Amrita Pritam's poem- 'Akhan Waris Shah Noo' immrtalised the pain of what happened during the partition of India. A heart throbbing account of pain of women, who suffered the most- whether Hindu, Sikh and or Muslim.

Others noteables who wrote were- Khushwant Singh (Train to Pakistan), Chamn Nahal (Azaadi), Yash Paul (Jhootha Sach), Bhisham Sahni (Tamas), Rajinder Singh Bedi (Lajwanti), Ramanad Sagar (Aur Insaan Mar Gaya).

these words were put to a song in a Pakistani film called Kartar Singh which ran continously non stop in an indian punjab cinema for 3 years! the song is available on U tube>. I think it was sung by Zubaida Khanum.

that song was sing by Inayat Hussain Bhatti and Zubaida in Kartar Singh as u said. that was the first use of this poem by Amrata Pritam in any movie. later that was used in 3 more movies on both sides of border
