So... you incorrectly install and adjust a Tial, on purpose. And the Synchronic isn't even on the FUCKING PIPE? WHAT?! You've roved nothing more than you're trying to sell a product and failing at it.
@Marshmallowrex lol your seriously a huge fucking homo... let me guess you either 1. dont own anything worth a flying fuck. or 2. own a Turbo XS RFL aka Really Fucking Leaky!
@bottlefedtsi You seem to talk a lot of shit and can't back anything up. I'm under the impression you are on of those ricers who hang out up at the shell station on north academy and acts like they are gonna do something when all you do is fucking loeider on public property. Don't be mad Joel the troll that your thread got closed on CRN, your stupidity amazes me. Its even worst on youtube.
@vfIskullangel Lol nice. Stalking me in other videos! Would you like to blow me now or later? Yep I'm a ricer that cant back anything up... you caught me. My Talon is a big old bag of rice that still has a COMPLETELY STOCK motor that has a Holset Hy-35 on 31 psi... whenever that pos camaro wants to get broke the fuck off let me know you fat fuck. Or whenever you get your Magical "Lambo" that your low life ass will never be able to afford.. have a nice day!
@bottlefedtsi My Talon this My Talon that man fuck your talon and its amazing unreliablity. You talk a lot of shit and you can't back any of it up. Sure I'm a fatass but atleast I'm not a broke ass like you who can't even afford a fucking camera to prove you run 14's. I suppose your the real shit while everyone else is posing well i've got news motherfucker I'm one of the few besides scubasteve who puts up videos for the springs, its guys like you who need to shut up cause you ain't doing shit.
@vfIskullangel Yea i cant back up anything at all! Let me know "where to find you" and il be there... i have $100 that says you wont be. pussy. have a nice day being single and crying about it all over the internet... "WHAAAA no girls will date my overweight min wage having fat ass low life piece of shit self WHAAAA" yea dude we all read it. You know who I am... I guarantee it. Remember Tyler with the black srt-4 and the black stroked 87 mustang? ya thats me.... Time and Place! have a nice day!
@bottlefedtsi And I have $100 that says all your gonna do is talk shit, Try and call me out in front of the shell folks and I'm gonna make you look stupid by telling you that you aren't worth my time or gas and then your gonna come home and keep running your mouth about me as most people do. FYI I've actually been dating quite a bit lately so thats no longer an issue. I don't know a Tyler with a black SRT-4 or a stroked Mustang LOL. Your shit out of luck pal.
@bottlefedtsi Remember I don't street race but if you down to do this shit on the Xbox through some Forza be my guest. I've made myself clear that I'm against street racing all together. I'm not making an acception for you or anyone else who sports a weed wacker and thinks they are Dominic Toretto. So I expect whatever the fuck you have planned for me better be something beyond a personal confronation or call me out in front of the high school kids. :)
@vfIskullangel BTW fat ass. This isn't Joel. he's a serious Homo aswell. COme find me this weekend and say this shit to my face! I bet youll just drive by and be a pussy because thats all your useful for! Ill be driving a White 1990 TSI with evo 9 BBS wheels on it. Ill see you this weekend princess!
@bottlefedtsi Either way your still dumb like Joel. You can act all tough but how about you come find me cause your ass ain't worth my fucking time. You know what my car looks like and it sounds like you run your mouth more than your car. 14 seconds of shit talking sounds more acurate than a 1/4second 1/4mile. Further more I have videos of Lambos to prove that I have experience with those cars, what the fuck do you have to show for it?.......................Thats what I thought.....
The Synchronic line of products are available by registering at SYNAPSEENGINEERING*COM/CART, use referral code YOUTUBE when you register and be eligible for limited edition designs and market pre-releases
the only comment i have is that the vacuum source could have been to far away from the push type bov and thats why you are getting a delayed response. i only raise this issue because i cant see the vacuum line for the synchronic one for all i know is you have the vacuum for the push type ran all over the engine bay and the sychronic t'ed in right. im not bashing just raising a concern i have been curious about your products for a while now
@KenpaZara BOV's are supposed to open from the vacuum line only. The spring is just there to hold the BOV closed when the pressure in the intake manifold and pressure in front of the throttle plate is almost the same. When the throttle body is closed, there's vacuum in the intake manifold. The vacuum is what "pulls" the valve to release the pressurized air. It's NOT the pressurized air pushing the BOV open.
@UOYtaLOL U do realize that GARRETT, SAMCO, EXEDY, WISECO, CP, POWERENTERPRISE, STILLEN, as well as OEM all hve EBAY sites right. The majority of major manufacturers hve an ebay site not everything is chinese knock offs. But you keep going to the sales person over the phone that will sell you the same part they sell on their ebay site for 20% more. That way you can brag abt how much money you spent instead of how fast your car is.
@DVcustomZ What are you talking about you waffle maker?? I'm talking about the bull shit silicon hose kit attached to the TiAL... If you don't know the reason I'm making the comment about the Silicon hose then you really have no clue. Yes I realize the cost savings of Ebay. In fact I've purchased many parts for my Supra there. So what's your Point? I've spent a shit ton of money on my car, over 10,000 grand in engine build and supported mods alone. Yes my car is fast.. I don't brag about either.
@UOYtaLOL Sounds like you over spent to me. So let me guess he should hve AN fittings or braided steel line for that vac line huh. Supra guys are the biggest snobs they all think the R boost logic or something but in reality most of them are slow. Big turbo slow overpriced cars. Only Tuner snobs brag abt how much they spent instead of trap speeds,1/4 time, 1mile times. lateral G, or lap times just how much money they hve spent. FYI dollars spent doesnot equal better just empty pockets
@DVcustomZ LOL you really are an Ignorant arse whole.. Thanks you've made me laugh today.. Why don't you look up what cheap silicon hoses will do to your vacuum signal at your BOV. Until then you are just some guy in cyber-space being a know it all. It's funny how you can judge someone and you have no clue about.. Do you even care to ask about what my car can do? I'm just proving a point you made.. And I don't brag about either.. In fact I tell people it's just a Celica (OhNoes) and 16.7 1/4 HA
the push type in this video had a restriction in the actuation line some where i have seen others work that way also. the bov should open fast. the 14$ ebay bov i have been using is a brass piston and a spring. works fast dumps boost during shifts. pretty simple.
the idea of this type of bov is the charge pressure holds the valve shut vs the push type what ever the boost wants to push it open. the synchronic valve is simply a normal bov installed backwards. does it matter ? not really !
You are retarded the tial valve needs a different spring and must be set with a vaccum pump that doesn't mean it opens more slowly it is just set incorrectly. The Synchronic is already set to open at a lower amount of vaccum which is why it opens earlier. Cmon both of these valves flow enough to eliminate compressor surge up to 500hp you just gotta set them up right which most people never do correctly because they don't know how to adjust a blow off valve. My tial opens faster then that BTW!
This video is false, i can tell that the spring they are using on the Tial is too hard. On a Tial bov you are supposed to oreder it based on YOUR CARS vacuum.
@imaginep79, It wasn't hooked up to the charge pipe.. they just hooked up vacuum to show how slow that BOV on the charge pipe opened even WITH a load.
can some one explain to me how u get the chirp from a turbo charger, and i believe its acchomplished with not having a bov, would that damage it or blow the engine? my wrx doesent have one, and i dont know shit about turbos, im a supercharger man.

@mediarocker543 my boys sti chirps, i just bought a wrx for the hell of it, back before rotation, and i had my bro put it together, but there is no bov, or its completly hidden, either way there is no bov, and im getting back pressure, and i can hear the blades turning back it makes a noise like woooto to to when i shift, not sure this isbad but deff not good, what should i do
@puremilitary101, While i'm no expert, if this system came on the vehicle.. its quite likely it has a recirc valve.. it shouldn't be doing this..so check your vacuum lines to the valve. It may just need to be replaced.. just replace the stock one with the same or put an aftermarket on it
@mediarocker543 its not a stock turbo its a sts trubo for a firebird, my bro built it, idk what he did, ran car on dyno before turbo intall, 440 hp, now its supposed to had atleast 40 horses, but its only adding 20 to 30, not to good is it
@mediarocker543 o and i think it runs an open wastegate, i know very little about turbos, its supposed to be a drift, and circuit car, its fine and all but it should be putting out 700 hp, and its not at all, but that could be bec i dident install the new cam, or the rockers, also the turbo is a single, i want to install a twin, good or bad for my application
@puremilitary101 btw i actually have a new trubo kit ready to go on, but heres my real question, is a twin turbo to much, and should i run a open wastegate, or a closed one, i have a flutter dump valve type, and a greedy type s, which is better. sorry to bombard u with questions....
@puremilitary101, If you have flutter dump thats not the wastegate. The wastegate regulates boost pressure. the BOV is what might be causing flutter. You should put your BOV close to the TB so when it closes it releases the built up pressure. as for what brand or whatnot... people swear by Tial, and people swear by Greddy.. its all whatever you want. I personally like the Synchronic BOV and plan on using it when I turbo my MZR.
@puremilitary101 and the new turbo kit is a twin turbo set, if u got my last message 25000 in the car, loosing massive ammounts of hp some where, a hundred at least, i just need to know about the turbo before i install the new one.
@puremilitary101 and last but not least, the turbo runs 7 psi, i dont wana run it any higher, the twin turbo puts out alot more, im using the same lines, just a new turbo, well ill add lines, and such, to accomodate for the second turbo, but other then that im lost
@puremilitary101, dude, youtube is no place to be having this convo. LOL, You mentioned firebird earlier.. so If you got a firebird, find a firebird forum and ask your questions there. I know little about your vehicle especially STS turbos. depending on the location of the turbo you can do Open or piped gates. as long as the exhaust gets pulled away from the intake you can run a open gate. Twins can make up where a single big turbo lacks.. providing power throughout your rev range.
That's a sign of a spring that's a little to stiff. Recirculating is not going to make it open any sooner. It's also not going to defeat the pressure on the pressurized side. The big reason to recirculate it, is because on a engine with a mass air flow that air has been accounted for. Dumping it will cause the engine to be rich every time it blows off.
The other reason is it can keep the turbo spinning faster, though it's not going to make any difference if the BOV is slowing it down.
tial is a good brand, not bad at all, my problem would be that I want a silent blow off valve, and the synchronic is definitely less noisy than the tial. I don't need to broadcast that I have a turbo, I'd rather just blaze past you in glory.
compressor surge is when the air CANNOT get out of your pipeline properly and being forced backwards into the turbo, causing it to spin backwards. re-circulation has NOTHING to do with compressor surge.
recirculate the pressure into the non pressurized intake. putting all the pressure in the non pressure side, its like a ram air intake that will keep the turbo from backspinning.
yeah except that by recirculating the charge air you prevent compressor surge... so I guess it'd have everything to do with not having compressor surge.
have you ever heard compressor surge? look up some video's on youtube get a general understanding. compressor surge is when the throttle closes (usually during a shift!) and the left over air, inside the piping, isn't pushed out of the "blow off valve", hence, BLOW OFF, and the air then begins its way BACK to the turbo, going in the opposite direction, also causing your turbo to spin backwards. that is compressor surge. and its VERY bad for your car AND turbo.
I have to laugh at you, you obviously have no idea what your talking about.
I am a licenced aircraft engineer, I work with turbomeca gas turbines day in day out for the top helicopter service company in the North Seas Oil & Gas industry.
I know what surge is. The wheel in the turbo definatly does not STOP & start spinning the other waywhen you lift off the throttle.
Our aircraft bleed air off on startup as the engine isn't flowing enough air to run effectively at low rpms= compressor surge
@saxowestie yeah, you, some random dude, works as a helicopter service company in the north sea oil and gas industry...... sure ya do, and I work as a technician for Ferrari. oh and I am a boat captain, and a fighter pilot......
Your jet engine isn't a turbo. Its a turbine, two completely different things kid. I know, I've build motors, I've tuned cars with my buddy (who happens to be the 3rd best tuner on the east coast). you must be one of those wiki fags or honda-tech forums kids. lol.
@bastec666, he is right. 9 times out of 10 the blades dont actually reverse. But there have been cases where they have. Most of the time its just pressure build up stalling the compressor.
Tial uses interchangeable springs. Tial is awesome drag cars or vehicles always on alot of boost and high rpms. The synapse bov is great for those daily. Both will do great... but the synapse is easily better for those on low boost and daily.
I love the synchronic bov. never had an issue. plus it not having a diaphragm makes it more reliable than a conventional bov. not the loudest bov but def one of the best!!
noo, the synchronic bov is good, deff one of the better ones out there, however, the tial bov is not working corrrectly at all in this video becuase i currently own one and have it on my car pushing 26lbs of boost
i think the thing people are missing also is the fact that they are only revving the engine, thus not building any sort of "real" pressure. So 1 this kind of surge is not enough to cause ANY damage 2 this is why the BOV is only opening slowly. all the videos ive seen from this company are self gratifying rubbish. But whatever works for you i suppose.
@xxxxdarksidexxxx, Enlighten me to how its installed wrong. Really I'm serious. I have no idea how a BOV can be installed wrong besides not hooking up the BOV to a vacuum source. I'm not a Syncronic fanboy nor am I a religious follower of any other companies. I just wanna know how this is installed incorrectly.
this actually works better then most other bov's you jus think it sucks cuz it dosent have a loud release.....plus this puts less stress on the turbo, and its good for sleeper cars. unless you wan the whole world to know u got a turbo.
Nooooo.........................I think not.............I own a 97 supra running about 480 and I am boosting 12 pounds, and I use a HKS SSQV in RECERC. You must be another one of those ricer kids..............Never had a problem with hks, unlike this synchronic bov that seems to work like crap......and that is not a real tial, I have seen even lower end tials and they react MUCH faster then that......My friend, you are lieing and partaking in false marketing. I will NEVER use that garbage.
u know what i take it back, i did some reasearch on it and it does suck, in order to improve it, you have to attach stupid parts to it for throttle response improvement, and it looks retarded....my bad, and i aint no ricer kid.....personally i hate hondas, im a yota guy.
heres the problem. I had the syncronic on the evo and it wasnt a waste just not my preference. The syncronic(and I tried this) doesn work from a complete vacume source like any other bov. there are 3 function lines 2 of them needed as a source to vacume form the atmosphere or the bov doesnt work. a tial has but one on each side. the tial has to have its boost source from the ic pipe as the syncronic does not thus it is not a true boost reliever. it will just dump the air thats beneath it
thus the vacume source is moving that air by holding it then releasing it. great bov as to do its job to atmosphere the air. it just wasn't that great under track use because i can feel the left over boost build up then causing a slower reaction between shifts. I will say i never had a problem with it on the street. If they can move that tech into a susutained boost type of bov that would be incredible. for now if your running lower boost you'll be fine but you'll understand after about 40 psi

If you are running a MAF car, you should be recirculating the BOV anyhow and run it as a DV. With a MAF, you shouldn't be discharging to atmosphere. With a MAP car, it isn't even an issue. Watch the video on the BMW 335i and you'll see that you don't always have to filter. Especially when the turbo is always spitting airflow out the BOV.
the problem is most cars, such as my 300zx, use MAF's. so running BOV's venting to atmosphere is actually destructive, because they create a momentary rich condition when the ECU calculates the air to be recirculated when in fact it is being vented.
hey devil celica dumbass, did you see the operator reving that thing to red line and trying to build 30psi? no, because he's trying to compare the reaction time between the 2 bov. try to understand the videos message first before you start running your month like an unleashed rabid dog.
smart one there... using a 50mm bov on a car that clearly needs no more than a 25mm valve to work...... are u really that stupid 2 compare apples 2 oranges???? a 50mm valve is used to vent 30+ psi not the small 2psi max the free rev would make
Everyone has their preferences, that is ok. You can stick to what you you've got and run it until the brass galls, take it apart, rebuild it and dose all day long. Have fun with it.
not to bash on synchronic but the tial bovs are bad ass, people just order them with the wrong spring, 15lbs of boost dosent need a 15lb spring etc ill admit i think the synchronic bov is pretty cool but im confused as to what the anti stall valve is? the only reason id consider the synchro over tial is im not going to be running high boost all the time i have 2 setting one for 15lbs and one for 22lbs and i dont want to switch springs im sure i could get a weak one and call it good but who knows
the bov probably wasnt connected to the pipe...lol I agree. This had to have been rigged. That tial in the vid performed worst than any bov I have ever seen.
That's funny, considering that our top selling BOV adapter is Tial, and not because people would fall for something in a video. It is because people watch the video and realize that they're experiencing the same thing and then buy the product to fix the problem. If you aren't having problems, then good for you, that rocks. But I assure you that nothing is rigged. You can come down anytime to our facility in San Diego and see for yourself.
It is also ironic. Search under flutterdump and see the comments of some Tial users. And also the numerous comments posted by Tial users that also have this problem
My uncle races a Porsche in the PCA. He has run a Tial 50mm for approx 5-7 years (bad brain), he has never blown a turbo and no compressor stalling what so ever. And it reacts nothing like this one. He is making approx 600hp. Running 2 Hour enduro's. I believe that this is an installation and compatability error.
When buying a Blow-off valve you should conceder amount of CFM it moves out of the intake system, how well it holds boost & it's reliability. I race in NHRA & Tial Sport has been proven on racetracks and drag strips way before it was available to the public. Tial is the best wastegate and blow-off valve manufacture on the market. Most SCCA, IDRA, IDRC, GT, NHRA, Turbo Cars use Tial product not because of the noise it makes. Good Luck.
I want to supercharger my ride, allready have the blower but I need a way to keep idle boost @ 0psi and max boost @ 5psi How can I do this? Will this work for a supercharged low boost setup? This is the only thing holding me up... I'm a complete noob and want to do it all myself with friends and not pay $5000 by taking it to a local shop.
Synchronic BOV will only work with centrifugal blowers, not roots. If you have one of those it will work perfectly. Look for one of our videos titled comptech and you'll see that the BOV is open at high vacuum so that you don't get idle overrun. It works well with a supercharger.
yeah it is an eaton, but it is not being mounted directly to intake manifold like how it should. It is being mounted on the other side of the engine and piping run from left side through a behind bumper intercooler and from there to the intake. My S/C doesn't have built in bov. or blow So I wanna put a bov on the pipe between IC and intake manifold.
To prove that the Synapse BOV is not hype, we are starting a try before you buy program. You can actually test drive a Synapse BOV versus what you currently have, before even buying it!
We're starting this program in San Diego with Group5 motorsports 858-693-3278. Give them a call for more info.
Wrong spring in he TiAL. Put in a lighter spring and your "problem will be solved. But then again im sure you would rather try to discredit a good company by "rigging" its product to "fail".
Bottom Line- Why do you even have to mess with different springs. Just get a BOV that you put on and works. What if your altitude changes, idle vacuum changes, get cams? Are you supposed to change springs again? Nothing is rigged, the proper spring per instructions. That BOV is doing exactly what it was designed to do, stay shut at idle. Synchronic BOV is designed to eliminate compressor surge.
lighter spring actually, see the synapse BS call out videos by searching for 'TiAL BOV' since synapse is too scared to let me post a video responce LOL
The air is metered or measured into the engine though the air meter the engine knows how much air should be in the engine. Atmospheric valves such as this one release this measured air to atmosphere. So in effect the car may assume it has an air leak as its not in the turbo system recirculating.. The air has been lost though the valve when blown off. I only now use a recirculating type valve i find it smother on the car less noise and wont screw up air mixtures on some cars with air meters
so are you saying the original one is crappy cuz it opens slow lol and wats the difference between a push and pull type? HKS valves are pull type they are spefically good bovs? and how can u tell when there is a compression surge and how exactly does it affect ur car
compressor surge is air fighting the forwards rotation of your turbo compressor. puts stress on the shaft bearings, causes excess heat and forces your compressor to "spin down" faster than normal. thus increasing turbo lag and shortening the life and efficiency of your turbo.
I believe you have the heaviest of the available Tial springs installed. Have you done this to egaggerate the surge effect? Fit the proper spring in your Tial BOV and your point in this video goes PFFFT.
It is not the heaviest of Tial Springs installed. It is even very common for guys running 20 psi to get surge at all times at 20 psi and then no surge when they run 20 psi. The approach of having people figure out what spring to install to match boost levels is a flawed approach.
in that case, they should run the lightest spring possible to mimic the synchronic behavior of always open at idle. making a blow off valve that is completely unapplicable to MAF cars is poor engineering.
Well it's poor engineering if it's supposed to be used in a MAF setup, but they apparently are looking at MAP (Speed density) setups. A good turbo needs to be using the volume input from a MAF sensor, and the manifold vacuum input from a MAP sensor to really know what's going and deliver proper fuel. MAF only setups have always dumped too much fuel into the cylinder when the IC pipe vents.
I've seen that, most forced induction cars run better recirculated. Even then, MAF only boosted cars have an inefficiency problem when you release throttle under boost.
Synchronic BOV is now available and in stock through retailers and distributors. All accessories, including HKS adapter flanges, Greddy adapter flanges, Aluminum weld flanges and the anti-stall valve are also available. Visit nipponpower:com, racingworks:com, ultimateracing:com, nolimitmotorsport:com, titanmotorsports:com and pmdistributing:com for wholesale inquiries.
that proves nothing, if its not connected to the pipe, then the spring is pushing it shut as theres no boost pressure to lift the piston, so the vacuum can easily overcome the spring tension and make it appear to operate more smoothly and with more response.
where as the piston type has boost pressure acting on the bottom. not a fair test.
Think about what you just wrote. Boost pressure in the intercooler pipe is helping the push-type open in addition to vacuum opening it as well. Even then it is slow.
yes but its only slow because the turbo is producing no boost while you rev it at idle. if you set the spring tension correctly on the push type you will get it to blow off before the turbo goes into surge.
watch a push type work under load at a decent boost pressure and watch it pop open with no problems ;)
then when you crack back on the throttle and the manifold pressure increases the spring will snap it shut.
I agree with you that more boost and more load will help the push-type. However, bear in mind that there are many transient conditions that revving at throttle will mimick where you will get surge and need the BOV to react quickly.Such as part throttle, light load. Or low boost <5 psi. Many aftermarket turbo systems run very low boost.
Used properly as a DV that is routed back after the MAF or before the turbo on MAP cars, users are actually finding better fuel economy. This is due to the BOV allowing the engine to bypass the turbo system under cruising and heavy vacuum conditions. For aftermarket turbocharged cars, it allows them to have the same fuel economy as stock when off-boost.
technically, you would acheive this with a push type dump valve anyway, whether its a re-circ or not. on light cruise the vac is high so the dumpvalve opens and the engine 'breathes' through the open dumpvalve as apposed to the warm/turbulant air from through the turbo. so effectively the turbo is windmilling and using very little energy, which improves cylinder density and therefore better ecconomy.
you also dont have a pressure drop across the intercooler and pipework etc.
so what exactly differs in your design? is it just the fact that the dump valve to boost bipe is essentially 'reversed' as yours doesnt seem to have pressure acting on the bottom, and have it acting on the side instead, making the valve work purely on vacuum and a light spring?
That encapsulates it in it's most fundamental of functions, as a DV or BOV. It is designed to take plenty of pressure and not leak. It also has interchangeable flanges for those that already have an existing BOV, so no need to fabricate to change over.
But one feature that we are developing on this BOV is the ability to also have a POP-off valve function in the same BOV in case your wastegate goes out or you are having overboost conditions. Since the Synchronic actuator allows for partitioning of the actuation areas, there is a chamber that can be activated when overboost is detected. Fast response was the primary design intent.
they have the wrong spring in that tial bov

the only comment i have is that the vacuum source could have been to far away from the push type bov and thats why you are getting a delayed response. i only raise this issue because i cant see the vacuum line for the synchronic one for all i know is you have the vacuum for the push type ran all over the engine bay and the sychronic t'ed in right. im not bashing just raising a concern i have been curious about your products for a while now

Ok this might sound stupid or what not
But a bov vents air pressure from the charge piping correct?
So if this synchronic bov isnt connected to the charge pipe. How does it do anything?!
KenpaZara 1 year ago

FYI dollars spent doesnot equal better just empty pockets

mikhailSRT4 1 year ago
the push type in this video had a restriction in the actuation line some where i have seen others work that way also. the bov should open fast. the 14$ ebay bov i have been using is a brass piston and a spring. works fast dumps boost during shifts. pretty simple.
the idea of this type of bov is the charge pressure holds the valve shut vs the push type what ever the boost wants to push it open. the synchronic valve is simply a normal bov installed backwards. does it matter ? not really !

My tial opens faster then that BTW!
mccaf2250 1 year ago 2
This video is false, i can tell that the spring they are using on the Tial is too hard. On a Tial bov you are supposed to oreder it based on YOUR CARS vacuum.

@puremilitary101, The chirp is usually the BOV letting go. IIRC the stock WRX's BOV doesnt chirp, it vents quietly.

@mediarocker543 my boys sti chirps, i just bought a wrx for the hell of it, back before rotation, and i had my bro put it together, but there is no bov, or its completly hidden, either way there is no bov, and im getting back pressure, and i can hear the blades turning back it makes a noise like woooto to to when i shift, not sure this isbad but deff not good, what should i do
puremilitary101 1 year ago

@puremilitary101 btw i actually have a new trubo kit ready to go on, but heres my real question, is a twin turbo to much, and should i run a open wastegate, or a closed one, i have a flutter dump valve type, and a greedy type s, which is better. sorry to bombard u with questions....
puremilitary101 1 year ago
@puremilitary101, If you have flutter dump thats not the wastegate. The wastegate regulates boost pressure. the BOV is what might be causing flutter. You should put your BOV close to the TB so when it closes it releases the built up pressure. as for what brand or whatnot... people swear by Tial, and people swear by Greddy.. its all whatever you want. I personally like the Synchronic BOV and plan on using it when I turbo my MZR.

puremilitary101 1 year ago
@puremilitary101 and last but not least, the turbo runs 7 psi, i dont wana run it any higher, the twin turbo puts out alot more, im using the same lines, just a new turbo, well ill add lines, and such, to accomodate for the second turbo, but other then that im lost
puremilitary101 1 year ago

I don't need to broadcast that I have a turbo, I'd rather just blaze past you in glory.
bastec666 2 years ago 6
if you want a silent valve, recirculate it. It greatly helps with compressor surge as well.
Thomas0zero 2 years ago
compressor surge is when the air CANNOT get out of your pipeline properly and being forced backwards into the turbo, causing it to spin backwards. re-circulation has NOTHING to do with compressor surge.
bastec666 2 years ago
recirculate the pressure into the non pressurized intake. putting all the pressure in the non pressure side, its like a ram air intake that will keep the turbo from backspinning.
Thomas0zero 2 years ago
yeah except that by recirculating the charge air you prevent compressor surge... so I guess it'd have everything to do with not having compressor surge.
gtiiiiiiii 2 years ago
The blades are not being spun backwards when surge is occuring. they are still spinning in the normal direction of movement.
saxowestie 1 year ago
your an idiot.
have you ever heard compressor surge? look up some video's on youtube get a general understanding. compressor surge is when the throttle closes (usually during a shift!) and the left over air, inside the piping, isn't pushed out of the "blow off valve", hence, BLOW OFF, and the air then begins its way BACK to the turbo, going in the opposite direction, also causing your turbo to spin backwards. that is compressor surge. and its VERY bad for your car AND turbo.
bastec666 1 year ago
I have to laugh at you, you obviously have no idea what your talking about.
I am a licenced aircraft engineer, I work with turbomeca gas turbines day in day out for the top helicopter service company in the North Seas Oil & Gas industry.
I know what surge is. The wheel in the turbo definatly does not STOP & start spinning the other waywhen you lift off the throttle.
Our aircraft bleed air off on startup as the engine isn't flowing enough air to run effectively at low rpms= compressor surge
saxowestie 1 year ago
@saxowestie yeah, you, some random dude, works as a helicopter service company in the north sea oil and gas industry...... sure ya do, and I work as a technician for Ferrari. oh and I am a boat captain, and a fighter pilot......

bastec666 1 year ago
@bastec666, he is right. 9 times out of 10 the blades dont actually reverse. But there have been cases where they have. Most of the time its just pressure build up stalling the compressor.

i think the thing people are missing also is the fact that they are only revving the engine, thus not building any sort of "real" pressure. So 1 this kind of surge is not enough to cause ANY damage 2 this is why the BOV is only opening slowly. all the videos ive seen from this company are self gratifying rubbish. Very simple... adjust the spring in the "push type" tial knock off. Loosen the pre load spring pressure in the blow off valve.
It's not opening as fast because it needs way too much vaccuum to build up before it opens!

heres the problem.

If they can move that tech into a susutained boost type of bov that would be incredible. for now if your running lower boost you'll be fine but you'll understand after about 40 psi

synaptic1 3 years ago
really? how is it beneficial. wouldnt it let in un filtered air and if you were running a maf on some setups wouldnt it screw with the signal?
lindseyhunt1090 3 years ago
If you are running a MAF car, you should be recirculating the BOV anyhow and run it as a DV. With a MAF, you shouldn't be discharging to atmosphere. With a MAP car, it isn't even an issue. Watch the video on the BMW 335i and you'll see that you don't always have to filter. Especially when the turbo is always spitting airflow out the BOV.
synaptic1 3 years ago
the problem is most cars, such as my 300zx, use MAF's. so running BOV's venting to atmosphere is actually destructive, because they create a momentary rich condition when the ECU calculates the air to be recirculated when in fact it is being vented.

not to bash on synchronic but the tial bovs are bad ass, people just order them with the wrong spring, 15lbs of boost dosent need a 15lb spring etc ill admit i think the synchronic bov is pretty cool but im confused as to what the anti stall valve is? the only reason id consider the synchro over tial is im not going to be running high boost all the time i have 2 setting one for 15lbs and one for 22lbs and i dont want to switch springs im sure i could get a weak one and call it good but who knows

How much CFM does it move VS Tial?
Tial opens slower because it flow much more air. (witch is a good thing)
Common sense 4 those who didn't get it. Smaller WG will pop fully open quicker then bigger WG same with BOV!
AndreTwin 3 years ago
Like I said on other video.
Good Luck.
AndreTwin 3 years ago 3
And lastly comparing them by reving the motor without even building boost is a joke!
AndreTwin 3 years ago 2
Moving CFM isn't always the goal of a BOV. At least that's what everyone has been designing around. The goal of the Synchronic BOV is reaction time.

It is being mounted on the other side of the engine and piping run from left side through a behind bumper intercooler and from there to the intake. it is an m62.. and it doesn't have a built in one like i said in my last post its fine i'll just go on a few forums and ask around.
thx

To prove that the Synapse BOV is not hype, we are starting a try before you buy program. You can actually test drive a Synapse BOV versus what you currently have, before even buying it!
We're starting this program in San Diego with Group5 motorsports 858-693-3278. Give them a call for more info.

What kind of POS surges at idle? Or builds adequate boost w/o load?
The tial can flow more, look at all of its openings.. I'm shure all cars IAC works just fine having a massive boost leak at idle..
I'll stick to keeping boost in turns rather than playing catch up after that thing releases ALL positive pressure
ineedboostbad 4 years ago
Wrong spring in he TiAL. Put in a lighter spring and your "problem will be solved. But then again im sure you would rather try to discredit a good company by "rigging" its product to "fail".
tdr774 4 years ago
Bottom Line- Why do you even have to mess with different springs. Just get a BOV that you put on and works. What if your altitude changes, idle vacuum changes, get cams? Are you supposed to change springs again? Nothing is rigged, the proper spring per instructions. That BOV is doing exactly what it was designed to do, stay shut at idle. Synchronic BOV is designed to eliminate compressor surge.

that doesnt sound good dude

The spring is to tight numb nuts.
lazzer408 4 years ago
Even set full "loose" the vacuum diaphragm bov is still much slower than the synchronic.
my83merc 4 years ago
heavier tial wastegate spring would make it open faster
turbodsm7 4 years ago
lighter spring actually, see the synapse BS call out videos by searching for 'TiAL BOV' since synapse is too scared to let me post a video responce LOL

I only now use a recirculating type valve i find it smother on the car less noise and wont screw up air mixtures on some cars with air meters
ironmanbill 4 years ago
Synchronic BOV comes standard with a 1.25" recirculation fitting. The recirc fitting is off in order for you to see the speed of actuation on video.

sychronic blow off valve cannot be touched...that thing is bad ass!!

Formulastreet 4 years ago
so are you saying the original one is crappy cuz it opens slow lol and wats the difference between a push and pull type? HKS valves are pull type they are spefically good bovs? and how can u tell when there is a compression surge and how exactly does it affect ur car
ramy060 4 years ago
compressor surge is air fighting the forwards rotation of your turbo compressor. puts stress on the shaft bearings, causes excess heat and forces your compressor to "spin down" faster than normal. thus increasing turbo lag and shortening the life and efficiency of your turbo.
my83merc 4 years ago
I believe you have the heaviest of the available Tial springs installed. Have you done this to egaggerate the surge effect? Fit the proper spring in your Tial BOV and your point in this video goes PFFFT.
electroair 4 years ago
Sorry, I misspelled exaggerate.
My error highlights the key word to my post.
electroair 4 years ago
It is not the heaviest of Tial Springs installed. It is even very common for guys running 20 psi to get surge at all times at 20 psi and then no surge when they run 20 psi. The approach of having people figure out what spring to install to match boost levels is a flawed approach.
synaptic1 4 years ago
in that case, they should run the lightest spring possible to mimic the synchronic behavior of always open at idle. making a blow off valve that is completely unapplicable to MAF cars is poor engineering.
i3igpete 4 years ago
Well it's poor engineering if it's supposed to be used in a MAF setup, but they apparently are looking at MAP (Speed density) setups. A good turbo needs to be using the volume input from a MAF sensor, and the manifold vacuum input from a MAP sensor to really know what's going and deliver proper fuel. MAF only setups have always dumped too much fuel into the cylinder when the IC pipe vents.
my83merc 4 years ago
The Synchronic BOV works best recirculated, which is good design for MAF cars. It comes complete with a 1.25" recirculation fitting.
synaptic1 4 years ago
I've seen that, most forced induction cars run better recirculated. Even then, MAF only boosted cars have an inefficiency problem when you release throttle under boost.

lol at 1:04 it sounds like the car has asthma

that proves nothing, if its not connected to the pipe, then the spring is pushing it shut as theres no boost pressure to lift the piston, so the vacuum can easily overcome the spring tension and make it appear to operate more smoothly and with more response.
where as the piston type has boost pressure acting on the bottom. not a fair test.
charade993 4 years ago
Think about what you just wrote. Boost pressure in the intercooler pipe is helping the push-type open in addition to vacuum opening it as well. Even then it is slow.
synaptic1 4 years ago
yes but its only slow because the turbo is producing no boost while you rev it at idle. if you set the spring tension correctly on the push type you will get it to blow off before the turbo goes into surge.
watch a push type work under load at a decent boost pressure and watch it pop open with no problems ;)
then when you crack back on the throttle and the manifold pressure increases the spring will snap it shut.
charade993 4 years ago
I agree with you that more boost and more load will help the push-type. However, bear in mind that there are many transient conditions that revving at throttle will mimick where you will get surge and need the BOV to react quickly.Such as part throttle, light load. Or low boost <5 psi. Many aftermarket turbo systems run very low boost.
synaptic1 4 years ago
if boost is as low as 5psi, you really have to ask yourself why you need a dump valve fitted in the first place.
charade993 4 years ago
Used properly as a DV that is routed back after the MAF or before the turbo on MAP cars, users are actually finding better fuel economy. This is due to the BOV allowing the engine to bypass the turbo system under cruising and heavy vacuum conditions. For aftermarket turbocharged cars, it allows them to have the same fuel economy as stock when off-boost.
synaptic1 4 years ago
technically, you would acheive this with a push type dump valve anyway, whether its a re-circ or not. on light cruise the vac is high so the dumpvalve opens and the engine 'breathes' through the open dumpvalve as apposed to the warm/turbulant air from through the turbo. so effectively the turbo is windmilling and using very little energy, which improves cylinder density and therefore better ecconomy.
you also dont have a pressure drop across the intercooler and pipework etc.
charade993 4 years ago
Correct. However, not all push-types are designed this way. And most, if not all pull-types do not work in this fashion either.
synaptic1 4 years ago
so what exactly differs in your design? is it just the fact that the dump valve to boost bipe is essentially 'reversed' as yours doesnt seem to have pressure acting on the bottom, and have it acting on the side instead, making the valve work purely on vacuum and a light spring?
charade993 4 years ago
That encapsulates it in it's most fundamental of functions, as a DV or BOV. It is designed to take plenty of pressure and not leak. It also has interchangeable flanges for those that already have an existing BOV, so no need to fabricate to change over.
synaptic1 4 years ago
But one feature that we are developing on this BOV is the ability to also have a POP-off valve function in the same BOV in case your wastegate goes out or you are having overboost conditions. Since the Synchronic actuator allows for partitioning of the actuation areas, there is a chamber that can be activated when overboost is detected. Fast response was the primary design intent.
