at night?

  • Fake!

  • @kgaboyz no its real. i did this in school when i was a kid.. we were being taught about photography and how when they were first trying to figure out how to capture an image onto film they realised the image was always coming out upside down. its something math related that i don't remember but it does work.. : )

  • propably someone said that before but with this camera settings, I doubt u can see anything there, and if u can see its not so clear and sharp view as here, so video kinda lie about how it looks like.

  • @myguyred123 i know... idk what i was thinking of... Maybe ducks? xP

  • Good way to spy on your neighbours...

  • Cool, but f 2.8, iso 4k and 30sec.

Do you even see that irl? :)

  • i learned this in photo class :D

  • "How to create an awesome room to get high in" by National Geographic. For more info on how to create this weed-smoking paradise, join National Geographic today for only $19.99...

  • I demand a better explanation!

  • i don't get it at all...:o wtf

  • Fake until someone proves it to me. Unless at the hole there is a magifying glass or a concaved mirror .

  • wtf

  • also i don't get it..

  • Lesson 1 in photography?

  • i dont get it :|

  • FAKE

  • How many office fags does it take to tape plastic garbage bags on two windows?

  • @TigerBeatJunior LOL I DONT KNOW YOUTUBE USER, TELL ME

  • @TigerBeatJunior lmao at "office fags" hahaha

  • 30 seconds at ISO 4,000? No wonder.

  • @WookieeCookies

What do u mean by NO WONDER'' ? is it possible

    ?

  • gay

  • can i use trashbags?

  • can you see the image or do you have to take a photo to see the projection

  • crazy.

  • go to wiki to find more info about Abū ʿAlī al-Ḥasan ibn al-Ḥasan ibn al-Haytham

  • Thanks to Abū ʿAlī al-Ḥasan ibn al-Ḥasan ibn al-Haytham

  • Gaffer's tape? wtf is that?

  • I did this in art class a few months ago

  • How does the image get turned upside down??

  • i would like to see other views of the room

  • Sorry but what does this have to do WITH GEOGRAPHY? NG is so desperate these days they put a prison series on youtube and now they are talking about the pope to get religious viewers. Desperate.

  • @Didymosrules I believe when they use "Geographic", it just doesn't refer to land masses and such. It also refers to have people in the world interact with the world around them, or just about the people inhabiting the land masses.

  • EXPLAIN!

  • im going to spend my entire saturday trying to do this

  • no i po co to? ani to fajnie nie wyglada, ani nic ..

  • Wow...

  • wow :)

  • the point of this futile exercise !!!!

  • Too bright for some goths.

  • We get 15 second political attack ads in Canada, how lame ...

  • I have to try this!!! Unfortunately my room is a dark blue, so I will try this on a small scale instead.

  • okk...so someone plz explain to me how this actually works? like y does it project upside down? y do camera lens do that and y does our eyes do that? how is it that that tiny whole created that image upside down in the room?

  • Thanks to Ibn al-Haytham

  • I was wondering at first why one would cover up such a beautiful view. Then I understood

  • lol the women would me doing that

  • didnt work for me ._.

  • h4x!

  • how the hell did i end up here, i was searching how to insert tampons

  • is it just me that i'm thinking it's fake?? I'm thinking this cause the image projected on the wall is too much in detail...

I'm not sure... most probably i'm wrong :/

  • @david99soad

    I don't think you're the only one..

It's totally real and it's related to physics if you have ever studied that.

And that phenomenon is the basic idea of how camera (lenses) actually work.

The one who discovered this was an Arabian Muslim called "Ibn al-Haytham", who lived from 965 to 1039. He had wrote this on a book called "Book of Optics" and from that book many discoveries were 'leached' or been used by scientists after him such as 'Newton'.

Yeah, reading is all what we need..

  • @xXxMoMo1994xXx I actually knew the basic physics but i was sceptical about the room idea. thanks for the info :)

  • @xXxMoMo1994xXx

    yeah U R right ..

that "Ibn Al-Haitham" who discovered that ...and built same room ... he built what called in Arabic "Al Qumrah" القمرة

which slanged to "Camera", and it means a wholed-dark small room

and his idea was simple ,but great ...

  • @david99soad Why would it be on the official NationalGeographic YouTube channel if it were fake...? To make it work you really need a large room and flat white surfaces or walls. The hole also has to be just the right size - I recommend starting with a fairly small hole and slowly expanding it until the desired effect is achieved.

  • @jdew84 cool, thanks dude :)

  • @david99soad The image projected is high in detail because it's real life graphics. Real life is pretty detailed, you know. This is not fake at all. The very first camera used this method and all cameras are built on that principle.

  • @PirateXzibit cool, thanks mate :)

  • I remember seeing this on a photography show, I tried it and it didn't work. My room isn't great for it tho

  • ???...kkk

  • The dislike bar is like lady gaga's penis, small and shouldnt be there!

  • @Rubekgold Go spam somewhere else not on NG's videos

  • nice look for a KITCHEN !

  • that women never gets off there!

  • Fuck National Geographic, I love those videos but they keep turning them off for my country :((

    the Czech republic

  • Physics.

  • Holy shit, Doctor Who actually has production values now.

  • sounds like witch craft burn these witches

  • What if i wanted to make a room for ma view ? =D

  • what ! iso4000 and 30s, thats same as a dark room for human eyes

  • Honestly that was one of the stupidest things I've ever seen

  • @Wawaweewaj Then you must be a stupid person.

  • Mind=Blown.

  • do you think that u made something interesting ??!

we already knew that u dumbfuck

btw this theory has been invented 2k yrs ago ... so chill

  • @thedetective22 Dumb ass of course they know that. Just enjoy shit instead of railing on it

  • @thedetective22 ah shut up ya big turd

  • amazing...jejejeje...

  • the title should be making your own room with the upside down view

  • take physics and you will understand this! Light is just a wave.

  • @mourajini That's 8th grade physical science not physics >.>

  • @mourajini i learned about this in photography in high school. its pretty simple.

  • now i know how to watch porn without a camera or a pc......... ^_^

  • cool

  • awesome.

  • that's dumb

  • Not sure how this actually works... Confused.

  • @tmanpikos similar to how ur eyeballs recieve images

  • @tmanpikos same here. if there was a lens of some sort it might make more sense but i'm guessing when they said you had to wait for your eyes to adjust, the image is very dark

  • how the hell? =O

  • I knew it... ducktape is the answer to anything!

  • @blackbirdflight Duct tape!

  • @blackbirdflight HELL YEAH!

  • @blackbirdflight duct tape ;)

  • @blackbirdflight doesnt work on the moon or underwater :/

  • @princeofexcess Why wouldn't duct tape work underwater?
