Review is pretty spot on. I have only played Civ 2 & this version, so in some respects it was good, others not so good. I would have loved an option to just keep playing after winner was decided. also, more army unit types.. marines, paratroops etc would have been good.

I Disagree I too am a hardcore stratagist but the game offers multiple ways to play and single player is a fantastic way to up your skill and i recomend you try Empire: Total War

i had never played a civilsation game b4 and i hated this game. I just found my self overloaded with menus and my advisors going bla bla bla. Will i prefer civilisation 3 or 4. Im probably not the biggest fan of turn-based strategy but i quite like them sections on total war.
no offense but have you thought about how incredibly hard and complex it would make the game. It's a console game and you only have thirteen buttons. So controlling everything like you can do in the PC games is almost impossible. it would be annoying.

walkanator1 is right. This is not an RPG. It's a turn based strategy game. I think a very good one although alot of hardcore strategy gamers say it's too simplistic & lacks the complexity of other games in the series but I think that's it's strength because it makes it more accessible to people who aren't hardcore strategy gamers. If you're after a good RPG for the 360, check out Oblivion (Game Of The Year Edition) - 1 of the best!
Durrr? What exactly does 'durrr' mean? I realize that graphics and sound are a big part of the game, but the guy repeated himself a thousand times and could have shortened the review by several minutes by simply summing the whole thing up.

I regret watching this video. I have this game for ps3, and i never knew that this game has a time limit until i started reading these comments. Maybe because im just finishing up on King difficulty and it hasn't taken me that long to beat it...yet.
i would rather have the civ 4 expansion pack because it has more in-depth stategy than civ revolution, costs less, longer play, and i like the fact that civ 4 applies to the intelligent guy rather than the rich idiot
I haven't played it, so I don't know. but i say, go for Civilization IV (on PC or Mac). It's far more complex. It has a learning curve that can be a little hard to get through, but after that, you'll probably not want to leave it in the coming weeks.

Having been on civ since the first game, this is pale in comparison, still can waste many a hour on it playing friends and so on. I give it 8.5 out of 10
the reason why they made the game like this is cuz console are for shooters and that kinda crap and they probally never played a stratgey so if you leave them with a hardcore complex game they wont ever play so its all about the buissness whos gonna buy it now mostlikey it is suitable for everyone
first, there are more shooters on PC than console. in any case the lack of a keyboard and mouse makes console play less geared towards a complex interface. PC controls are highly customizable and allow for more ease of play in strategy games. In my opinion that's the main reason for the simplistic nature of this game.
This game is awsome, the thing that you said about the graphics i think they r better that way because the graphics for the civ 4 I NEVER PLAYED but have seen gameplay vid of it does not look as good to me. And it looks less fun but i like that you can do more things but look to complicated to me.
I forgot something else, I want leaders to talk not mumble. Like each leader should talk in their language, for example English speaking people speak it, and advisors should english. BTW the harder the difficulty is the faster other Civs keep getting more technology even on the King difficulty I was forced to fight Civ armed with riflemen cannons and planes while I'm stuck with arrows and swordsmen. So how do you people keep up the competition against them on harder difficulties?
Revolutions is a good game and very simple. I think it's design for people who are starting to play the Civilization franchise. It's simple, and it's good even on the DS but the only thing I don't like is units have gone back to defensive, offensive strength bar so it can show a rifleman can destory a tank and aircrafts.
I think Civilization on the PC is more in depth and fun and Revolutions is one of the many strategy games that are trying to get in the game consoles.
i agree.... i ruined the game for myself cause i played on easy and did everything there is to do. im not big on how i can control every detail of my civilazation but this game is way to short i was thinking about getting civilzation 4. in your opion how long do u think it would take to beat. cause im looking for a civilization game that takes like a week or so to beat
I have both versions, and I love both of em. PC version is better because of the sheer personability of the CIV IV. Like design your maps, modding, etc etc.
Also, well the computer inteface is just superior.

I have this game for ps3, and i never knew that this game has a time limit until i started reading these comments. Maybe because im just finishing up on King difficulty and it hasn't taken me that long to beat it...yet.

i would rather have the civ 4 expansion pack because it has more in-depth stategy than civ revolution, costs less, longer play, and i like the fact that civ 4 applies to the intelligent guy rather than the rich idiot

you'll notice that you will never be hooked on that amount of time. as soon as you get better you'll rarely reach the year 2000.

I haven't played it, so I don't know. but i say, go for Civilization IV (on PC or Mac). It's far more complex. It has a learning curve that can be a little hard to get through, but after that, you'll probably not want to leave it in the coming weeks.

This is another game that could've been better. Why did'nt they do like Empire Earth and have big maps and have units fight like they would in real life.Not one at a time.

The graphis it's like something from Roald Dahl or Dr Seuss. Why so cartoony i liked civ 3 not the terain and stuff but the people on the diplomacy thing. I have been playing civ 4 for a while and it is alright but i really miss the botton in the city to show over the city like kinda a picture

cool game. your right though,.......its not as satisfying to screw over your enemies. ALL MY CIV PEOPLE KNOW EXACTLY WHY! IT IS FUCKING HARD TO BEAT THE SHIT OUT OF RIVALS IN THE OTHER CIV GAMES!!! all newbies be warned,.......you may end up crying like a little girl if u think that the other civs are like this one.

All in all a good game and online helps the reply value. Like you say evrything is smaller and shorter and less complex ( i understand why) but still annoying.
Having been on civ since the first game, this is pale in comparison, still can waste many a hour on it playing friends and so on. I give it 8.5 out of 10

the reason why they made the game like this is cuz console are for shooters and that kinda crap and they probally never played a stratgey so if you leave them with a hardcore complex game they wont ever play so its all about the buissness whos gonna buy it now mostlikey it is suitable for everyone

first, there are more shooters on PC than console. in any case the lack of a keyboard and mouse makes console play less geared towards a complex interface. PC controls are highly customizable and allow for more ease of play in strategy games. In my opinion that's the main reason for the simplistic nature of this game.

This game is awsome, the thing that you said about the graphics i think they r better that way because the graphics for the civ 4 I NEVER PLAYED but have seen gameplay vid of it does not look as good to me. And it looks less fun but i like that you can do more things but look to complicated to me.

I forgot something else, I want leaders to talk not mumble. Like each leader should talk in their language, for example English speaking people speak it, and advisors should english. BTW the harder the difficulty is the faster other Civs keep getting more technology even on the King difficulty I was forced to fight Civ armed with riflemen cannons and planes while I'm stuck with arrows and swordsmen. So how do you people keep up the competition against them on harder difficulties?

Revolutions is a good game and very simple. I think it's design for people who are starting to play the Civilization franchise. It's simple, and it's good even on the DS but the only thing I don't like is units have gone back to defensive, offensive strength bar so it can show a rifleman can destory a tank and aircrafts.
I think Civilization on the PC is more in depth and fun and Revolutions is one of the many strategy games that are trying to get in the game consoles.

i agree.... i ruined the game for myself cause i played on easy and did everything there is to do. im not big on how i can control every detail of my civilazation but this game is way to short i was thinking about getting civilzation 4. in your opion how long do u think it would take to beat. cause im looking for a civilization game that takes like a week or so to beat

I have both versions, and I love both of em. PC version is better because of the sheer personability of the CIV IV. Like design your maps, modding, etc etc.
Also, well the computer inteface is just superior.
