L.A. news in the '90s was tabloid-like, it carried a negative-apocalyptic-cynical view of the world to a point no wonder many L.A. locals don't bother to watch the TV news anymore. It brought an end to the L.A. area's former regional personality as a "laid back, comfortable & optimistic people the world once known of us. I'm from Sou. Cal. near Palm Springs where we watched L.A. newscasts when the 3 local TV stations hardly had newscasts. KCBS 2 & KCAL 9 mellowed out in how they report news. +
KCBS was tabloid; this is the best of John Lippman (now scaring Mexicans with stories of illegal immigration raids at KMEX). KCBS's tabloid style was interesting but didn't work for ratings.
michael tuck was better than paul moyer in the 90s period

@polyiguana So John Lippman is nothing more than Harold Camping of TV News Directors. and you mean that Lippman is doing Lou Dobbs type stories.

Bree Walker looks like then-Texas govenor Ann Richards in the intro shot, four seconds into the clip.

I can imagine Image as the main theme in the open....that would have fit well.

Back then, they were. Come to think of it, they still are. Notice what they tossed to at the end. This was pre-Letterman, of course.

Hey! I didn't know Hosea Sanders was at KCBS! He's now at WLS-TV here in Chicago where he anchors the morning newscast.
