First, this is a stupid video and nobody does this. Yea, so carrying a gun is going to cause police to be too busy to do their job? Thats kind of a long reach. I don't think open carry is a good idea just because it scares the sheep (and the cops too), but if the law says he can, its nobodies business. @TheOriginalDecider Well I'm not afraid to admit when I was wrong. I was misinformed about having to show your ID by a police officer who "detained" me in the street and said that I had to show him my license to carry. I just took his word for it and moved on. My original point way back before I started commenting with you was that instead of giving the cop a hard time, just let him see that your carrying legally and move on. There's no reason to give him a hard time unless he's being a asshole.

I already know what the laws are in other states and that's why I'm moving to Arizona. My argument still stands though that you cannot decline to show a LEO your open carry ID in Cali. without being detained.

And cops who knew and obeyed the law could turn a 5 minute encounter into a non-encounter by not trying to hassle, haggle, argue, and violate someone who has done nothing wrong.

At one point in history, cops would stop black people and demand ID because they were black. I guess they were just being difficult when they didn't like being hassled for their civil liberties...why should we care about civil rights.

The principle of the matter is that an LEO does not have the authority to demand to know who you are for no reason. You can either submit and it'll become common practice for the police to feel empowered, or you can give them a shit time and they'll feel you're not worth it.

Hey, if you're lucky they'll perform some rough justice for their dashboard cam and you'll walk away 200k up in a year or so.

I don't think I've ever known of an open carrier going up to police to give them a hard time. Usually its the police that seek out the gun owner. When they do find one, they stop him and harrass him and since he doesn't bend over, kiss their ass or suck the cop's dick like officers are used to from most other law abiding citizens in our society then the officer gets his ego bruised and reacts accordingly. Fight on people and don't ever stop questioning authority.
