i love this song. i love just about everything Brandy does. i don't care if she's RnB, pop, rap, country or whatever. i love it all! as long as her music stays with good messages, that will be good. i know she will always do that though. :)

i agree with nwilson. brandy is my favorite of all times. she never worried about bein the prettiest or a sex symbol even though she is both. she's a real musician that can adapt to change very well. i'll support thru thick and thin times

You shouldnt hate on Beyonce, just love them both. If you have your preference thats cool. But there is no way you can write off Beyonce as a vocalist and say out of the two only Brandys a real singer. Range, power, versatility, technique and control Beyonce is clearly superior. Brandy however has a magical tone to her voice and her runs are so creative and effortless that shes a pleasure to listen to. Technically at least shes not on Beyonces level. She is however one of my fave singers ever.

Youre putting words in my mouth. I never said that every comment not in favour of Bey is hating. I called someone out for bringing Beyonce into a post unnecessarily multiple times and saying that Brandy was a more skilled vocalists with no reference to how that was the case. Making much better music is debatable but regardless, that has nothing to do with vocal ability. Like i said i like both of them. Not once did i say you have to be a powerhouse singer to be better. Power was just one of the aspects i listed as to why Beyonce is technically better therefore that point is irrelevant. I then went on to refer to Brandys vocal creativity in her favour. Brandy lacks Beyonces range, power, technique and control, but she has a lovely tone and imaginative runs.

These days Beyonce has toned down her runs and as a result has achieved a far more refined and even mature vocal sound. So whilst you might not hear it in recent material, her back catalogue has intricate runs beyond anything ive heard Brandy pull off. Reference her cover of "Fever" for example. Brandy does more runs thats for sure, but then thats as a substitute for belting.

Lyric refers to me not having a voice as thick and powerful as a dramatic baritone who would have a darker tone and more robust voice. My tone is more light and boyish with a higher range. On a good day i can hit that note at the end of Destinys Childs Happy Face. An E6.

No not necessarily. You need to get the idea out of your head that just because shes a girl and youre a guy that she automatically can hit higher notes. As a tenor you have a very high male voice and the tenor range almost matches the alto range that Brandy sings in. So its completely feasible that you can hit notes she can. Just like its feasible that as a contralto she might be able to hit lower notes than you. I can hit higher notes in falsetto than A Keys or Brandy have demonstrated

But you can only go by what has been demonstrated. And given the length of Brandys career i believe if she had great head voice capacity then it would have been displayed by now. "True" does not really show head voice. When she sings the word "Heart" it sounds like mixed voice. If you want to hear great Head Voice then listen to Beyonces Naughty Girl.

In terms of a factual debate, if she hasnt been shown to be able to do it, then you cant argue that she can. The fact that her vocal classification marks her as having a weak head voice and the fact that she's never done it means in general real life terms she likely doesnt have great head voice capacity as well. But in denate terms, without proof then she cant.

I go off singing experience, technical knowledge which you lack in spades and by knowledge of many singers in the contralto class. As a class they generally dont have good head voices but you will admittedly get some that do and we know this because THEY USE IT WELL. Brandy hasnt done in about 15 years of career and the lack of virato in the "True" note you worship speaks for itself. Thats my reasoning and common sense. Tessitura is the range a singer is comfortable in and can comfortably hit on any given day. The notes Beyonce was riffing with are way beyond Brandys tessitura therefore proving Brandy couldnt riff with them. Its feasible she could hit them, but hitting a note and riffing with it are two different things and to be able to riff high and fast with a note it needs to be within your tessitura. That is a fact. Brandy being able to do much more than whats she's done on the CD's is just your opinion.

Its hardly screaming. But thats just down to personal taste. Technically its anything but that. Its upper register chest belts. Beyonce toned down her runs because she was going with a more rock/pop ballad sound this time around. You cant say Bey belts to compensate for a lack of riffing ability because she has shown great capacity for both live or otherwise. Brandy hasnt in her 10+ years in the business.

You shouldnt hate on Beyonce, just love them both. If you have your preference thats cool. But there is no way you can write off Beyonce as a vocalist and say out of the two only Brandys a real singer. Range, power, versatility, technique and control Beyonce is clearly superior. Brandy however has a magical tone to her voice and her runs are so creative and effortless that shes a pleasure to listen to. Technically at least shes not on Beyonces level. She is however one of my fave singers ever.

Making much better music is debatable but regardless, that has nothing to do with vocal ability. Like i said i like both of them. Not once did i say you have to be a powerhouse singer to be better. Power was just one of the aspects i listed as to why Beyonce is technically better therefore that point is irrelevant. I then went on to refer to Brandys vocal creativity in her favour. Brandy lacks Beyonces range, power, technique and control, but she has a lovely tone and imaginative runs.

These days Beyonce has toned down her runs and as a result has achieved a far more refined and even mature vocal sound. So whilst you might not hear it in recent material, her back catalogue has intricate runs beyond anything ive heard Brandy pull off. Reference her cover of "Fever" for example. Brandy does more runs thats for sure, but then thats as a substitute for belting.

Lyric refers to me not having a voice as thick and powerful as a dramatic baritone who would have a darker tone and more robust voice. My tone is more light and boyish with a higher range. On a good day i can hit that note at the end of Destinys Childs Happy Face. An E6.

No not necessarily. You need to get the idea out of your head that just because shes a girl and youre a guy that she automatically can hit higher notes. As a tenor you have a very high male voice and the tenor range almost matches the alto range that Brandy sings in. So its completely feasible that you can hit notes she can. Just like its feasible that as a contralto she might be able to hit lower notes than you. I can hit higher notes in falsetto than A Keys or Brandy have demonstrated

But you can only go by what has been demonstrated. And given the length of Brandys career i believe if she had great head voice capacity then it would have been displayed by now. Youre right, not all people of a certain vocal classification can hit the same notes. Thats why we judge artists by their live performances and studio recordings. Nowhere in her recording career has Brandy shown any strong head voice capacity ever. And the fact that she's a contralto indicates that she doesnt have great ability in that register because thats a characteristic of that class. In terms of a factual debate, if she hasnt been shown to be able to do it, then you cant argue that she can. The fact that her vocal classification marks her as having a weak head voice and the fact that she's never done it means in general real life terms she likely doesnt have great head voice capacity as well. But in denate terms, without proof then she cant.

Im not smart? And yet youre adamantly refusing to accept the fact that Brandy cant do head voice notes like Beyonce even though one of a technical ear can hear from Brandys singing its way past her tessitura, that her contralto class makes it very unlikely(even the best contraltos like Chaka Khan dont even have great head voice and have never shown after 40yrs) and shes never done it in over 10yrs of career and all out of stubborness to concede. I go off singing experience, technical knowledge which you lack in spades and by knowledge of many singers in the contralto class. As a class they generally dont have good head voices but you will admittedly get some that do and we know this because THEY USE IT WELL. Brandy hasnt done in about 15 years of career and the lack of virato in the "True" note you worship speaks for itself. Thats my reasoning and common sense. Yours is she aint done it but we dont know she cant do it lmao

If you havent seen someone do something and their demonstrated abilities consistently showed over around 15 years that this thing is beyond their abilities and on top of that people of similar abilities and nature cant do this thing, then to claim that they can do it, backtrack when youre found to have no evidence and finally to fall back on the awful logic that shes never done it but that doesnt mean she cant do it in light of all of that is a very foolish thing to do indeed.

Once again, just as you've been doing throughout this youre not reading my comments properly, leading you to misinterpret them and then reply with irrelevance. Not having knowledge of those things isnt what showed your age because you could be any age and not know about this, it depends on interests. What showed your age was that despite not having tech knowledge, despite no evidence, despite Brandys abilities tessitura suggesting strongly she couldnt, you persisted with your illogical argument

Her tessitura(use Wiki), her vocal class and the way she handles her notes makes it very very unlikely that she cant, therefore she cant from what we've seen until proven otherwise. Simple.

I know exactly what im talking about. Ive referred to her tessitura, how she handled the note in her song "True" and ive referred to other singers in the same vocal class to highlight the trends for singers of that group. In light of all of that sound reasoning, all you have said is she hasnt done it, but that doesnt mean she can do it, a contradiction to your earlier claim that she could do it just as good as Beyonce and poor logic in light of the points i highlighted.

I simply made an observation that your unwillingness to concede even though you had no evidence, no tech knowledge and Brandys demonstrated abilities and those of her vocal class spoke against showed your age. Nope. Again youre demonstrating your lack of the technicals behind singing. Brandys tessitura(look it up!) shows that its beyond her ability to do. It is audible. On top of that the fact that she has never done it in 15yrs supports that as does the fact that her vocal class are generally expected to have weak head voice. We're not talking about whistle register in the 7th octave. We're talking about a head voice riff. A register that is commonly used. If she could do it then she would have.

You claimed Brandy could do something that she couldnt do and when i showed you the error of your ways your last resort is, you cant say she cant do something unless she's tried it and failed. Thats poor. I can say she cant do it because of her audible tessitura, the length of time in the game she's had to show she can do it and her vocal class. Simple. As it stands Beyonces head voice riffs are beyond anything Brandy(who has shown little to no head voice capability) has done

I never said you said she had a higher head voice. You said Brandy could do the head voice riffs Beyonce did, not knowing they were in head voice but just saying yes she could simply because you believe Brandy is better at riffing. When i told you it was in head voice and Brandy has little head voice capability, thats when this changed from who's a better riffer to focusing on the extent of Brandys head voice capabilities. But whatever, this pretty much ended when you had no evidence.

You said that Brandy could do the run and for her to be able to do so she'd need a head voice on an equal footing with Beyonce at least given that it was a high and fast melisma done within head voice, so yes you did say that. Its an opinion regarding a measurable quantity(i.e head voice riffing capacity) therefore it can be proven to be right or wrong. Brandys tessitura shows its beyond her capability, therefore youre wrong.

If you say you like Brandys voice better, or youy prefer her runs, then thats cool, but when you start comparing her riffing capacity to Beyonce especially head voice capability, then thats a measurable quantity, therefore your opinion can be proven right or wrong. Tessitura is the range a singer is comfortable in and can comfortably hit on any given day. The notes Beyonce was riffing with are way beyond Brandys tessitura therefore proving Brandy couldnt riff with them. Its feasible she could hit them, but hitting a note and riffing with it are two different things and to be able to riff high and fast with a note it needs to be within your tessitura. That is a fact. Brandy being able to do much more than whats she's done on the CD's is just your opinion.

When your opinion involves measurable quantities such as range, riffing capacity and power, then your opinion can be proven right or wrong so you cant just fall back and say thats my opinion and thats yours. I've already answered this before. Before your argumentative self starts typing, take a breath and read and comprehend what ive said. If your opinion contains measurable quantities then it can be proven right or wrong. Yours does, its about riffing capacity and head voice ability so your opinion can be researched and either approved or shown to be nonsense. If you were to just say you prefer Brandys voice or you like her riffs better then that is pure opinion. Understand the difference.

Its not about hitting the right note, its about doing a riff with that note which is far more difficult than just reaching it. You'd have to be very comfortable in that register to do that and Brandys tessitura(once again look it up to stop you replying out of ignorance) clearly shows that she is not. Thats what you dont get. It is a measurable quantity it isnt just an opinion. Her contralto class and the fact that she's rarely used that register are supporting evidence but that is the clincher

for instance in the song "baby boy"..she sure belts but she also belting so loud its borderline screaming..but again she can blow we all know that and her runs are incredible..i dont think breandy could sing songs like ave maria or single ladies anywhere near as good as beyonce but run wise shes better..why do u think beyonce toned down her runs..she more popular then ever with her new sound u could say beyonce belts to avoid running but thats not the case..she can do both..

Its hardly screaming. But thats just down to personal taste. Technically its anything but that. Its upper register chest belts. Beyonce toned down her runs because she was going with a more rock/pop ballad sound this time around. You cant say Bey belts to compensate for a lack of riffing ability because she has shown great capacity for both live or otherwise. Brandy hasnt in her 10+ years in the business.

ive heard borderline screams before technical or not and i didnt say she belts to compensate if u read It I said that u cant say that because beyonce can do both..bran cant do upper register chest belts like beyonce but what she does is belting in her range shes not trying to have this loud sound like beyonce..i mean brandy soft silky smooth...beyonce powerful and strong and they both have great voices..and comparing these two is not a good thing to do because there nothing alike vocally..

Not one of those songs had a more intricate run than Beyonces at the beginning of Fever. So that points irrelevant. Quality over quantity. I am giving credit where its due, Brandy is more creative with her runs and she has a richer tone than Bey.

Im a massive Brandy fan. Only Beyonce tops her in my heart lol. But Never have i heard Brandy shown as much agility as the run Beyonce does 3 mins into Bootyliscious and there's not a single run in Human that is harder to pull off than the one at the beginning of Fever.

So because youre an amateur singer who finds doing Brandys runs more difficult that means automatically that Brandys runs are officially more intricate? Beyonces run wasnt in falsetto, it was head voice. Learn the difference. Brandy as a lyric contralto would never in a million years be able to do a ghead voice run like that. She possesses little to no head voice range. I have the Human album. I love it. Its not as good as Afrodisiac which is her best followed by Never Say Never :)

You finding it easier to sing one artists material over another can be down to your tessitura and vocal classifcation. It doesnt automatically make Brandys runs more complex. Youre speaking from an amateur perspective after all. You didnt even know the difference between head and falsetto lol. How can you call doing an intricate and extremely agile head voice riff easier than chest voice when Brandy has little head voice range?
