  • @sh4dows dream theater = jordan rudess

    jordan rudess = dream theater

  • kevin moore has some of the most interesting sounding songs.

  • i bekieve kevin moore should get in a band...its really unjust for such talented musicians not to have a group

  • @challengeleo Kevin and groups doesn't work. I think he's better off alone.

  • Dream should had Moore and Rudess playing together *-------------*

  • kevin moore is a complete musician due his unnegletable skills on keyboard and his ability of composing and comcepting memorable songs and lyrics. Don't forget that he create the concept behind Dream Theater's name.

  • @vargulv didn't mike portnoy's dad come up with the name?

  • he is a genius

  • If you like Kevin Moore, feel free to visit my fan website: The Mooreatorium. Search for it on Google.

  • Looks like one of those sad "where are they now?" documentaries. Glad Kevin's still using his talents though. He's an amazing musician.

  • @funkster007 You should definitely check out his band OSI, if you haven't already. Definitely no sad story there, OSI are an amazing band and personally, I feel Kevin Moore is doing very well.

  • Kevin Moore is the dream in Dream Theater!!

  • is kevin moore related to vinnie moore

  • Kevin, Derek or Jordan?!?!?! Cruel doubt!!!

    i prefer Derek...

  • Kevin Moore is awesome.

  • Kevin Moore's the GUY!

Everything he does is awesome - I just wish he'd do a mini-tour, or play a couple shows, maybe for Blood or something; but for any material, really.

Blood is one of the best CD's of the year, if it's feasible, it'd be cool to see him play in person.

    p.s I expected as growly ass speaking voice based in his singing, but his voice is actually pretty mellow {O_o}

  • I wish they would tour for blood sooo bad.

But Kev said in an interview that it would be too much work and way to complicated to organize the tour.

  • Yeah I figured as much. Too bad he's such a hermit, I'm sure tons of people would want to see a show.

As long as he keeps making music, I can't complain though.

  • Moore's solos were a lot better than Rudess' solos.

  • SUCH a lie

  • Just an opinion ;)

  • then state it as an opinion, you stated it as a fact.

  • I think its taken as a given that it was an opinion. Just as your response was too.

  • Comon Jordan Rudess is much better player and more genious than kevin.. Kevin is excellent player too but JR is just the wizard!

  • Absolutely. Both Kevin and JR are completely brilliant, but Rudess is the freaking keyboard wizard, his skills blow my mind.

  • The problem in comparing Rudess to Moore lies in their approach to playing.

Rudess goes for blistering fast playing, while Moore is focused mostly on expression.

  • Thats true also :) love them both!

  • @Petruccibear The way they express themselves musically is very different. Rudess loves fast guitar like interval changes and his musicality does not suffer in the least for it. He truly takes the keyboard's virtuosity to a whole new level. Kevin Moore is still an amazing keyboardist in his own sense, but to say that one is better at expression than another is bashing what musicianship is all about. The individual. Opinions are opinions, but you shouldn't directly attack one's skill and

  • @Petruccibear expressive ability based off of another musician.

  • @Petruccibear

Indeed... Kevin Moore is much more visceral and textural and ambient. I really love his approach.

  • Really ??

Dont get me wrong ... I was angry when I showed up at a DT show for awake in Toronto and Kevin Moore wanst there ...... There was a dud in between, BUT the new DT is better than ever !!

Regardless ... Good luck Kevin Moore ... You'll be missed,

Good luck playing in Turkey and Istanbul !

  • I totally agree with you Robertronics.

He is too much for DT.

  • honestly Kevin Myung is a better lyricists than Portnoy and Petrucci look some of his work before in DT Under a Glass Moon, Surrounded, Space Dye Vest, Pull Me Under and A Matter of Time, so progressive !

  • the lyrics have nothing to do with the song sounding progressive because the myung, petrucci, rudess, and portnoy write the music. the lyrics come after that

  • That's actually not true. Portnoy said they always write the songs around the lyrics (except for instrumental sections, obviously)

  • It's Kevin Moore, not Myung.

  • HE BE TROLLIN!

  • Ummmm

    Kevin Moore !!

    not Myung

    Myung = Bass

Moore = Keyboards and Quitter !!

    hehe

  • Wow, he sounds soft-spoken and humble. I had the impression he was an egomaniac.

Third album from OSI, please! More like the first!

  • I agree Darkblood...Much rather have Moore in there.

And PS, he does still rock it! OSI (with Mike on drums) is a project he does, I'm sure its on here.

Chroma Key is his current project , I believe a new CD is coming out soon.

Both are brilliant, but for old DT fans OSI is the way to go!!

  • wish mtv would be like this in germany

  • well...DT r more successful...bottom line really! haha

  • Moore looks so sad. This is not the Moore that was in Dream Theater.

  • A fucking GeeeeeeeeeNiuuuuus

  • And a fucking loser. The guy had everything going for him, but threw it down the sewers of NY and decided to do his own shit elsewhere. Sure he is a genius, but he is a self-absorbed genius.

  • So he should have kept to contributing to a band and a style of music that he wasn't interested in? The man is not a loser, at least he had the balls to go and pursue his own musical interests...and pretty successfully... I respect that the dude writes the music that he wants to hear and that he believes in it, he's clearly not doing it for some mass audience... Good for him!

  • Leaving the band to pursue his own musical direction is one thing, but the fact that he refuses to have anything to do with the band, such as their 20th anniversary DVD or the 'When Dream And Day Re-Unite' reunion show makes him an asshole.

Other former members participated in those. If it hadn't been for Dream Theater, he never would have had the chance to explore his own musical direction. He'd probably be working a generic 9 to 5 job somewhere.

  • Sad Sad Movie :). What a great song.

  • What Makine song is that at 1:48?

  • Makine - Yasam (pre-production)

    watch?v=mjE4r5OCKLk

  • I dislike it when people compare old band members to new band members because they're all different. It's like comparing two completely different genres of music. Each genre is different just like every person/human being.

  • Eh... it's the price of doing business. Sure, everybody's different. Everybody's also going to have a different perspective, and I rather enjoy talking about that.

  • I totally agree

  • I agree, but the direction the rudess era brought to dream theater changed them too much in my mind. I enjoy old dream theater

  • Kevin Moore = Dream Theater

    Dream Theater = Kevin Moore.

I love you Kevin, thank you very much for Images & Words and Awake!

  • AMEN !!!

  • More like

Kevin Moore + Mike Portnoy + John Myung + John Petrucci = Dream Theater

    And vice versa.

  • @sh4dows and When Dream And Day Unite

  • he didn't liked the progstar life, so he quit, the guy is happy now, and he is still making great songs too, he prefered this way, and as he shows on the interview he likes to play for a small group of people, this is really a great atitude, if something that he can't control goes wrong, only a few will be affected, the only problem is that, when he comes to brazil, i will be like 40 years (i am 17) but i will pay whatever it costs, to see the show! keep playing kevin! i'm waiting another OSI!

  • WHATTA FUCK KEVIN?!

    enough with that acid

  • miss Kevin Moore in Dream Theater. I wish they wil reunite with all keyboard players :)

  • they did, back in 2004 but moore refuse to show up.

  • Personally I think Kevin Moore is gay. His lyrics especially on songs such as "Even The Waves" all mention derivatives of John. Many of his songs point to this. I saw the same thing in my own garage band where a member vanished. I ran into him 10 years later and he had stopped playing music because he was in love with another member (nobody knew) and was the reason he played in the first place. He realized it wasn't going anywhere hence his inspiration died.

  • Well, Kevin is kind of cute...

Er, well that might be it. I'm not sure of it, probably bisexual judging by Space-Dye Vest...

  • Maybe true. I miss Brad though he did write some of our best stuff. I tried to get him to come back out and play but, not interested.

  • Which John?

  • wtf are you talking about?? yes, a year a later, i still think this is the dumbest thing i've ever seen on youtube..

  • kevin come back please!!

  • wow...how amazing is this?...kevin fucking moore pawns on stage once again...he has really evolved since dream theater, i mean look at him playing at some lillte club in turkey...you really made it kevin...congrats on all your success, the fame and the groupies...and his music is just mindblowing...i played it to my cat and it instantly started dancing...but we are humans kevin, start making some fucking music for humans, not cats. THANK YOU FOR LEAVING DT!!! looks like you did us a huge favor.

  • I do believe that Kev wasn't comfortable with the level of success DT had attained therefore he bailed out.

  • that guy looks like ali g

  • Kevin's stuff with Chroma Key and OSI is way better than Dreamtheater. How long can you go listening to that big hair shredder stuff? (At least Portnoy is recording with Neal Morse)

Kevin Moore has one of the coolest voices. His mellow tone has a unique sound that can cross many genres.

  • I like both, but I agree with you. I love osi and chroma key.

  • Thanks for he leaved, thanks for rudess came and make it all BEST!

  • i guess kevin's leaving was a good step after all, he seems calm and satisfied with normal life, rather than a big band's life and it's demands..

  • Kevin!!!

what song is that he's playing at 00:21?

    anyone know?

  • its a shame he left. His solo stuff isnt half bad. but whyd he have to move to effin Turkey?

  • He was e more open and modern mind than dream theater, instead of repeating the same music for years, his vocation is to experiment new ways of making emotional music.

    I agree with him

    Cheerz from Italy.

  • İlginç ya bu adamın Türkiyede yaşaması

  • at the begging at about 2-3 seconds does he say dumb fuck lol, it really sounds like it

  • "If something goes horribly wrong, it only happens in front of 100 people..."

    What a great attitude...

  • Yea, your right ShreedaKing. Like I said, being in the big leagues scarred the shit out of Kev. Now he has the balls not to like Dream Theater. Jordan Rudess has the balls and plays as good if not better than Kevin. Grow some balls Keving and loss the poverty complex !!!

  • I've never heard the word 'balls' used so many times in one post, jesus.

  • Don't -ever- even INFER that Rudess is better than Kevin Moore. Ever. He can't write music for shit, he is bare of emotion. Rudess's additions make him look like a shell of a human being, with no real love in his songs.

  • I didn't mean that Rudess is a better song writer. There is a part of Dream Theater that has been missing since Kev left and it isn't in playing ability, it is as you said-in feeling and emotion. Even the music they play from Images and Words does not have the feeling it once had. True, Rudess is a monster of a player and can stand toe-to-toe with Kev as a musician. However, I do believe that Kev wasn't comfortable with the level of success DT had attained therefore he bailed out.

  • i agree i think its too guitar orientated in dream theater now, even with derek the keyboard had more of a voice rather than an accomp. and also brought some slight fusion stuff. the are not heavy now just cheesy br00tal

  • Their last few albums have been the heaviest in their arsenal. for example, Train Of Thought. John Petrucci doesn't even run the show, its Mike Portnoy that puts it all together. When Sherinian was in the band they produced their worst selling/least popular album, Falling into Infinity. Saying all of the band members are "gods" at the instrument they play, i don't know how you can say they are guitar oriented.

  • Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence and Scenes From a Memory were their least guitar driven albums actually.

  • Wrong.

  • Wrong.

  • Rudess is the best to ever touch those white keys

  • The Black Ones Too :D

  • haha true dat

  • the mod and pitch wheels too... :)

  • continuum and slide guitar!

  • And sustain pedal.

  • Yeah, that album and ToT, what more else? the last albums i just didn't feel the emotion y felt with the old albums. Even the other guys were more melodic when they were with Kevin Moore that now. Now they seem like progressive machines, technique at his best but that's it.

  • He should play in some small American clubs once in a while. And record/sell some new stuff.

  • Man it seems like he's change A LOT over the years in personality alone, he sounds different too. He just seems like a different person. Still love the guy though, kevmo was and still is the best.

  • Not to mention, not coming out for the 'When Dream and Day Reunite' show in 2004, or doing an interview for Score in 2006, in spite of Charlie Dominici and Derrick Sherenian each doing both. Seriously, what the hell happened to Kev?

  • It was an internal problem...

Kevin Moore don't like DT...Plain and simple.

  • agreed... awake was a totally kickass album too what he played on that album was beautiful

  • Yea, Kevin Moore is happy remaining in his comfort zone i.e.- small CD sales and little shows. He is happy that way, success must scare the shit out of him. DT was headed for success and it got tooooo much for Kev so he bailed.

  • To see Kevin Moore playing solo makes me happy. I've waited almost 10 years to see this unfold. I'll be anywhere I need to be if he plays the U.S. All my support.

  • Vecchio mio, quand'è vieni in italia, ti aspettiamo a braccia aperte :)!!

  • Il migliore di tutti. In due parole: Kevin Moore.
