  • I aways have to shop in the kids section as I look about ten years younger than my age which bites when I'm barely 22. But I have found some pretty cute things that fit me better than any other department.

  • I really like your perspective. I'm 13 & even when I see something ( at goodwill ) that has shoulder pads, or drag- like sleeves I usually cut them off & hem them & people are like "no way!" when I tell them I shop goodwill & do that. By the way, your style is a lot like that of Courtney Love 90's era style. Watch her music video "Hole- Doll Parts" you dress like her!! Very vintag3;)

  • Oh that's not fair..Ok I'm from Sloavkia and in our second hands is clothes just from 1999 and plus...nothing vintage I tryed to find something ''vintage'' before with my friend we spend days withit but nothing :/

  • your dress is so beautiful:) i love it, and thank you so much for those amazing tips:D do more thrifting hauls please xoxo

  • @x0ticShwty @superchickrocker

I'm just saying, if she likes what she's wearing, then why should she care what you think? I'm not trying to be rude, I just think that some people don't wear clothes just to please people. They wear them because they genuinely like them. No one is asking you to wear that outfit, so why do you even care? If she wants to wear it, so what? Theres no need to put her down(:

  • I love your boldness! Being indie/vintage isn't about pleasing everybody with mainstream brands, its about finding what you like & not worrying about what other people think; its about being independent. You inspire me(:

  • @thatgal731 indie/vintage? More like Amish. She'd fit right in.

  • That's a very ugly outfit you're wearing :/ I would never go anywhere wearing that.

  • @x0ticShwty I boldly agree.

  • .how do u know when something is vintage at a thrift store? like if the store isnt vintage n its salvation army or goodwill how do u know because they carry non vintage items as well...am i suppose to be able to just look at a item n tell? i dont want to call an item vintage unless ik for sure....

p.s how do u know if a bag is vintage? i bought a bag that looks vintage but im not sure if it is. guess i have to better educate myself on vintage stuff

  • i love that dress and coat

  • What's the song used in your video?

  • Thanks so much

  • "it sounds like a drag" are you kidding me? Yard sales are SO fun. I love them!

  • i want to go here! why oh why is there nothing like this near where i live?

  • Great Video! Praise from the author of Antique & Vintage Fashions, 1745 - 1979! Love your style!

  • 90s is beginning to be considered vintage too. Think fresh prince.

  • I LOVE your clothes!!

  • I love that dress you are wearing. Love.

  • We have nothing like that in Nottingham

    (England)

    );

  • I love the dress you are wearing in this video.

  • Kiddie joke was funny! I like you.

  • I'd love to go shopping with you hehe!

  • You have such a unique style! I love it! You are so pretty and so talented and this was such good advice for shopping! I always watch your videos and I have learned so much from them! You are truly talented... ESPECIALLY with singing!

  • @Wholefood123 This is the sweetest comment ever, thank you so much darling! :))

  • @StrawberryKoiVintage

    your welcome :)

  • You're friken cool:)

    Thanks for the tips

    you rock

  • dude, I think I love you :)

  • @ghouliegirrl haha :)

  • cute japanese girl!

  • Would you say Value Village is a Thrift store? I've never been there.

  • @ProfessorLongbottom Do they sell clothes that are at least 20 years or older? Vintage isn't vintage unless it's at least 20+ years :)

  • I'm not sure if it is 20 years or older clothing but can vintage still be like flowery printed skirts?

  • @ProfessorLongbottom I'm sorry, I read your original question wrong - Yes, Value Vintage is technically a thrift store :)

  • 5 stars silly jokes :)

  • I loooooooove that dress and hat!

  • I don't have any thrift stores near me :(

Except for this one charity shop but it hardly has anything.

  • Me and my friends are planning a thrift store shopping day... ^.^

This makes me wanna go so badly =O

  • I can relate to that! :)

  • Don't forget about ebay!!! Ebay's my best friend!

I hate when I go to Goodwill and I look in their "vintage" section and find a paisley blouse that was desinged by Mary Kate and Ashley... grr.

I've complained a few times to this kid I know who works there and he was just like "I just put out the stuff they tell me to."

  • I know what you mean, and I wish I could give you 10 thumbs up because like hell I came to the dollar store to buy Mary Kate and Ashley, I could buy that for $1.50 at a regular store lol

However, I used to work in a thrift store here in Michigan called Value World and in the dude's defense, you really can't help what you're told to put out, and it's a pretty shitty job, they'll can ya if you have an opinion lol. One group puts it on hangers, another price it, and the last put it out on the rack

  • Oh, you are currently my fashion inspiration! i love your fashion, and have added your website to my Favorites.

I was just wondering, when will you add items to your ebay? I will for sure bid! :)

  • I am in a current transition from eBay to Etsy... actually my Etsy shop opens June 23rd :) :)

  • Crap, watching this gave me The Itch. The Itch I get when I want to go thrift shopping, that is. But that really isn't a bad thing...

  • @punkyrubberducky4 haha totally.. me too

  • OMG!! where did you get your dress from?? its sooo cute!

  • It's called a "Shirtwaist" dress, and it's a vintage 1950's plaid Junior... check eBay, and you'll probably find one a lot like it :) (That's where I got it too <3)

  • I love vintage stores, there is one in particular that I love, but it is out of my budget. :( lol.

  • I only love shopping @ thrift stores lol

  • I love your dress! Thanks for this video - I often walk past the childrens area. :)

  • Y¿esas tiendas las hay en España?...

  • No sé ... lo siento :(

  • Do you know any online stores that sell cheap vintage clothes? My city is really small and there are no shops that really have vintage clothes :(

  • I really recommend eBay or Etsy! There are many online vintage stores, but none that I've found could be considered cheap. That's because they really don't feel the competition, and think they can set the prices as high as they want... where as Ebay and Etsy sellers really want to keep up with all of the other cheap prices, so you can find some great deals! Sometimes even better than the deals at vintage stores :)

  • I ADHORE you & your style!

    I vintage-thrift shop as well!=]

  • Aw, thank you! And that's awesome ^_^

  • Great job Straw!! This is Smilin!!

  • I want the link!!

  • What link? ^.^

  • Great outfit

  • I read your blog spot and you set up a home business. What vintage look do u think will suit me. U are the vintage guru so yeah. (^_^),

  • hmmm, you are so delicate and pretty, that I think you are very versatile and could pull off just about anything! But if I had to choose, I would say 1930's inspired blouses and skinny pants, mixed with modern elements to add character ^_^ (ex. jewelery, shoes)

  • Oh, wow, your clothes are so lovely! I didn't even know that Vintage was a specific time period. Thank you. :]

  • OMG I love thrift shopping! you never kno what you're gonna find :) :)

  • so how can you tell if clothes are vintage or thrifted just by looking at it?

  • There are a variety of things that signal that an article of clothing is vintage.... through labels, stitching, material, zipper, buttons ... it turns out I actually wrote a tutorial "how to know". I'll email you the link :)

If anyone else wants the link, just let me know!!

  • i love vintage and i think this will help people know what they are looking for. seriously the world should be vintage vintage vintage.

  • I love thrift stores. I am SO going to GoodWill soon. lolz. I love your dress, coat, and hat btw.

    Very cool! :D

  • ur at a GoodWill hu?

  • Yep :)

  • dude that is hot (comming from a guy)

  • haha, thanks ;)

  • How did you get the audio part (like your commentary and the song at the end) to be so clear? My camera has a voice recorder but by the time i get it on youtube it sounds terrible and nothing how it sounded like on the computer. Help!

  • Actually, I bought a microphone and recorded with the basic program that came on my computer (it's just called, "sound recorder") :)

I think every computer has one... and the microphone I got, is just a cheap Wall-mart brand. Then I added the recording to the video (using Windows Movie Maker). I hope that helps, and sorry for the slow reply :)

  • This was very informative and helpful!

Thanks for all of the great tips! :)
